Hey everyone,
The counting is starting on the Top 20 albums of all-time, but there's
still time for you to send in your lists. A lot of you regular posters
haven't sent your list in yet, so throw that list together and submit
it to:

While ordering OiaL from my local dealer, I mentioned the fact that the
disk didn't feature in the buying plans of the capitals largest stores
(Virgin, HMV etc). He told me that Warners were less than popular with
record stores up and down the country (though he didn't reveal why) and
intimated that the larger chains were deliberately not ordering their
disks - aside from the sure-fire winners. Guess this means that OiaL aint
gonna feature in the Nation's Rock chart in the near future.

Well, as most anyone who was at the Yahoo chat with Mike Portnoy knows,
it blew goats for the most part. A couple jammers asked intelligent
questions (i.e. Tempus and Dhiran), but most of the questions were
either stupid or easily found in the FAQ. Why not have a special
"jammer chat" with the band on our very own irc.dreamt.org? Most of us
have read the FAQ, so we can get right to the unanswered questions that
would give us a much better idea of DT. How about it, eh?

I just thought I'd let everyone know that I have a promo copy which did NOT come from CDNOW. I bought it at a Eugene, OR store called CD World. This is starting to seem like some kind of printing error in which the first run of discs was accidentally printed with the promo graphic. Of course, this doesn't explain the lack of the "2-CD" logo on the case...

We did that awhile back with Mike P and it seemed to work rather well. I thought more of these were expected to be planned, but none ever have. People asked fairly decent questions, but none of my highly intelligent ones like "What did you have for dinner last night?" never went through. :\ Think about it... The only way to play like Mike is to follow the same dietary regimen as he does, plain as that. :)
>off my $20 to get in the fan club and get all sorts of goodies but how much >postage do I need to put on it to send it overseas?
To me, your best bet would be to wander into your local post office to send it. They mark and label it with the exact postage needed to send it. Guessing on overseas shipping is not an option very often. :) I'm not sure but I think most overseas mail needs to be cleared with the USPS anyway. At least I've had to on some "parcels" I've sent in the past.......
>I would just like to say that the double CD case that came with my copy of
Weird.. To me, this 2CD case is the best I've seen yet. I don't have any problem getting to CD 2 at all, and it's not at all flimsy and hokey. I was actually going to post earlier in praise of it, but in stead lets start a flame war about it. :D

The idea is good IMHO. But it takes two or more for action. So...
Yeah right, OIAL sucks then according some jammers! Gee, I might not be sound expert but until know I heard only 2 live album that were REALLY bad! And even though I don't have OIAL still, I bet it's awesome and enjoyable! And don't give me that "freedom of speech" stuff 'cause I don't agree. Listen to Mr. Audet, kiddies.
Yes, I know, I tend to promote Mr. Craddick and Enchant to an excessive degree, but I just got a copy of Xen, and it really is a wonderful disc. I'm finding it as pleasant a surprise as I did Chromakey - just very refreshing. It reminds me that I listen to MUSIC, not just prog-metal. Imagine a lighter, funkier Enchant with even stronger vocal melodies, and you've got Xen.
It's a bad year to throw another offering into the fray, but Xen really is a worthy addition to my collection.

Yo, After listening to the CDs and watching the video (and of course seeing them live way back in May), I must say that Petrucci is FINALLY using a guitar sound live that rips, roars, and has enough power to kill small animals. Very similiar to the Awake sound. It's badassed, and I seriously HOPE that it appears again and again on DT releases.

I'm sure I'll agree. :) Paul is one of my favorite drummers and I've got high hopes for this one. From what I've heard of Chromakey I'm expecting the same. I'm still not sure why I haven't ordered that. :P Laziness I guess. :) Another good side project I recommend is Jason's "Houston, We Have a Problem" by Saigon Kick's Jason Bieler (guitarist/singer/writer). Now, for the last two albums, Jason has basically "been" SK, and this album is almost the lost SK album, but I tell ya, if you liked Saigon Kick at all, just pick this one up... (breath) Except the only place to find it (I think) is at http://www.bvbmusic.com/ . I think you can get ahold of SK's newest completely unreleased album from them.
And also, I guess Jason has another side project called "Super Trans-Atlantic" that's supposed to be a big winner. I haven't heard anything about it other than it's supposed to appeal to the current musical trends (in other words, it'll probably suck).
Anyway, what's wrong with me? I've been divulging viable information to the jam of late rather than my normal useless drivel...
Or maybe not... YOU make the call. :) -- KorgX3

Hell, at least it's better than the double-case for Fates Warning's "Still Life". When I opened that thing up, I had to believe I had already broken something. I open it up to get to CD #2 and it doesn't open, it FOLDS via a plastic "hinge". What the hell's up with that? The case for OIAL is a triumph of engineering in comparison.

me, my totally top notch, top of the heap list sorta petered out at around 14 or 15, so i had to throw in a few albums that i wouldn't toally need on my desert isle.....
i wonder how many other people have Michael Jackson and NWA on their list (no matter how much you hate the form, you have to give props to straigh outta compton for basically creating a genre) (i of course, didn't use the same logic to hype nirvana's "Nevermind", so i guess my praise is selective)
the other odd thing is that, searching thru my skull to figure out albums to fill the last few spots, i came up with this conclusion: according to me, The Book of Taliesyn is Deep Purple's best album......discuss amongst yourselves, while I get some sleep

Hello,
I'm searching for an acoustic version of the song "Sullivan" by Caroline Spine. I know it is on a CD called "Homegroan" put out by a station in Tulsa. I contacted the station, but the CD is no longer in print. Does anybody out there have this version? I am willing to send a tape to dub it off, and pay for postage.
This version is also on a special CD single sent out to radio stations. If anyone has that connection, I would sure appreciate it.
If you haven't heard the "Monsoon" CD from Caroline Spine, check it out. I highly recommend it.
Thanks.
