Are we talkin' of all time? Cause I got a few for that list, like:

John Bonham, Neil Peart, Keith Moon, Terry Bozzio, Steve Smith, Buddy
Rich .. wow so many more too that I can't think of. I've heard mention
of a lot of drummers on this list that I must admit (shamedly) that I've
never heard of. I wasn't always the most exposed, if ya get my meaning.
Hey, not to go completely off the subject, but anyone here a Star Wars
fan? The new movie's going to be out soon, the first in the series of
prequels, Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace! I saw the preview
tonight on the news, and it was completely AWESOME!! I can't wait! :)

Under a Glass Moon was the best solo of all time I think. I love that
natural progression the whole thing takes. Then the pull off and "burp
thingies" (for lack of a better word or knowledge of what that is he
does there) that he does right before the last scale downward. Just an
    awesome combonation of notes!

I always find it interesting that Fates Warning went from being a metal band
with a prog singer (Arch era), to a prog band with a more metal singer (Alder)

I think it has more to do with the likes of Zonder, vera, etc.

    Message-ID: <36550D4D.FE1D1C21@bigplanet.com>

OH MY FUCKING GOD! I just got back from a Bozzio drum clinic in San
Antonio, and all I have to say is that there is not a better drummer on
the planet! Black Light Syndrome, Explorer's Club, and Sex & Religion
don't even begin to show just how incredible this man is. Portnoy ain't
shit and Peart ain't all that great compared to this guy (and believe
me, I know how much that is saying. I wouldn't say that to this
easily-inflamed group if I didn't absolutely mean it). If you don't
believe me, go to one of his drum clinics or find a copy of Drawing the
Circle, his newest solo drum album (it's real hard to find, but VERY
    worth it).
Bozzio has totally redefined the drum kit. His composititions aren't
just cool rhythmic stuff, altho' that's there in abundance. There's
more melody and tonality, just overal musicality, in his playing than I
thought possible with a drum kit (even one that takes up the space a
whole band normally takes). He played themes and melodies on his toms
AND Cymbals (all tuned to specific pitches). Even watching him play the
music, I still couldn't believe that there was only one person playing
that. I just cannot look at other drummers the same any more. Bozzio
is on such a different level. I can no longer think of other drummers
as "incredible." Yeah, they're pretty damn good, but GOD! Bozzio is
just so far ahead. He's a genius on the level of Bach and Mozart. He
is changing perceptions of the drum kit. Guys like Portnoy, Peart, and
Beauford (Dave Matthews Band) raise the bar to new hights, but Bozzio
made a new bar. totally un-fuckin'-believable.

If I recall from the one Test for Echo show I saw and the tape I've
seen, Neil had two kits. One in the front and one in the back. One had
two bass drums and the other had one. When Neil needed one, he just had
to have his kit rotate 180 degrees.

    About the best drummers thing:

I don't know shit 'bout speed (of no importance) or endurance (also of no importance, at least not in a studio), but when it comes to creativity I'd put these on top of my list...

Neil Peart Bill Bruford Phil Collins (Why did he quit? Why did Peter Gabriel give him the opportunity of singing? Damn, he could have become really awesome...) and, last but not least - our beloved Mike Portnoy (but sometimes he overplays - gotta admit it)

Someone mentioned a gay sighting on the DT video, in the clip from Finnish Nummirock festival during the chat with Pantera & Slayer dudes...

I got the video yesterday (cheap! FIM 112 for me, the CD was FIM 149) and absolutely love it. I'm in the video too :)) in the Nummirock crowd... I haven't been able to find myself there yet, but I know I'm there. Hehe.

Anyway, about the two guys kissing. You don't actually see them kiss now do you? Actually, I'm 99,9% sure that these guys are straight (nothing wrong being gay)... this is common behaviour when Finnish people get drunk, esp. among men who rarely show their feelings otherwise. I can imagine the scenario "oh man, i love your shirt, where did you get that awesome tee shirt. have some booze oh give me a hug i love your shirt" *drunken growl* :-)) I'm positive that 90 % of the Nummirock crowd was drunk during DT's set. Hmmm... quite an experience to play on Midsummer Eve...

Anyway, from the girly point of view, I'm so glad they included that Awake era footage, Wowow stuff, when long hair was still "in"... *drool*... hahahahahhahahahahaaaa... "5YIAL" is very entertaining and interesting, no chance of getting bored eventho' it's long. I think it belongs to "things that make you go mmmmmmm"... :)

    Alrighty then.

I'm only sure about the former, though, the Ray thing is just me quoting what's been said on the jam.
