    Hey Kids,

I Recently picked up the hollow years single CD. On it (as per my subject) is You Not Me, the demo version of YOM. In the intro with the sampled SFX, we hear the fuzz on the radio then, "...I NEED SOME PENCILS!!!".
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's from the game You Don't Know Jack. I got a kick out of it.
Can we add this to the FAQ ;>

BTW, I met Josh Rasiel, and picked up two of his new Ytsejam Tee's...they are very cool....GET one.

Whooh we need to stop this crap about emotion. What is emotion in music?
You can say that sombody sounds like they are playing with more emotion
than the other, but is it realisticly true. God forbid someone could say
that Kurt Cobain plays with more emotion than David Gilmore, I might give
him a real funny look. Music is a power not an emotion. That power can be
used to make you express feelings, that power can make you dance, that
power can make you enchanted, that power can make you angry. You can say
that so and so plays with no emotion. Is that what he is trying to do?
Grand Parade of Lifeless Packaging is a great example of what you would
call no emotional, but Genesis wanted it to be that way by saying we are
produced (listen to the song). What is emotional to me is not music, it
can bring out emotions, but it is not 100%emotional. If JP wanted to make
a guitar solo make me sad, I'm sure he could do it. If Yngwie wanted to do
I'm sure he could. It's not who plays with more emotion, it's whose
playing brings out the emotions in me. This is and endless mindless
discussion. No one will ever win and no one should.

First of all i would like to say that anyone that disputes Steve Vai and
Petrucci and say they don't have emotion is wacked out of their mind. There
is no guitarist in the world that doesn't have emotion when they play. WE all
express it in own way. Steve has his unique style to say what he wants to
say, if you can't listen to his music without feeling something then you are
just not listening. Clear your mind and take away any thing you might all
ready prejudge, even players who people don't consider talented or a superb
player have feeling in their playing and are trying to say something with
their instrument. To say that these men or any guitar player has no feeling
is insane. If you are a guitar player, think about what you are trying to say
when you are playing; if isn't emotion then you better quit.

Hey drum machine users and midi freaks, I have a question.

    I have a Roland/Boss DR-5 (the 4 track arranger/wannabe sequencer) and I'm
out of space... I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to dump all of the
data in a way in which it could be reloaded at a later date. Anyone else
with this machine have any ideas?

    Hi all.

I picked up "at the end of the day" by the Galactic Cowboys. I am quite
pleased with this album. The extended Machine Fish suite is wonderful,
and the writing overall top-notch... though I did dislike Doss's hitting
us over the head with his prelude to departure in that final song. I
mean really.. we're prog fans... we CAN understand subtlety, and don't
need explicit instructions. :) Overall this one is a definite buy. I
would rank it third among their six CD releases.

In other news, there are two different "The Dance of Eternity" boot CDs
out there.. one without the "The" if I recall right. One is a single
disc show from Buffalo, and is OK in its own right. The other is a
2-disc set from the Limelight in New York City, and is the
highly-regarded boot of yore with the old ACOS and sampled Eve on it.
Neither are particularly hard to find anymore.

I lost track of the release date for Once in a Livetime, so I'll just
look it up on the cyber moon, but it might be a good idea for it to be
put at the header of the Jam or something, as a courtesy to new arrivals
and those who are returning to school for the fall term. I don't know
who would be in charge of this (Skadz?) but there ya go. :)

For all those still waiting on orders, and there aren't many left,
they're still getting fulfilled. Many of you have your final orders by
now in your hands, or have received them over the past few weeks. I
stopped taking orders over a month ago now, and have quietly been
completing all the discs and finishing the Prism project. I have,
completely randomly, been inserting "extra goodies" into the orders that
have had to wait this long, including such things as extra demo discs
(discs that I had that got reserved and made but never paid for),
metallic-ink-dyed covers that shine foil in the light, gold/gold/white
media out of a sample case I was given to test for 3M for
surface-printability plus capacity, and so forth. There is no favoritism
to these bonuses... I simply throw a bunch of them in until I run out of
my supply of the goodie in question. This is just my thanks to you for
    your patience.

One final note; please don't call the store to ask about Prism stuff.
As far as Wizard's Tower is concerned, there's no such thing as "Prism
Records". This is a legal necessity as I'm sure you can understand,
since WTGC has been 100% legit from day one. Also, the phone line I had
for Prism is now the main voice line for the people we have as tenants
in our home (renting the back rooms where I used to have my CD-making
gear). Therefore, the best way to contact me or Melissa is via e-mail...
    emerald@goodnet.com is best.

Thanks all and I'll let you get back to regular Jam content now. And
buy the GC album, it's great!!!

Neo - new. Classical - of the classical period. NeoClassical - music written in the present but purposefully reminiscent of the classical period. To say Yngwie Malmsteen "invented this style" is to say he deserves a medal of honor for repeating a style of music that was popular a long time ago, and popular for a long, long time. He's the closest thing I've ever heard to a "perfect" guitar player, but was the style in existence before Yngwie? Is it a ghost he brings back to the corporeal world or has he really created a whole style of music? Itzhak Perlman will never be regarded by ANY classical music fan as the "inventor" of his style of violin-playing, regardless of how many times he plays Beethoven's Violin Concerto. And I love Brian Setzer's style, but I'm not about to say he was the first person to dream up swing guitar.

Were you absent when Pandora showed everyone how NOT to open things? Hi there, I'm O's shrink. To flame Steve Vai is to invite a hellstorm. Now play two sweep arpeggios and call me in the morning. And remember, I'm not just a shrink and an ear therapist, but I'm also one stunt-monkey of a guitar player.

I realize this is off-topic, so I will not bring it up again. I just want to briefly clarify some things, and you can all happily return to a Jeff Falk-free mailing list until I so arrogantly intrude on it again. Ticketmaster may very well practice "unfairly." In today's political and economic situation, that is all too common, and it is usually related to activity that is incorrectly considered to be the "equalizer" or enforcer of fairness: government intervention. I was commenting on the idea that charging of high prices is tantamount to robbery. There is a big difference between robbery and commerce, namely that commerce is _voluntary_ and robbery is coercive. In the interest of saving bandwith, I will not get into it further here. I would recommend a certain author who could clarify this a lot better than I can, but her name is almost as unpopular around here as mine is. Besides, those who are interested either know what it is or will find out soon enough.

Being a Greek myself and living in Greece for all my life I have to say that we shouldn't bring this thread to the ytsejam list. It's complety out of topic, besides I think that political discasions are not allowed here. Lets keep it to our own private inboxes. I think Dushko would agree (by the way I don't have anythink against you ppl from FYROM, its always the damn politicians). And the rest of the Balkan don't get involved, it's non of you busines (that goes for Victor and Matej). And by the way Alexander the Great was indeed Greek, (historians says so)!!!! Sorry for being off topic, it won't happen again.

Anyone might have any idea why Lemur Voice is unknown here in Greece. I think they are on Magna Carta, right? Well I know that other releases of Magna Carta eventually come here (after 2 or 3 months maybe) but they don't. Anyway, any good advises on how to get, in my hands, their first. By they way I don't have a credit card (I've already thought of CDNOW and CO.). Could someone buy it for me and send it here? I'll pay of course for the CD and the mail.

    Buy and keep ytsejamming Mike

PS. Its really nice to know that there are other ppl from Greece are here. Hi Nikos and Asmodel.

Macedonia is a state, a former republic of Yugoslavia that gained independence. And if somebody is wondering I'm from Slovenia and don't Greece at all. Flame on! Sebastjan P.S. I promised the whole matter would end up there, most ppl in the list are from the States and they dont care much about all this Balkan shit. I've already talked with Dushko and, though we'll never agree-at least on some topics- we respect each other,we dont need argueing. But some slovenian guy pops in and speaks as if he's FYROM's (or whatever its called,we call 'em Skopje, they call themselves Macedonia, even Petrucciland sounds great to me!) advocate. Its more than obvious, you back up Dushko just becoz u once belonged to the same country..now Slovenia is independent,is filthy rich, gets all the support of the world by Germany, how are u supposed to talk about such things and judge us? Greeks behave like "jerks" when it comes to that Macedonia topic, coz they defend their country and beliefs. If someone was to attack the US,the americans would rather destroy the whole world than get conquered right? And they'd be -partly- right. We say what we think is right, just as the "macedonians" do.As about Alexander.. first of all,we got a history of 4000 years,we got every right to the name Greece (which is wrong anyway,Hellas is the correct one),we woulnt be called "Former Part of whatever.."..second and last,I dont really think Alexander the Great wasnt greek, show me one historian that can prove he belonged to some other country..I dont admire him anyway, all these "great" men were nothing but butchers.

    Thanks,Asmodel

    ps greetings to Dushko
