Try http://www.harmony-central.com/ and search for Fates Warning tab. Also, try
Kizer's page, http://www.ivorygate.com/fw and follow the tab button link.

This is a great point. I was thinking very much the same thing when preordering OIAL (I've got a promo copy, but you've gotta support OFB). I took a look at the tracklisting and knew exactly what I was going to hear, even before I got the promo. Everything on the album, including all "improvs," I've heard before (with the exception of the overdubbed sax on TAMP) on some tape or another. There are only two problems I've ever had with DT live. 1) James has too many "bad days" (which can range from a bit shaky to totally god-awful - he is still my favorite vocalist, however). 2) Although DT's music has more variety than anyone else I can think of (everything from more or less "classical" (Eve) to very crunchy heavy metal (Lie, etc)), their shows don't show the same variety. You can have every song they've played on this tour, complete with "improvs," if you pick the right three tapes. That's what's always attracted me to "jam" bands like Widespread Panic. You never see the same show twice.
I realize DT isn't a jam band, but they do have very dedicated fans and most will goto more than one show if there's more than one in their area (and many will travel to shows far outside their area) but seeing two shows in the same week is almost worthless because they will almost always follow the same general framework. You'll see some songs swapped in and out, but (lately at least) you're still going to see ACOS I/II -> JLMB to open and the Metrop/LTL/ACOS IV medely to close, with mostly the same stuff in between. I've noticed that alot of bands with "virtuoso" players also "suffer" (at least IMO) from this same static live show pattern. As a result (again, for me), even though DT are far better musicians than Widespread Panic and DT is easily my favorite band, I've been to 29 Panic shows and only 2 Dream Theater shows in the past two years. And none of the Panic shows have been even remotely the same. I also know that somewhere along the line I'm going to hear all of my favorite Panic songs live, regardless of how old or rare they are. I don't expect to ever see TOWHTSTS live, nor Afterlife or other cool stuff from the first album. I understand that songs like these don't have the recognition value that newer stuff does, but damn, with the dedicated fan base DT has I know the majority of the people would at least enjoy the stuff they haven't heard before, if not recognize it. It'd be a great change from the same old setlist.
Sorry for the long post, just been planning a trip from Atlanta to New Orleans for Panic's two Halloween shows there and then a third in Macon, Ga on Monday and it got me thinking... If it was DT I'd hit Macon and not bother with the New Orleans trip - I'd be paying $25 a pop to see the same show three times... Take care all!

He's apparently a HUGE Rush fan, yet says he got the apartment number solely by chance.

Hey gang, I don't know if this will make it to the jam, but in case it does...
Somebody wrote of Derek: "He left the list because a few children on here were real harsh to him and some absolute dickmunch thought it was cute to forge his email address and sned bullshit to the jam under his name. Did anyone ever find out who did that?"
The response was: "The "dickmunch" you speak of was MP. He fessed up to it just as the DT/ELP/DP tour ended. . . "
Back to me.... (MP): Well, actually the TRUTH is that some "dickmunch" (great word, BTW) was NOT me....actually, some guy tried to clear up the Derek imposter thread by posting as an imposter of ME!! and claimed (as me) that I was the one who posted as Derek which was untrue.
When I saw this, I absolutely FREAKED and wrote a REALLY nasty post to the jam threatening this "dickmunch" (and I used much harsher words!!) that if he ever posted again that I would be OUTTA HERE for good.... However, for reasons still unknown to me..my post never made it to the list. And luckily, this asshole never posted again with my email address.
I decided to let it slide as long as this guy did not post as a "Portnoy420" imposter again.....luckily, despite my unseen letter - he never did again....
So...here we are, with me contributing to the jam again!! : )
However, I have to clear up the fact that it was NOT me who was the Derek imposter... that still is an unsolved mystery....

Hi all
long time no write.
Industrial + prog = TOOL
Live CD: I saw it in the shop, listened to a couple of tracks and bought the new My Dying Bride album instead. The live stuff is OK, but I've got most of the stuff as studio versions anyway, and I'm afraid the few really interesting bits don't warrant me parting with my hard-earned dosh. Call me a boring old fart.

hi all
this one's directed at anybody else on the list who listens to both Tool and the Smashing Pumpkins. I was just listening to "Siamese Dream" for the first time in ages, and it struck me that you could be forgiven for thinking that the track "Silverfuck" was a track that didn't quite make it on to "Aenima". Play something like "Pushit" or "Aenima" and then "Silverfuck". The similarities are amazing, especially the driving drums/bass and the fuzzed out guitars. Then again, perhaps it's just me.

Hi all,
I live in Hamburg, Germany (as some of you know) and I have a good friend that is a big KISS fan. So I am looking for someone in America that can make good recordings of the following upcoming shows on FOX:
October 30 9pm (EST) Millennium October 31 11pm (EST) Mad TV October 31 midnight KISS live in concert
The best would be to have each thing on a separate video tape and of course in SP (no LP mode please!). Of course I will find some way of paying people back for the tapes and postage and such. Maybe the concert will be hard to tape since it might be over 2 hours. Do there exist 2+ hour tapes in the US now?
Anyway if someone could help me I would appreciate it. Thanks.
Jason

Yes, collections, "best ofs", "greatest hits" and live albums are all allowed. Anything you could order from cdnow or musicblvd.

Time's running out! We need your input! We haven't had a huge response so far, so every vote counts. The survey will run until Oct. 31, 1998.
To participate in the survey, send a list of your Top 20 all-time favorite recordings. These should be recordings that you would call "the best of genre" or "desert island collection". Real high quality stuff! Results will be posted on the ytsejam and on a DT website.
Send your list to: ytse_classics@yahoo.com
Example list (Artist - Title):
Ted Nugent - Double Live Gonzo Pink Floyd - The Wall Pearl Jam - Ten Tool - Undertow Journey - Infinity Jimi Hendrix - Are you experienced? Angra - Holy Land The Who - Who's Next? Whitesnake - Whitesnake White Zombie - La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol 1 Aerosmith - Toys in the Attic Peter Frampton - Frampton Comes Alive Boston - Boston Queensryche - Rage for Order Dream Theater - Images and Words Led Zeppelin - IV Dream Theater - Awake Symphony X - The Divine Wings of Tragedy Rush - Moving Pictures Steely Dan - Aja
Don't send your list to the ytsejam! Once again, send to: ytse_classics@yahoo.com
One list per person. Order of the list does not matter. Each recording will get one point. List each recording only once.
