First of all, are you talking about a bootleg or the album version of
"Voices?" If you're talking about the album version, then you must not
realize (yes, I'm American) that Derek wasn't with DT when they recorded
"Voices." If you're talking about a bootleg, please send me the URL...I'd
love to hear it :o)

Got OIAL yesterday via FedEx along with the new Fates and Myst Soundtrack
(Great ambient music BTW). I must say, its one of the best live albums I've
ever heard! I wish I could have seen them live. (Gotta pick up that video soon
|-).
Favorite parts:
- Derek's key solo leading up to Lines in the Sand and Lines in the Sand. They
did a great job on this song!
- Petrucci's guitar solo! I knew he was good, but I never new he could shred
anywhere close to Yngwie or Vai!
- Just Let Me Breathe - nothing in particular, this song just rocks live!
Did anyone hear the part where they clipped the mics or something. I cant
remember the exact place (its on the first disk). It was right after they came
in from a quieter part to something like Puppies on Acid. (That may not be the
right part but you know what I mean.) That was the only "strangeness" I heard
on the albums... If anyone knows what's up with this lemme know...

Yup... You can find all the information you need in UACM's
"Official Fanclubs" section. Remember that there are *six*
official fanclubs and members of *all* these fanclubs will
receive the 1998 Xmas CD... Not just members of the DTIFC!
If you would like to check out the websites of the "other"
fanclubs, click on the little "flags" on UACM's main page.
Sign up before it's too late... You won't be disappointed!

Hi folks...
I don't know if this was already brought to the Jam, but SUPERIOR's Younique
was released here in South America just a few days ago, but the coolest part
is, that it has the same 2 extra tracks as the Jap version, but it costs a
few bucks less (here is about Us$ 17) :-)
Sometimes we Brazilians feel a bit of envy of americans (cds releases,
shows, etc), but sometimes we can be proud of our land too !! (BTW Paul
Gilbert just did an incredible Clinic here in Sao Paulo a couple of weeks
ago, and he was one of the coolest artists I ever met !)

Sorry. I was talking about the OIAL version of Voices. It starts
somewhere around the 15 second mark. It only lasts about 10 seconds
though. I think it's played a bit slower than in the movie. BTW, I think
it's JP and not DS.

I feel your pain, dude ;-)
I preordered OIAL and 5YiaL as well as LiT and LATM (I had some cash to blow,
plus a $10 discount.) alrighty, yesterday I got the two vids (5YiaL ROOOOCKS!
Its an incredible vid, and the studio antics from the band are hilarious!) In an
e-mail from CDNow, it said that OiaL was shipped 1st class mail and should arrive
4-6 days, it was shipped on Oct. 26th. Also, LATM was shipped on the 23rd and
that has one day left before I wreck havok upon CDNow. And if I dont get OiaL
from them by Saturday I will be truly pissed. So if for any reason you try to log
on to CDNow on Sunday, and it says the server is down, its cause I blew up the
building ;-D
ANd to whoever said Phish is prog....hate to disagree with you, but they are
absolutely NOT PROG. There is nothing progressive about them, unless you
consider The Greatful Dead progressive. To me, they are boring. Their jams
are pathetic, simply because they go on for a half hour on the same chord/chord
progression while their audience gets stoned.

I couldn't agree more! I also live in a college town, we even have our own
Rock Society at Uni, AND we have FOUR stores here (All of which are totally
SHIT!), BUT they do have Images And Words on one of those listening posts,
but strangely it's by a band called Dream Theatre...... Never heard of
them, maybe they're good?
Chris Parnham....
P.S. OiaL would be impossible to find here, so I've taken the liberty of
ordering it from a store back home instead...

So OiaL has a worldwide release date of 27th October except the UK - where
we have to wait till the following monday - 2nd Nov. Even the major chains
(HMV, Virgin) seem to have little knowledge and even some of the largest
Virgin Megastores son't even have plans to stock the disk. I wish I
understood the buying plans of the large stores - its just so fucked up!
If I have to order a major release like this, then I might as well support
my small-time local record store than spend money with Virgin.

Well, I ordered it from CD Connection. It's on Road Runner, a
fairly big label, which also carries/carried Sepultura.
BTW, be warned that you may hate the vocals -- the electonic parts
sometimes get on my nerves. But I'm sure that Paul Dyer will reply to this
message, telling that Cynic is the best band ever, etc, etc, etc (ok,
after Opeth and Dream Theater, they may be). :-)
[]s, Roger...
P.S.: Oh, if you don't know, Cynic is a death metal band. If you have
restrictions about this genre of metal, you may consider spending your
hard-earned bucks on Renaissance's "Ashes Are Burning". What a damn cool
album is this one.

Actually I swear I hear Derek playing Xanadu at one point.. and the cheering crown might mean that they heard it as well!
Also, If you want to convert someone over to DT, play the bit from Peruvian skies through PMU. Ive gotten many favourable responces from that group of songs! Personally when I bought the album I was listening to it on the way home. And it felt like I was at a concert. I was 'head banging' to the music, getting excited with each awesome surprise. Man, to anyone who like DT, GET THIS ALBUM! It is as perfect as a bootleg as you are going to get! It captures the live feel of a DT shoow better than any album Ive ever heard.
OK.. enough raving. But it is one freaken good album which proves that DT is one of the best live acts EVER!

Man, same thing here. I went to Hasting's and asked the guy at the counter and he gave me a puzzled look when I asked him about it, too. Except his puzzled look was because several other people were in there yesterday asking for it. They DID have like 5 copies or so of OiaL so I was content with their ability as a music merchandise outlet. Of course, they had none of DT's studio albums so all I can say is "What THE?!?"
>Does someone know why this project was postponed?
Because Rena Petrucci keeps popping kids out left and right. So far I think DT has enough kids with close enough ages to start a Ytse-Little League Team. It's great, ain't it? :)
>Ah fuck it.. play the whole damned thing for them. I find it hard to >concieve of a person who wouldnt like it!
Already did it. :) I was at work today and at the end of Take The Time a guy I work with comes over to my desk... "You're listening to Freebird?!?!? Nah, this ain't Skynnard, who is this? That Dream Theater band you're always listening to? For some reason I really like Dream Theater now..." :) I played him some other stuff and he was really digging it. heheh.
