CD Europe has NOTHING in, they carry no stock, some orders
can take months from them to arrive.

There are other online stores that carry the stock, think about it, no
label sells cds through just one outlet :)

I believe this is very true! C'mon folks, there's bunch of music out here waiting to be discovered!

Dream Theater is a proof for one phenomena: I see 95% of the jammers have heavy metal background and the like DT. I happen not to be heavy metal fan, been more into classic rock, 70s hard rock and jazz rock - and LOVE DT! :)

Some bands you hear I don't have a clue about and vice versa! Who said there ain't such music existing like prog jazz, jazz prog or whatever? It doesn't even matter how we call it, we all know what that person meant - something new in the music, at least for him.

I was listening rock/hard rock for quite long. I thought I know almost all worth bands from that time! But I was deadly wrong. Then I hear about a band called Focus and they blew me away: originality, awesome playing, heavenly musical arrangements. Then I discovered Camel - again the same. Recently I become familiar with a band Gentle Giant and everyone tell me that if I like Yes and Jethro Tull (which is true) I'll LOVE them! And I still didn't find them!

So, there's bunch of stuff we don't know, even from 20 years ago. And I now for sure that there are some pretty awesome jazz rock albums in the 90s and own some. It's very individual I guess. I heard of Spock's Beard not long ago and really loved it. I heard Magellan 2 moths ago and I WENT CRAZY! But ya know these bands. But that's why you might not know Brand X. Who knows, maybe some old Iron maiden fan will freak out tomorrow on Brand X, Trilok Gurtu or Frank Zappa. Zappa music is great for someone hungry for diversity. I learned a lot about other prog bands than DT through Ytsejam and DT sites in general! Now I see some jammers wondering about jazzy prog and stuff like that. Write me, maybe I can recommend you some stuff I know. But don't say it doesn't exist yet! :)

I have a great album from jazz rock drummer Michael Shrieve, and guitarist there is Shawn Lane! The guy is simply awesome! I also have cover of "All along the watchtower" of a guitarist called Shawn Lane, recorded from one guitar compilation CD. Can someone confirm if this is the same guy?

Hm, something is bothering me quite a while. WHY so many folks say that classical music is the top goal for everyone developing in listening music? WHY classical music is considered BEST music of all?

It kinda confuses me: These guys were writing that music centuries ago and today they are considered geniuses in music! I don't say Beethoven or Bach are not geniuses, but going to the extreme of saying THEY are the best??? We can't possibly say that EVERYTHING after them is garbage ad composer after them are all idiots.

Hi!

I've been seeing lately many jammers exchanging experiences on similar topics so I wanna ask a question. You might heard about the Bulgaria problem with making illegal bootlegs on almost everyhting that comes out these days! They're making a lo of money this way since those CDs are much, much cheaper. But now something started to happen in my country. CD Shops started selling music CDs recorded on recordable CD-ROMs!?! Ya know, those with blue, yellow or green inner side. And they're starting to be very spreaded. Now, most of the folks say "Wohoo, great, I ge the SAME CD for much cheaper and the sound quality is SAME!".

Is this true!?! I mean, c'mon, maybe we can't judge only with our ears if the quality is good. I have a friend who worked in CD repairing store and he sais that all CDplayers brought to them had damaged laser because of playing those Bulgarian bootlegs (the one with SAME sound quality) He said that no matter what you hear, when you analyse the signal on osciloscope it DOES SHOW what is the difference: the bootlegs are made very poor, and the laser is in agonising pain to read the signal. It reads it and play it, but quite hard. And sooner or later it dies. This friend also now has friends who started this "buisiness" with selling music on recordbale CD-ROMs and THEY themselves told him that thoise CDs are withg very poor quality and they don't recomend thim recording music on them!

So, I guess there in US you already have experience with these things, so can someone tell me what's going on! No matter howq big is the joy and feeling of holding your own original CD, when you hear the prize of the bootleg everyone feels temptation. I still strongly resist it, but.....

One other friends already took 10 original CDs from me to record them for himself on these CD-ROMs. And he's overwhelmed with joy since they sound to him very good! Huh! :(

Steve has just released (2) new projects:

1) The re-release of "flexible leftovers" that not only contains all the tracks from the original 10" ep, but also several songs from that period that were recently re-recorded especially for this release.

2) "Merry Axemas 2" on which steve does not perform, but serves as producer. After the success of last year's "merry axemas", Steve has enlisted players who did not participate in the first release such as Steve Lukather, Neal Schon, Steve Stevens, Zack Wylde, John Sykes, & Al Dimeola among others.

Steve is also still working on compiling his 10 cd monster box set that is now scheduled for release in oct 1999. In addition to that (as if that's not enough!!!!), Steve is also recording material for his next solo cd which he hopes to release in the spring of 1999.
