This shows how little you know. You guys admit that you know nothing,
and then try to argue it.

Listen good 5/12 means there are 5 __***12th notes***__ per measure.

If you don't even know what a time signature is, then shut up about it!

No way! This should reflect the honest opinion of the listeners.
Otherwise, you're asking for a top 20 band list, not album list. Well, I
think DT has more than 1 album that deserves 2 go here.
Personally, I would not consider Awake one of them.

But what if someone actually thought that all of DTs albums were the
best they had heard? They should be able 2 voice that.

And if other bands like Rush or Queensryche come up a lot, well, it's
reflective of the music of the ytsejam. I for one will be HONEST with my
    entry.

This will include Robert Miles, TaDream (of course), Depeche Mode, and
more than 1 album by Queensryche (Rage and Empire)...

I've just discovered why arguments with Chris Ptacek are so darn tough. Just
now I read a post by him in which he quoted a slew of different people

Listen to Uncle Ptacek. There is no such thing as 12th notes. Music is ma= th. A 12th note would be like writing stuff down in octals or hexadecimal= s or even binary code, rather than our standard numeric notation, which i= s in the base of 10. But that=B4s not why I=B4m writing. I just wanted to note that it was une= cessary to throw some homophobia into this discussion.

On Ray Gillen: <<He is also on a Black Sabbath album that was never released since theyd= umped his vocals for Ian Gillan or someone like that. I guess it isavaila= ble in boot form.>>

I just saw that CD here in Brazil. It does NOT have Ian Gillan on vocals.= It=B4s not a boot, it=B4s just out of print in most places. Now, whereas the American shepherd can summon his flock with the resounding sharp "zip" of his trousers coming down, a poor Scotsman, who would be wearing a kilt, would not have this means to attract his herd. Therefore, they bred and trained sheepdogs to control the sheep for them so they could lounge about carving pornography into trees and practicing ventriloquism. Ever see a Scotsman rape a tree? same here, this is when it's really nice to work at a radio station - they got it as a promo and the chief announcer is such a sweetie that he reserved it for me to review for rotation :) trust me, i'll be playing this plenty. try and get DT some more recognition here in the land of jimmy buffet. peeking inside, it features what appears to be the latest step in the quest for individuality - yet another new kind of double-CD case (oh yaeh it's slimline for those of you who bitched/wondered way back when :) complete with hard-to-get-at 2nd CD and hinges weaker than the ones that hold the liner notes, thus promising 75% more of those catastrophic case-droppings you've grown to love.

and i think i get the idea of the cover art, that one dude had the right idea i think - the guy has an auditorium in his head, which was used to put on plays, hence the "dream theater" part. but i think there's also the fact that it's not like one of those theaters where they usually put on plays, but an auditorium, the kind of place a band might play "live". maybe, just maybe...

and the new font don't look that bad on the cover, IMO, cuz it's filled in and bevelled. the one i don't like is the outline one i've seen around.

as someone mentioned, the changes they do to the songs are quite cool (for those of us who haven't gotten to see them live i guess). overall a cool-ass CD.

    dream theater kicks ass. moo.

Hah, you know, it's funny, but I frequently have the same problem: I find myself staring at my collection of CDs undecided, thinking what I'd pick up to listen on my car.

When I get home, things get worse, because I simply can't go to sleep without first listening to some music (I often get asleep while listening to something on my Discman). When I get a new 2CD boot, I wonder: so, it's 11pm right now and I'd love to listen to the whole thing, but I'll have to wake up tomorrow very early...
