    Hi folks,

On Wednesday night I will be doing an interview with RHAPSODY for my
upcoming web page. Ok I guess that I could come up with some
questions but I thought that I would ask people for suggestions. So
if you have some questions that you would like to ask RHAPSODY please
e-mail me personally and I will ask them. Thanks.

Are there any actual DT music books out there? I saw on UACM that there were DT tab books available at Amazon.com, but what I'm looking for is not the TAB books, but actual books of DT music, in staff form, for piano and/or bands? Is there such a thing, or has everybody who has performed DT covers done so through tablatures and ingenuity?

YES! Put some semi-DT (ok, Queensryche, close enough) content in something non-DT related!!!!! sweat me now......

    A couple of other things......

1.) Hate the new DT font. Sue me. 2.) Saw the Rollins spoken word show. Kicked my ass once again. 3.) Saw Incubus and System of a Down this weekend. Incubus kicked serious butt-ocks. System of a Down surprisingly kicked my ass as well. Very tight band, and very very weird. Not bad at all though. AND it was at the Birch Hill (a stretch for DT content) and there were a LOT of people there. Not as much as for the Home for the Holidays tour. I believe there were about 1100 people there this weekend. Anyway, this girl next to me was complaining about how packed it was. I just laughed and said, imagine about 400 more people in here........

I was stuck in the supermarket chekout lines yesterday and someone had left a copy of Metal Edge in one of the tabloid slots. So I picked it up and looked through it. There wasn't much to it at all, but there was a review of the new live DT album. This review gave the cd(s) and the band itself a great review.

Looks like Musicblvd finally shipped my copy of Still Life by FW. I had advanced ordered it. The day of its release I got an email saying it was backordered. What is the point of advance ordering if it gets backordered... Anyway the only reason I stuck with the order was that I was getting the set for less than $5 after a discount.

I don't think Triumph sounds like Rush! but they both are 3 piece bands from Canada, thats about the only comparison.

Anyways, I got my Fates "Still Life" today, its great but I don't think it will knock the new Bruce Dickinson's "Chemical Wedding" out of my current top spot. also in heavy rotation in the cd player are Superior "Younique" and the new Shadow Gallery, both excellent discs!!!!

Whoa whoa wait a minute here... No personal offense, but that's one of the dumbest things I've read in quite a while. First of all, no one said anything about driving 3 hours; if you would read before rebutting, you would find out that it was an hour and a half drive. But who cares how long they drove? I remember Mike Portnoy saying that when fans drive cross-country to see DT, he considers it the biggest compliment a band can receive. Since when does driving and waiting to meet a musician you hold in high regard equal stalking? That's fucking stupid. I don't recall reading anything about trying to follow Chris home or roadtripping to every show. And "get a life"? I'll bet that the majority of the people on this list either have or would wait a while/drive long distances to meet musicians they admire. I certainly have, and I consider myself to have a nice life. As I said, it's not like they were following the guy around the country, geez. DeGarmo should've been flattered. He doesn't deserve the loyalty fans give him. Just because he's too "cool" to be associated with Queensryche now that he's out (he got his ryche tattoo covered up for God's sake) doesn't mean he should act that way towards his former fans. I don't care if he doesn't like to see his former supporters come out to see him decked in their Queensryche gear--tough luck. It's gonna happen, and unless he wants his reputation to nosedive QUICK he'd better change his ways and be thankful for the fact that the music he made in the last 15 or 16 years has touched people enough to show that kind of loyalty. He should be honored, the ungrateful cuntmuffin. I hope Queensryche's next album just kicks so much ass...

THIS SUCKS. Hey, dump Portnoy and get Paul Craddick (could there be a more under-appreciated player out there?) to do it. Seriously, I LOVE Mike' playing, and I realize that this is going to be total flame-bait, but why does every supergroup now revolve around him? Well, I can answer that myself: Mike (and DT's reputation) sells records. It's tough to be us, isn't it?

    Mike

Maybe I'm wrong, but aren't all of Mike's "Supergroup" projects with the Magna Carta label? I think that would explain it. They just like mike! Besides, I hardly think that EVERY supergroup out there involves Portnoy.

Well most tab books include staff notation as well, but if you're looking for full music scores then i understand that there was some catalog in japan that was selling complete scores for every instrument of every DT album. They cost something like the equivalent of $50 each, but it's a full band score so it's worth it. As for getting it, i dunno, someone was ordering em in bulk for us and then distributing em to people, but i dunno who it was or if they're still doing that. Basically, ordering just one from japan wouldn't be worth it cuz of the conversion rates or something. I'm not sure. Anyone else have more info on this? Moo.

BLS. Explorers Club. and i'm sure there are plenty more. it just seems that mike is in every supergroup cuz this is a DT ML so in general the ones that get mentioned here are the ones involving DT members. I think. Sorry for the multiple posts. Just call me DreamNDay. Moo.

I normally don't post much, but this post about DeGarMoo caught my eye, and I decided it was worth opening my mouth. This is just my perspective; I'm not going to involve myself in any ensuing arguments. ;)

Harmon scrobe: > Considering this was my first experience meeting a member/former member > of the band which started me down my metal highway I was extremely > dissapointed and in shock. I realize the guy's not in QR anymore, but > his indifference was not needed.

In my never-particularly-humble opinion, you were setting yourself up for disappointment if you drove all that way to see Chris just so you could reminisce about Queensryche. Did it not occur to you that walking up to a guy and asking him about a band he left a year ago might be a wee bit rude? He was there promote and play the work he'd done with Jerry Cantrell, not talk about stuff he was obviously trying to put behind him. I know Kevin Moore was never particularly excited to be quizzed about Dream Theater after he left; would you expect Chris to be any different?

    > He may be struggling with his life or whatever, but that just > didn't excuse his actions in my opinion.

Last time I checked, members of bands, former and otherwise, are human -- they have problems, issues, pet peeves, and plain ol' bad days just like the rest of us poor mortals. I think it's pretty unfair to get your knickers in a twist because he didn't want to talk with you about a band he'd left behind. Not that I haven't seen people in various bands over the years be complete assholes without provocation, but as far as I'm concerned, that's a pretty lousy excuse to be disappointed. He doesn't owe you anything. It's good public relations to interact with one's fans, yes, but there is by no means any *obligation* to do so. ::thinks back to a certain flamewar about whether or not this list ought to have been (or deserved to be) mentioned on the FII liner::

For what it's worth, I understand your sentiment; a lot of us point to the Ryche as being one of the bands that got us into metal, but you have to remember that every joe and his brother (and the occasional sister <G>) have probably been telling Chris this for the last year, as well as for the 15 years he was in the band. I imagine he just wants to put it all behind him. Sucks for you, sure, but that's just the way it goes. If the guy wanted to talk about Queensryche, he would've brought up the topic himself. Don't assume that just because you're a fan of his former band, he's automatically obliged to field questions about that band.

All in all, I suspect that he would've been much more appreciative and chatty had you wanted to know more about his *current* project...

Hey all- Since I haven't seen any reviews for Destiny as of yet and since I recieved mine in the mail on Saturday I figured I would post a quick review. (I've only listened twice, though, so it isn't going to be detailed) The album starts just incredibly with the epic title track: Destiny. The song has everything we've come to expect from Strato and I especially like how many things the song does. It starts with some female vocals, then the music kicks in, then Koltipelto takes over, and then it eventually slows down and has a very epic feeling finish. Very nice song...The second track is the single; SOS, which is also very solid. Once again, typical strato, but with some more of those powerful background vocals. Track 3 is one of those Stratovarius type "use your time wisely" style songs but once again powerful and both Timos rock. I haven't listened to the rest enough to give an adequate review, but there are about 3 ballads and one more epic style song- "Anthem of the World". This album is just as good, if not better, than Visions on just a couple of listens and I know it will only grow on me. In general, Destiny is a bit faster than Visions (which I think is a good thing), but not quite as fast as Episode. But overall, solid as expected. Definitely a pick up for us Stratovarius fans. Later.

You may have to play it a lot more times before you eventually 'win'. Besides which, a person who always plays to win will mostly be disappointed. You may think John and Rena Petrucci (and Mike and Marlene Portnoy) have 'won' but you can bet they had to work at it along the way. There is a saying 'A successful marriage is an edifice that has to be REBUILT every day'.

Be realistic! Learn from your loss, use the experience, perhaps (dare I say it) even write a song or two. Life and love are all about compromise after all. 'Don't Give Up' to quote a Peter Gabriel/Kate Bush song..............
