    Attention: Australian Progressive Metal Fans,

I program Australia's only weekly Progressive Metal Radio Show in
Gippsland (104.7 - Gippsland FM) on Sunday nights from 12:30 am called
    'Screaming Symphony'.
I also have a lot of information on Australian Progressive Metal
bands such as Eyefear, Vanishing Point, and Vauxdvihl and have a mailing
list being sent around to interested parties regarding
news/reviews/interviews that have taken place not only on radio but also
information about Australian Progressive Metal. Gig guides and trades as
well. Also information on where to obtain prog metal cd's at a decent
price (ie not 35 dollars a cd).
Novice or Expert, give me an email and I can put you on the list:
    For the music,

    Hey All,
Erotomania has definitely been played live. The first time I saw DT in New
London on12/30/95, they played A Mind Besides Itself in its entirety. Mike
also inserted his drum solo in the middle of Erotomania.

In fact, Nick Bogovich is correct about the original transfer of ACOS
and Eve, but not for the reasons that he thought: in fact, I didn't
actually master Subconscious. The CD plant dude Al Moore did, back in
the day when he wanted to micromanage what I did. He mastered everything
up through SFAM, with varying results. The Subcon Gold xfer of those
tracks is a direct digital rip and sounds 100% better.

I saw someone on here who requested the rush digest (better known as The National Midnight Star) mailing address.

You can send mail to rush-request@tnms.com, with the subject of "subscribe". In the body, state your name as well. You'll then receive a file that tells you how to post, how to unsubscribe, how to ftp to the syrinx site, etc.

    There ya be! :-)

Yes, Erotomania has been played live. If you want a high quality bootleg containing "A Mind Beside Itself" in its entirety, then try to get your copy of Kiss the Stone's "Mind Control". It's from the very same show broadcast by Wowow, which many people have already...

Cool bootleg, BTW, despite the weak performance on James' side (it's been said that he had health problems that week).

Yes, plugging your computer's soundcard to the auxiliary line in of your stereo. Be careful to keep the level of the sound "low", that is, to peak at 0dB (in fact, with analog medium, you can peak the signal at a little over 1dB, if you're using high quality tapes).

If you go past 1dB, then you'll get distortion (quite annoying -- this very same distortion is the one you hear in many audience bootlegs, because the volume of the equipment at the gig is so damn high). If you are using digital equipment, then you have to really pay a huge amount of attention to the level of the signal, because going past 0dB means clipping.

    Hope this helps, Roger...

    Greetings ye 'jamanoids....

Chuck B. wants to know: >anyway, does anybody out there know if the guys from 'tage are >gonna get together and make another TSO offering?

"The Christmas Attic", another concept Christmas album from the TSO bunch, is all finished. Release date is currently set for October 13th and if history is any indication, you better snap your copy up quick before it vanishes utterly from the stores.

"Christmas Eve and Other Stories", due to tremendous demand, will also be rereleased again this year in time for the Christmas season.

TSO is now in the studio working on the next opus, fusing classical music with the rock style again but without the Christmas theme this time. Working title is "Beethoven's Last Night" and the musical style and theme will be heavily influenced by, naturally, Beethoven. If we're lucky it'll appear in stores sometime in mid-1999.

    Ta, Phil

Talk about withholding information. I had no idea about this! (digs around for $15 to spend on a CD for Tuesday). Is there any info on Savatage's live vid I haven't heard about? Or the live album? Or the new album I heard was being released early next year?

First of all... The "9" was a typo, it should have been an "8." My mistake.

Secondly, most of the people here are using a GUI OS. With the ability to adjust screen resolution and font size at the viewing end, the ASCII standard doesn't mean squat. I don't think text readers are all that fussy, either.

I attempted to make my post informative. Your post was unnecessarily insulting.

What do you get when you cross a bass player that seldom speaks and has fingers like ET, With a adrenalized Octo-drummer, a vocalist that on a good day can hit notes only bats can hear, a over sexed, vitamin E abusing keyboard player that can play faster then he can pick up chicks, and a guy that has a cat named "Little Girl" and plays guitar? Hehe, I saw them YESTERDAY evening in the Biebob in Vosselaar, Belgium. Man everything you wrote about them is absolutely true!! I only have S-X and TiO, but hey, these guys ROCKED like hell. It was one of the best concerts i've ever been to...

Opening band was the English (i think) band Mindfeed. They played pretty straight-forward metal... Not really progressive, but they did quite a good job. It was obvious though that the audience was waiting for Symphony X. They played for 1h20mins and it was just amazing. I didn't expect them to be able to play the music with the same accuracy as on CD, but they did. Romeo and Pinella were just great. The way they handle their solos is just incredible. The new bass player did a good job too, I don't know what is name is though. Jason Rullo was already familiar with a lot of SX's work, so he really fitted in well... Russell Allen was a big surprise for me. Unlike Romeo and Pinella he's a real frontman. Energetic, extravert, funny, short-haired:-), anyway, just a really cool guy...

Hell, i'm still so blown away from last night that i don't know what to write next. Oh yeah: the setlist. I'm not familiar with DWoT or Damnation Game, so here's what they played from TiO: Through the looking Glass, Dragon's Den, Smoke & Mirrors and Church of the Machine... They didn't play anything from their first album, though some people shouted for them to play Absynthe and Rhue...

Okay that's all for now... I'm going to order Divine Wings next week:-)
