    Hi there jammers
The world is beautiful thanks to releases like this one. The band is excellent and
the setlist too, though I'd rather hear some more from WDADU. Well you can't have
everything. When is Rush triple live CD out?

The thing I want to point out is the sound clipping (sound failure?) in Voices and
some other parts of the 1st CD, when James hits the hi notes. I think someone else
noticed it. It's like the cable in James mic. to be loose or something, I don't know.
Anyone else noticed it. Do you think that we might have a problem like the one with
    LTE 1st European version?

    Mike P. any ideas?

    Be well and keep ytsejamming

    Hey Jammers,

Start calling your local radio stations and requesting Ytsejam & Lie from
OIAL. I mean bug the shit out of them until they air it at least once.
Then have you friends call! Fax them, too. This deserves to be heard.
    -------------------------------------------------------

Hollow Years (one normally skipped on FII) is great! Much better than
    the studio version.
    ----------------------------------------------------
Here is a copy of my letter to Mike & Derek:

Subject: It's a good time to Elecra-fy your label

What can I say that hasn't been said? With the right marketing OIAL
could surpass the success of Cheap Trick's "Live at Budokan."

Shove a cattle prod up the asses of KS and the Execs at EastWest.
The world is ready for another instrumental. Can you say Ytsejam?
I knew you could. Lie would be another good choice. If Cheap Trick
pulled off releasing previously recorded material, (And making it bigger than
the original) with a little help (support) from your label, DT could easily pull
this off. (given the same label support) The live Cheap Trick album is what
broke the ice for CT. I was 16 at the time, I remember it well.

You guys have a winner here, it would be a shame if it's never shared with
the masses. I will be calling a few local (St. Paul/Minneapolis) radio stations
requesting material off OIAL, I have assigned this same task to several friends.

    Derek,

What can I say? After watching the vid and listening to the CD,
you are the first to challenge Rick Wakeman for my personal favorite.
I've been a BIG Yes fan since 1973, and a Elton John fan since 1972.
Your technical abilities have ALWAYS been great, the emotion in your
playing has improved so dramatically that it's inevitable that your name will
be tossed around the ranks of keyboard players as a standard of comparison
    for decades. Kevin who?

    Mike,

I grew up around Yes & Rush, (just to name a few, but those were my favs)
It's the drumming that initially attracted my attention to DT. (I&W days)
The voice of KJL was also a big deciding factor for purchasing a DT CD.
You never cease to amaze me. I think the interlaced track arrangement between
the video and CD's was brilliant. Great job on the video, too!

Between you, Peart and Zonder, I will always have someone to boggle
my spoiled little mind. Thanks again.

PS: Please! For future shows, ditch the megaphone on JLMB. It blows.
Heard it live several times, and it sucked just as bad as it does in the video & CD.

    END of letter

Yep, I also have the "click" you mentioned on my copy.
It sounds like Mike P may have brushed against one of the drum mics.
    I may be wrong.

The Best Buy near me in Indianapolis always has plenty of Dream Theater. The have LTE, Explorer's Club, and TSO (last Christmas). I went there a couple weeks ago to pick up Awake, ACoS, and FiI for a friend and they had them all in stock.

Yeah, he's awesome! Dunno if you've been told this, but Mangini plays with Vai on the "G3 Live in Concert" album.

    ---

For those who don't know: G3 are Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson and Steve Vai with their bands. The Vai setup with Mike Keneally, Phil Bynoe and Mike M really KIX ASS!! (in lack of a more appropriate term :-) (So do the songs they play - "Answers", "For the love of God" and "The Attitude Song".)

A friend of mine recently made me a large Ytsejam vinyl sticker for my car. I thought it was so cool I thought, "Hey, why doesn't every DT fan have one?" So...

I'm selling Ytsejam stickers now. There are several different sizes and colors. The one on my car is white and a little bigger than a foot tall. Another big DT friend of mine has one on his truck. It's about five inches tall. It is made of a translucent type of vinyl that looks like etched glass.

Quick question for those of you who have it. There are a couple of "cracks" during Voices and another place (can't remember). Also, PMU sounds a bit too slow (I'm thinking this is because it is a live performance but I don't know). Are these things on everyone's or are they defects (I'd appreciate feedback so I can replace it if I need to).

The CD and video are just so AWESOME!

Somebody mentioned that Best Buy was the only store in their town to have 5YiaL. Yes the Best Buy here had it also, just not out on the shelf. When asked about it the employee said "oh yeah we have them but they are still in the box and not priced yet" sooooo when I got home from work and my husband told me about this I was hot! I was ready to kill and mame somebody at Best Buy if they wern't gonna give up the video. We went back later and they actually had one copy on the shelf. (they don't realize how lucky they are to escape the wrath of the BassBitch) On the other hand a store here called Media Play (it's run by Musicland) had 6 copies but were sold out by 5 p.m. at least I know there are other die-hard DT fans here in this suck-ass town!

On to set lists.......Korgy mentioned the FII set list and from my understanding his impression was that the list never changed however my expiriance was different. I was able to see DT 4 times on the FII tour and every show had a different set list. I think that a changing set list is a great thing even if I only got to see them once per tour. I feel that if they change thier set around it's more interesting for the band. We wouldn't want them to get bored would we? If that happened they might shorten their tours. My other point would be that if it always stayed the same the boot collectors of the world would have all the same music on every tape. bleck :P

I always wondered who made out the set list or if it was a group effort. things to make you go hmmmmmmmmmm.

These are all opinoins, Juli aka BassBitch

P.S. Whoever mentioned the Rolling Stone mag. poll. I say GREAT IDEA we could have a YTSE COUP. We can TAKE OVER THE WORLD!

As long as we're pointing out little inside references during songs in OIAL, I thought I'd mention the bits of the "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" theme that are played during "Trial of Tears" (and, I think, in another one or two places, tho I don't recall where at the moment). Star Wars and Close Encounters -- our boyz are space-obsessed. :)

No, it does not. The person I ordered my Japanese copy from said "Hey d00d, it doesn't have any bonus material like we were led to believe, so I cancelled the order. But if you still want it I can get one for you." in not so many words.

Your CD is fine. That "click" we hear is more than likely either JP or JM switching their pickups to the "on" position before the whole band enters on the heavy part of ACOS p.1. Sometimes you get a very distinguished "click" that resonates through the amplifier....especially if it's pushing high gain (which would make sense at that point of the song). At least, that's my best guess of what it is.

Hey Jammers...... I live in a college town in Kansas and I found both Oial and 5YiaL in town. OiaL in Hasting's and 5Yial in a local shop. But what's even better is the LOCAL shop had DT bootlegs for sale also...... go fig! So I've actually managed to pick up "InstruMental:the 1987 recordings", "Majestic Harmonies", and "Lido Beach Party" -- all very good bootlegs - IMHO. So being in a college town myself, I find it hard to believe that some people can't find the new "official" releases. I think it depends on what the store itself considers "Selling Material" and non-selling material when they order from their distributors. But I do feel the need to say that I was prepared to make a trip out of town for the "LIVEtime" experience........

    Just a thought POJ =o)
