OK,
I think I have made it very clear on the good old IRC that I am a RUSH
fanatic (right Paul ;). Anyway, with that said, I must report that
Different Stages is a EXTREMELY well mixed set of music! Just like
being at the show. The "setlist" is great and the bonus disk kicks
ass as well. Well, only to those who enjoy old Rush as well as new.
Also, the enhanced program is pretty neat. It has nothing to do with
Rush. In fact, it's an art program that is pretty cool to play around
with. Consider it a little bonus to the 3-CD masterpiece.
Seriously, I haven't heard a better live set than this in a long time.
Once In a Livetime is right up there with this one.
Long live RUSH! :)
Jeff "Aire" E.
P.S. Have your 5-CD changer in motion with the following: OIAL & DS :)
Great little combo.

I know that there are quite a few of these...but the only one that pops into
my mind right now is:
Duran Duran (a character from the movie Barbarella)

I've got a question... what's DT going to do now that this badass live
CD is out? Are they going to tour to support OiaL? are they going into
the studio to record a new album? Met II? I know MP and JP are doing
LTE2 and then MP is doing that other super-band project (I forgot who's
in that one) but now what's up? I'd love to see another american tour,
or another album, or Met II, or anything where we get to see or hear
more of the band. I'm a few 'jams behind, so if this has been
addressed, please don't flame me, I'm too young to be powdered toast!

Hi,
WCW wrestler "Lionheart" Chris Jericho mentions that he's
now playing: Dream Theater-Once in a LIVEtime on his
website. He's also listed LTE at one time. Chris is a
self-professed metal-head, who happens to sing/drum in a
band of his own (maybe they play DT). Also, he looks a
little like a young James Hetfield.
Check it out;

Take care,

Hey,
Adam said:
>I 'spose we'll do what we've always done with this
>kind of thing. Get a good group of traders together
>(20-25), buy one copy of this and CD-R it for everyone.
I volunteered to do this from a taping standpoint a while back, but no one
took me up on it. I guess no one uses tapes anymore. :) My idea was this: I
buy the CD, then anyone interested sends me a self-addressed stamped
package , a tape, and two dollars. That way, I recoup the cost of my
investment, and you get a copy of the CD for under $5. And I'm a reliable
trader (at least I've heard that... :P).
But the thing is, no one will take you up on this kind of offer for two
reasons: 1) everyone wants CDs now, tapes aren't good enough; 2) no one is
willing to be the one to front the money for the CD. Plus, if they're going
to make CD-Rs from it, they'd rather re-sell them for $15-20.
I haven't had a single person agree to a trade in over a year because no
one wants tapes of anything anymore. I for one, am more than happy with
tapes- hell I'm just happy to hear the material. But the digital revolution
has poisoned people into believing that these recordings they get are
somehow superior because they're on disc. Of course, they're $40 poorer in
the process...
And I agree that what the Scarred page says is symptomatic of yet another
Jammer who claims to be doing fans a service, then goes and makes a
business out of it.

Hello Jammers,
I have recently purchased Explorer's Club AoI, and I love it, but I can't
really say if I like LTE or AoI better. I guess each one is special in
its own way. LTE as an instrumental album with lots of cool jamming and
AoI as a more standard prog metal album, with cool flute and trombone
solos, not to mention awesome Petrucci solos and James LaBrie on two of
the songs. AoI has definitely interested me in checking out Magellan.
Now onto OiaL. OiaL is amazing (I have one of those often mentioned
promotional copies). I have now listened to it twice since getting it
late last week. Unfortunately my copy of 5YiaL is on backorder at CDnow,
but I will soon receive Rush's Different Stages, so that should hold me
out until I finally get 5YiaL. Also, I have written a very positive
review of OiaL for Tulane's student newspaper and since I know the music
editor it will probably get in unscathed. At the end I tell everyone to
drop what their doing and go get a DT album. Hopefully many people will
take this advice and find out what they have been missing.
Later,
Kevin

Interview with a man who speaks only in anagrams (excerpt)
Man who speaks in anagrams: Ring Kichard the Thrid.
Interviewer: I'm sorry?
Man who speaks in anagrams: A shroe! A shroe! My dingkom for a shroe!
Interviewer: Ah, yes, King Richard the Third. But surely that's not an
anagram, that's a spoonerism.
Man who speaks in anagrams: Well, if you're going to split hairs, I'm

I must scour some webpages... confirm this... drug up some friends to come
with me...

Yo yo yo!! Here I yam! Are you that desperate to get a green card? ;)
Hehe... Btw, I've noticed the BG disc you sent is the only CD of mine so
far that when I play, my roommate will put on her earphones. She totally
digs Nightfall in Middle-Earth, but I guess Imaginations... is just too
hardcore for her. :)
Well, that was totally useless, but on the upside it probably will not
start a thread from hell. Have a great day folks!

Hell, I'll do it. I don't see what the big risk is. God forbid I should get scammed out of a self-addressed stamped envelope, a tape, and two dollars. The thing with tapes is that they break too easily. Maybe it's a bad walkman, or maybe you've just played the tape to death, but after a while, the tape comes loose or tangled or whatever beyond repair. In that case, I'd send another envelope, tape, and 2 bucks. I could do this 10 times over and it would still cost less than $40 for a 2-disc CDR.

In a message dated 98-11-09 16:28:32 EST, you write:
<< Facts: The German title for the video was 'The Satch Tapes'(Juli, hpoe that helps) If somebody likes Satch Boogie w/Bissonnette, I hope you're referring to a live version on TM(although I don't have the booklet and can conferm that), because there was no drummer on Surfing w/ an alien. As you can hear on the video they(Satch and Cuniberti) wanted to create an album focused on guitar(I believe that worked). >>
ACTUALLY... The real fact is that while there was some drum machine stuff used, Jeff Campitelli DID play drums on the Surfing w/ the Alien album. The album they're talking about in the Satch video is Joe's very 1st album- Dreaming #11, where Joe overdubbed noises on his guitar for different drum sounds.
<< So heres little Satch boy telling his producer that the drums are out of time. I guess if it's not 4/4 Satch can't comprehend. >> ACTUALLY... some of Joe's best songs aren't in 4/4. Surfing w/ the Alien album has some great examples: "Echo", which is mostly 5/4, "Always w/ Me, Always w/ You" is 3/4, "The Forgotten (part 1)" from the Flying In A Blue Dream album is 3/4 & 7/8. And he likes to toss in an occasional 2/4 measure in a number of his songs. Granted, these aren't amazingly difficult time sigs, but I think Joe likes to keep more of a smooth flow in his songs. It's just his style, as opposed to some of DT's stuff where they REALLY like to throw you for a loop and make you go "Whoa! What the fuck was that?", which obviously we all love. In the end though, it's all good. I'm done ranting now, I just wanted to stick up for Joe on this never ending thread. Cheers! -J.K.

I have to COMPLETELY disagree with you on this one. Maybe it would be, but it appears that Dream Theater doesn't give a $#!+ if people bootleg or not. In fact, they might think it's cool, and as far as I know Mike Portnoy owns damned near all of them anyway...
So if they did not want people bootlegging their music, I might agree.
BUT, since they DON'T, I need a copy of the Majesty 1986 demos. Are these available from Scarred records? If so, can anybody make a copy w/color cover art for less?
ThanXXXXXX.
And did Mike Bahr unsubscribe from Ytsejam? I must have missed it, but the 'Bahr Wars' are now over and I haven't seen a thing from him in a few months...
