Well, at least the OiAL version is based on the demo version, which most
of the people seem to prefer, instead of the album 'latin' version... I
like them all, so I don't care much... :)

I went to the Kings X, Galactic Cowboys, and Division show last night at
Jaxx in Springfield VA. It turned out to be a very very late night...

We get down there early to eat some pizza at the joint next door. Mike
and Matt from Division stop over and tell us that KX called from
Knoxville at 1pm that afternoon saying they are on the way. Well, that
is like 10 hours away. On weekends at Jaxx the headliner comes on at
midnight. Yesterday, KX was supposed to be on by 10pm. Division went on
at 8:30 with the whole stage empty except for their stuff as the bus
hadn't arrived yet. They did a decent set, with a few sound problems.
They played a lot of the new material from the new cd which they
released yesterday. (Buy this!) Well finally at around 10:30 I think the
bus arrived. So GC comes on at 11:30 and plays about an hour. They
played a few songs from the new disc. The new disc has quite a few
catchy songs which sound great live. For a band with a new drummer, they
sounded great. KX finally went on at 1:15 and played about 1 hour and 20
-25 minutes. For no sound check they sounded great. They played a mix of
songs from the new disc and their hits. The new songs sound killer so
the new album should be great. So I drive the hour+ to get home and go
to bed at 4am. I am way too wired to sleep so I try vainly and finally
sleep at approximately 5:30. I'm up at 7:30 to go to work.

Check out this tour if you can.

Thanks for putting that out. Someone that agrees with me, but emotional playing is still to general. It's what kind of emotion the musician wants to express.

When did the Limelight 2 CD show become easily available again? A little while ago originals were trading for $100 or more, and were impossible to find from vendors. Just wondering if things have changed, or if this boot is still a gem. Also, what about Lost in the Sky? What's this one worth?

    Hello Y'ALL ;-)

Well, I'm back from an interesting trip to Houston, TX! (actually I got back a couple of days ago, but I'm lazy so......)

Yes, I managed to avoid; 1. Cowboy boots 2. Cowboy hats 3. Country music (though it's still better than the glut of rap that we have here in Detroit).

Didn't manage to avoid: Swing. While we were down there, two friends (of my friend who was getting married) took me to a swing club after the wedding. I NEVER thought that this might actually be cool...... but I'll be damned! It sure was! Aside from the (really good) live band we saw - Spies Like Us, in the car to/from we listened to some Royal Crown Revue, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and Brian Setzer Orchestra. I went ahead and picked up "Big Bad Voodoo Daddy" when I got back to Detroit (if anybody's seen the rather funny movie "Swingers", this was the band in the movie). I have to say that this is a really cool disc, and any 'jammers who are looking to try something new might want to check it out (actually, I really think this would appeal to many of the more open minded jammers). Any of you already familiar with this stuff?

GOOD NEWS: I managed to score a couple of converts to DT when I was there.......

Here's something funny (small world kinda funny) for you Sava-fans: I played some Savatage for this friend of my friend down there (DWD, and TWoM). We were listening to TWoM (keep in mind I didn't meet this guy until just the day before.... and knew zero about him), and I was explaining the story concept to him. All of a sudden he's like "HOLY SHIT!" Remember the Maersk Dubai? This #&#&$%#* guy works for Maersk (don't worry..... he didn't throw anybody overboard)! He started there a little while ago, and some of the guys at work had just explained the whole insane story to him the other day!

I saw the new Fates Warning live CD "Still Life" yesterday at the store (I'll have to pick it up soon), and I'm a little surprised nobody has really posted any reviews or anything yet......... Cool cover on it, BTW.

I did pick up "Apocolyptica Plays Metallica By Four Cellos". My first impression: "EGADS! What the hell is this?!". After two or so listens I was starting to enjoy it though. I must say that some songs lend themselves more easily to the conversion than others. "Unforgiven" and "Master of Puppets" come across really well, whereas "Harvester of Sorrow" wasn't as good, for example.

hi oldtimers, I checked the FAQ twice but couldn't find the section where it explains why one of the shows where ACOS was performed years ago is known as an infamous show. Just because he changed the lines? I sort of curious about that. I got Charlie's video and it's ok, looks alittle like a Japan thing( in memory of Yngwie's first live video) and I am not sure if I'd like to share this insight of my youth with everybody on the street. But hey, what happened to John P.'s headbanging qualities on the road? He seems so relaxed, only on my last show in Duesseldorf 97 he was that kind of relaxed. Anyway, I am awaiting my copy of Static Progress today, whil another questions strucks me: the intro of 6:00, the drum fill.I am only a guitarist so I want to know if I hear correctly if I hear a group of 2 and then 4 groups of 3?

The Limelight 3/5/93 show (THE Dance of Eternity show) was infamous because it was the first time that ACoS was performed live in its entirety. It was very different than the album version and became a "cult classic" among DT fans at the time. It was also the catalyst behind the big Ytsejam petition that helped get ACoS recorded into the EP everyone knows and loves.

Plus, I believe that was the only show where Eve was performed with the samples....though there might be others...I think that may have been the first, if not the only.....

    hope that helps, Al

OK, let me clear this up for anyone who likes to argue ancient history and kill each other over it...

New archeological evidence has proven that Alexander the Great was actually from Madagascar. Studies show that he was 4 foot tall pygmy, and was very talented with a blow gun (which allowed him to rise to power). Because of this talent, he was sometimes called "Great". Over the years, confusion amoung translators lead to the belief that he might have been "Greek". Now his actual birthplace was a village in Madagascar called Maevetanana. Errors in the verbal history and subsequent translation have led some to believe that this was "Macedonia". Thanks to modern archeology, we can now put all of this arguing to rest. Alexander was not Greek or Macedonian. He was a little blow-gun toting pygmy.

And the current borders of countries in the "Balkan-Macedonian-Greek-Bulgarian" area have been found to have existed 1 million years ago. So legally, they should all stay right where they are... ;o)
