True, i think that his tone on FII is perfect...present..but not overpowering... i also love his sound on acos , then again acos is my favorite in terms of production...( so flame me i dont care :) heheh

You can find that bassline on a tV's greatest hits CD of some sort, I think. Besides, I always thought that bass line was a keyboard. it just sounds too ... fake ... to be a bass. Wonder what synth they used fotr that.

Oh, yes, you can say that. For starters, there are bands like LemurVoice, and Shadow Gallery who are very DT sounding. There is also a band called altura that sounds similar to DT. From there, you may want to investigate a DT influence, named Rush. Rush is one of DT's big influences. Let's see, who else? Try to find a CD from Superior as well. Maybe a band like symphony X will satisfy your craving as well, although i don't have any of their CDs. Hope this list is a good starter. I guess I didn't realize the three were competing against each other. I just thought the they were touring together.
AMAZING. . . I now have seen DT three times in one year instead of once every three years. (Actually I caught Awake twice).
Where in the hell was I during all of this? Barracade dead center. Lucked out again.
In my not so humble opinion, Palmer played tight but no way in no day is he going to give MP a run for his money, who, by the way looks great with his new hair. Take it from me, for I am a DT "chic". Did you notice how MP's hair has absolutely nothing to do with his ability as a drummer? (Just checking). Righto, Myung is fucking magnificent and so is Petrucci. The individual talent in the band is what makes DT, the band, so incredible.
I thought DT was absolutely superb. That would be appropriate since they are my favorite band and I don't subscribe to the peculiar Ytsejammer practice of cutting, slicing and dicing DT members and their music.
Every time I read an entire digest of posts, I walk away pissed and feeling as though I need to defend DT from their own fans. I just don't have the heart for this. Therefore, I must say goodbye to my newfound ytsefriends (critics). Take care and beware that one day you might wake up with no heros left in your worlds. Also, please do not forget the meaning of kindness.

They just had their first American show on August 29, 1998, in NYC. And according to reports, the show was spectacular. No comments were made about the band members' physical appearance, which doesn't matter anyway.

Were it biologically possible, I would bear Stu's childeren, so this is pretty much a must-have for me. Anyone?
I think this is on Schrapnel, which along with Magna Carta, makes Mike Varney THE MAN in my book. Bespite MC's screwing of Lemur Voice.

Had a bit of free time today, so I ripped out a couple of Soundscape MP3s (from their most recent album "Discovery"), and uploaded 'em to my Geoshitties account. To anyone interested in hearing said files, there's URLs below. As a word of warning, the files are large.
"Between The Sun & The Moon" (complete) -- a rather good poppy/upbeat number [~5.4MB] http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Amphitheatre/7375/soundscape01.mp3
"A Christmas Carol" (partial) -- first 4-5 minutes of the epic, showcases some great singing / keyboard work [~4.4MB] http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Amphitheatre/7375/soundscape02.mp3
Enjoy.

I replied in a jam about 5 or 6 back. Let me repeat. It from the movie Clockwork Orange. I dont know if it is the main theme or just an interpretation, but that is where its from.
This goes to everyone; if you ask a question, pay attention in the next few jams for the answer. If it doesnt show up for a week, ask again. But dont assume that noone answered the question because you didnt happen to read it.

I think I may still have Recon's "Behind Enemy Lines" on tape, so if anyone's interested, it's theirs (for shipping) since I don't listen to it anymore. not that it's bad or anything, but I hardly ever listen to tapes anymore anyway. And yeah, they are very much in the Ryche vein, with slightly chunkier guitars. Jimmy Brown (from Deliverance) plays rhythm and wrote one of their songs. When I first heard Whitecross' self-titled album a number of years ago, I could've swore Scott Wenzel's vocals sounded like the dude from Ratt :). It's not bad music, though I would go for more of their earlier stuff. If anyone digs the chunky guitar-driven industrial type stuff, check out Klank.
