Interesting - I've been to four DT shows, and each one had a fairly
different set list. I was quite pleased by the set lists actually. I
even saw two back to back with very different set lists.

Mayhaps I am just lucky.

But I wont mention that I saw Pink Floyd 4 times (the kings of
non-changing set lists.. well.. a little better than RUSH).. and the one
show I decided not to go to (since they werent changing their set lists)
was one that they completely revamped their set to include all of Dark
Side of the Moon.

I am still bitter about that!

BTW: Mike Portnoy - you have a memory so good it really scares me!!!!

I heard there was a review of OiAL on the jam a few weeks back.

Could anyone please let me know who wrote it and perhaps send me a copy of
that particular digest. If that is not possible, is there a url where
previous digests are kept?

Hey, jammerz!

Recently I was cleaning up my hard drive and realized that DT mp3's took up
about 800megs of the space, not too much though, but still this space might
be very useful, so I decided to make an audio CD with some of the songs I
have there - why audio? - A lot of my friends have been very willing to
hear this stuff, but were unable, because not all of them have PC's and not
all of those who have have he web-access... - so I decided to make this CD.
Needless to say that only a small part of the songs got to the CD, but
volumes 2 and 3 are to follow. For those who are interested, here's the
track-listing of the CD:
1. Your Majesty
2. A Vision
3. March of the Tyrant
4. Two Far
5. Cry for Freedom
6. Freeport Jam
7. Solar Groove (dan, this song is AWESOME!!!)
8. LSOAD (acoustic)
9. Cover my eyes
10. Hollow Years
11. Speak to me
12. TWIUTB
13. JLMB

of course you gather that all these songs are either life or some kind of a
demo.
I am now thinking of the conents for the next CD - have any suggestions?

Nuts...This is the kind of post I really hoped wouldn't respond to mine. Both Partha and I said VERY clearly (stressed, even) that we were going to buy OIAL. Check the first two lines of my post. My preorder has been in at CDNOW since the day they allowed them, even though I've got a free copy already. Several people on this list have promo copies and I can guarentee you that ALL of them will be buying the CD as well. I appreciate the "no names, no flames" (that's all too rare on this list), but I wish people would at least read the posts they're replying to before responding.

To clear up any more misconceptions... DT puts on a great, excellent, superb live show - that's not my problem. (Would I own 60 DT shows if I thought otherwise?) My problem is that they put on virtually the same great show every night, which really diminishes the power of it for those who see it multiple times. That's the bottom line - the Cliff's Notes version of my post... :) Take care all...

QR's new guitarist is named Kelly Gray (I think). And the guy asking about the Rocktron processor that will channel switch your amp: its the Replifex. Good product from what I've determined from in store tryouts. And to any and all who might care, Cheap Trick is going to be on Conan O'Brien this Friday night. I'll have to tape it since I'll actually be WATCHING Cheap Trick at Irving Plaza on Friday. And here's hoping I can score Type O tickets in Philly on Saturday... Fat chance... :(

Hey All, I got both today at a local music store that puts out its merchandise as soon as it gets it. I am listening to the disc right now and it kicks ass. Here are some initial impressions. I thought the disc really didn't take off until the jam in JLMB which was killer. The little Star Wars opening to Voices is hysterical, almost worth the price of the whole disc for that. The opening of LitS is awesome. Derek has quite a few different sounds. Derek's organ? is also more prevalent under the middle verse or whatever. Right now I am listening to Scarred, so I don't have an opinion on the whole thing yet. The video is awesome. I just watched the whole thing. It really highlights Derek's sense of humor. I was going to give the track listing, but now when I think about it half the fun was wondering what was going to come next. All I can say is that I can't wait to buy Stained Glass and that Speak to Me should have definitely been on Falling Into Infinity. It's an awesome song, and would have been a great replacement for Anna Lee. I am sure that the track list will be out there soon enough if not already and I don't want to ruin anyone's fun.

So DT, you guys are geniuses, and I don't say that to kiss ass, but to thank Mike or whomever else is on here. The video and disc have already brought joy to my life. Thanks. I can't wait for the XMas CD either.

Yah, I can see your points, but I think your points are only directed to a small portion of the jam. IMO, I'm wonderfully glad DT isn't a jam band. I have nothing against them, but listening to a bunch of virtuosos making things up on the spot isn't my thing. (I'm assuming that's what you mean by a jam band) And also, I'm glad to get a live album from DT, since I was one of the (probably many, many) DT fans that didn't get to see them live on the last tour (and have yet to see them live, to boot). So this live album (and vid) are something of a Godsend to me.

Anyway, very few of the bands I've ever seen live vary their setlists from what I read here or see on their websites. Hell, on the Queensryche Saints and Sinners" bootleg from San Jose, Geoff even says the exact same speel about dreams right before breaking into Silent Lucidity. I really don't think a band tours to cater to the small group of fans that follow them everywhere like sheep. The average DT fan will probably see them for one show per tour. We pooparazzijammers are probably the only ones that follow them around like that. We're psycho. :) So most people probably don't notice the setlists.

>When I saw this, I absolutely FREAKED and wrote a REALLY nasty post to the >jam threatening this "dickmunch" (and I used much harsher words!!) that if

(KorgX3 cheers as Mike Portnoy inadvertantly quotes him on the 'jam) :) I spoke of sheep earlier didn't I? Well, allow me to say "BLEAT!" BTW, Mike, did Derek ever give John M. back his woobie? I'm just curious.

Anyway, to the point of my post...

Thanks to the magic of Federal Express 2-day shipping, $50 discounts from CDNow, and inverted quantum physics theorems derived to a focal point breaching the singularity of time, etc... I got my official release of OiaL a day early. Can I say? ROK NADZ! or something to that extent. Any of you who skip over having this CD set in your collection are bastards (or will be one day, if applicable). :) This is great, superior production. Everyone who jizzed over the Jordan Rudess Take The Time version should feel guilty. I'm walking through the Halls of Vapor Action Relief listening to Derek's version right now.

Anyway, I've yapped too much. Take care folks! -- KorgX3 moo?
