Division's new disc is Ascension (or Ascencion heh) to Eternity and it
is out as of this past Wednesday. This is a great disc by the way. Much
better than their first effort Paradise Lost (which is still good). Get
    this disc.

Currently my top disc of the year is the new one from Power of Omens.
This cd seriously kicks butt. Geoff Tate never sounded this good...

Other discs battling for the top positions include Superior's Younique,
Shadow Gallery's Tyranny, KISS's Psycho Circus, Savatage's Wake of
Magellan, Division's ATE. Is there anything I am forgetting...

I don't feel live discs should make the top of the year so the new Fates
and DT wont be considered even though I will get them and I am sure they
    will be awesome.

I was thinking the same thing. I've got a dozen FII boots and never have the backup vocals sounded this good. I got a promo set of OIAL yesterday (which was promptly stolen by my brother who lives a few miles away - bastard) and there are a few things that stand out to me. Noticed these also when Lisa Marie played the CDs on Ytseradio (thanks Lisa!):

    1) The backup vocals. They sound great. On key (which isn't always the case live), clear (also not always the case) and in unison. I don't mind backup vocal overdubs, just commenting. The finished product sounds great...

    2) The lead vocals. Either James had close to the night of his life or there are some dubs in here. There are certain notes on certain songs that James _always_ (as far as I've heard) sounds at least "gravelly" on (the end of Lie is a great example). On this recording he sounds dead-on-balls-accurate (first person to come up with that movie reference gets my promo OIAL - ya right) for the most part. :-) You do hear some flaws from him tho' (unlike in the overdubbed Ronnie Scott's cuts from ACOS), so maybe he just kicked ass that night. He IS the man, of course... :)

Question: Would there be any interest in a Ytseradio spot that included almost nothing but live bootleg material? I'm not talking about the generic boot CDs you can buy anywhere, but stuff most people haven't heard.

    Take care everyone!

A friend and I are going to the show but his wife will have to stay home with the baby and she REALLY wanted to go. So brighten up a new mother's life and help me out. Thanx in advance.

I really thought that ytsejam was bunch of people devoted to music. Good and well written that is. I'v e put in tons of my comments on certain subjects. All I have seen is you people bashing good musicians. I hope all of you can play better than Derek, Jordan, Vai, Satriani, and choice others you tend to bash all the time. If you can where are you I've heard of these guys not you. It tends to get a bit tireing seen who thinks who is better than who. I guarentee they are all better than us. Its hard enough for these guys to make money in the biz because they are not popular or a fad, what popular music has turned into. With fans like you I wouldn't want you to buy my albums. Why should I want to do anything for you people if you are going to bash every good musician that comes around. Every person I have seen you bash I like. Of course I like some better than others but I'm not going to bash them, nor am I going to stop buying their cd's in hopes they will go under. When I joined this web site I really thought it was a buch of people who still enjoyed good music. I think I was mistaken. It is really time for me to get off this mailing list and its really too bad being a huge DT fan, and this is no offence to them. It's just pretty sad when a fan mailing list turns into this.

I really hope someone will read this and maybe you will realize whose mailing list we are on.

    Its really too bad CJBass

They quote from "Masque of the Red Death" in their song "Vanishing Lessons," (from the album of the same name) they have an instrumental track named after Poe's "Descent into the Maelstrom," (from their album Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance) and they have a song based on and titled "The Telltale Heart" (from their most recent album Crawl to China). They do also thank Poe in their liner notes :).

Hello, I need a recommendation on an overdrive pedal. My main setup is an Ibanez JS (dual humbucker) into a Fender M-80 (solid state). The gain on my amp is great for metal playing, but not for a milder blues tone. I know that many traditional ODs will sound like crap through a solid state amp, so does anyone have any recommendations for an effective pedal? I'm hoping for something along the lines of a Collective Soul type sound. I know that TS-9s aren't great for humbucking guitars, but I've heard good things about Danelectro pedals. Any thoughts? Sorry for the NDTC clutter...

Maybe im just lazy.but for a nice earthy?/warm tone.. ( i have an ibanez rg w/ Hum/single/hum config ) i just turn the volume notch to about 2, and use either the neck, or the 2nd position from the neck on the switch.. btw i just connect the Rg to my fender rockpro 1000 combo amp... heh.. maybe what im doing is just lazy ( or crappy ) but i love the sound it gives
