Awesome. Dave Ling used to be totally pro-DT back when he wrote for RAW,
and Jerry Ewing has written some very complimentary DT reviews recently for
    Metal Hammer.

This magazine will be cool. :-)

There's a live album called "Once in a Lifetime" by Runrig, a Scottish band
who seem to be popular in Germany for some reason. :-) It's rock with a
strong Celtic flavour . . . the lyrics are a mixture of English and Gaelic.

It's worth checking out for an awesome live rocked-up rendition of the
classic Scottish folk song "Loch Lomond", with a super singalong chorus.

Hi guys... On first I have to say that my english is not so good ( spaghetti englisch ) so I apologize before starting this message for my licteral errors. My name is luca ( no ... i don't live on the second floor ) and I'm the bass player of a group called 'Onde Rock'. We live and play in Milano ( Italy ) since 1995 ( I mean that we start playng togheter three years ago not that I'm three years old.... of course ). We play foundamentally DT tunes. Well .... we were invited to play for the DT day by the Italian Dreamers ( DT fans club ) that took place in Curno (BG) 03-OCT-98. It was an incredible experience....I tink that there was about 600 people listening and we were so exited.... We play in a very very good way... All the guys from audience sings for all the during of the show. Those are the tunes we play:

Mission impossible Erotomania/Pull me under Silent man The mirror Another day Peruvian sky/Enter sandman The big medley Wait for sleep Sourrounded Under a glass moon

I have recorded all the show with my handycam and I have already made a CD with a very good sound quality. Soon I place the MP3 version of the show on my home page (http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Pines/9010/) Pictures of the show are accessible at http://www.fortunecity.com/tinpan/collins/386/dt/dtday.htm . I hope that we could do that another time in the future. For question write to mailto:onderock@usa.net . see ya soon

I just comunication back to the net! I'm a DT fan from Puerto Rico, and boy did Georges did a number on us! I got power back just 5 days ago and still have no water. At least I''m alive, and most important, my DT cd's survived. Infact thats all I did during the weeks after the hurricane, plug my bass to my Ibanez Rock n' Play and practice on my DT songs. If it wasn't for DT I would probably have gone crazy. Thanks guys, you have made me very happy on some not so happy times for my island. Anyways because of that damn hurricane Van Halen could not do their show which was scheduled the night before the storm, but they'll be back...hopefully. And on a final note, I read on the DT's official web page that Mike Portnoy said that DT is probably coming down to Puerto Rico...CAN ANYBODY CONFIRM THAT PLEASE!!!

As Joshua mentioned in one of the recent jams he is currently selling new (v4!) Ytsejam T-Shirts. I just wanted to give a HUGE recommendation for these. I got my last week and I love it. Not only is it a great t-shirt, but its a great icebreaker. I bet there are at least twenty or thiry people on this list who I have seen wearing Ytsejam-wear at shows and I have gone right up to them and been like, "Hey! You on the list? Who are you?" So, just wanted to say, go order one of these now.

    Skadz

PS - NO, Josh is not giving me ANYTHING to do this, I just really like the shirt :P

After abandoning the idea to ever understand how people sweep-pick appreggios O wrote: And the solos, they really suck. Well, he's fast (the fastest and most stabile guy I've heard...), but speed doesn't make that profound feeling and melody a good solo has (JP/Vai/Satch/Gilmour etc etc etc).

To O: Well, Mister O, the above statement sounds like a pathetic excuse of a loser, who would give his right hand to play half as fast as Yngwie does, but just can't get past playing pentatonic straignt eights over a 35 tempo! Piece of advice: leave Yngwie alone, and go offer your services to your local alterno-outfit, or even better, just shut up and go practise those scales you talk so much about. It will sure do you some good. Oh, and if you're such a connoisseur of neo-classical metal, name a one single half-decent band in this genre which does not have a shredder in it (and who doesn't sound like he salivated over "rising force" while attending primary school). I will sure be interested to know who they are!

To Everyone else: "Facing the Animal" is indeed the best Yngwie album of the last 10 years. So if you want to check out neo-classical metal's most ingenious and effective guitarist (hell, he invented this style): FIND IT, GRAB IT, then put it in your CD player and get a hint of what neo-classical shred is all about.

    Amen to that, Denis.

P.S. And please take note that the only one I'm flaming here is O. P.P.S. And O, if you think that there is one single ounce of emotion in what Steve Vai is playing, then I strongly urge you to contact either your shrink or an ear therapist ASAP......

There, under "Discography" you can see the front cover of "Once In A LIVEtime" 2CD.

The picture is strange but very cool. I like it. There is a new DT font which is by the way, the worst DT font I've seen.

    Any comments ?

As I was driving into work this morning, listening to TAMP. . .it struck me just how awesome LaBrie's voice is. He can drive a stake through my heart on some of those notes.

With so much damn talent in this band. I can go for weeks/months absolutely smitten with any one of the member's talents.

It's no wonder I never tire of this band.

    Have a great week Jammers. . .

Hi jammers, I am still eager to know what people think of the recorded acos seasons version compared to the old one, after 3 years...

sorry, calvin6s to quote you again, but you wrote: On previous DT albums when the chorus ended and went back into a verse, the verse was similar (chord progression) yet different instrumentation. To me, that is the VARIETY that makes me listen to a DT song and NEVER grow tired of it. >> That's exactly the thing what makes pmu so fucking amazing. You're absolutely right on that one. I don't mind FII the way it is, cause I love it, but if there's a piece to point out to make it more prog in most peoples "music categorie picture" this is maybe the missing point.

You know what? The next studio album will be different. People won't like it. Life ain't no picknick. I ain't delivering a sermon here, but they write their music, the way(hopefully) they like it. If you don't, don't buy it.(sorry mike, but..) All we can do is give our feedback, but they won't change their music because hamsterxyz@hike.kug dislikes the overdubbed guitar part in the 3rd verse of wait for sleep.

I seize my day, but rosebuds are kinda out of season... schnipp
