If any of you haven't seen BASEketball (which I assume is most of you),
you really MUST go and see it. IMO, it's FAR funnier than Something about
Mary, Airplane, and all of those other slapstick movies. I was on the
floor just about every 5 seconds. Good example: the Tampax blimp with a
long string hanging from the back end. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!

    Yo,

Might as well jump on the movie thread, so here goes:

Faves (in no particular order): Spaceballs, Coming To America, The French Connection, Nightmare on Elm Street 4, Christine, The Shining, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, A Clockwork Orange, Radioactive Dreams(so sue me!), 2001, Seven, Strange Days, Wayne's World, Titanic, Gattaca, Karakter(Dutch/ Belgian movie), The Breakfast Club

Also liked: Red Corner, Six Days Seven Nights, The Couch Trip, Better Off Dead, Back to the Future(all of them), Say Anything

Now for something different: Does anyone have the lyrics to Magellan's "Critic's Carnival"? For some strange reason they're not in the cd booklet. I can figure out most of the stuff being said, but the first verse is a killer. Private email will do.

And last, but not least, to whoever posted this:

Hello! I am one of the lucky people who got their signed copy of Superior's new cd a few days before it's supposed to come out. Alright, here's what I think of the cd after about 3 listens. The cd is definitely different, as many have said. It does sound like the Superior from Behind in many of the songs, but many other influences have made the songs as well. Maybe it's just me, but parts of some songs remind me of Soundgarden, and parts of the song Free Minded sound like something from an Infectious Grooves' album. There's also a Swing part in a song, and the singer uses that voice distortioner thingie quite a bit. There's more slower parts throughout the songs, some songs have female backing vocals, and one of them has a horn section. The song Be Mine reminds me of Angra's Make Believe. Overall, the cd is very good, but it's different from Behind. It's getting better with every listen as well. Some songs are just beautiful, like This Promise. Alright, that's my opinion on YOUnique. Bye!

[OK.. this was originally going to be posted to just the Ytsejam Radio mailing list, but I figured I'd let the listeners as well as the DJs know what's up with me, so it's also going to Ytsejam list which I haven't posted to in eons. If you don't like YtseRadio, turn your head and cough or something]

Hey everyone. I don't know if anyone's noticed (or cared), but I've been slacking lately. I haven't been on IRC a lot to talk to my friends, but more importantly, I haven't been showing up for my YtseRadio shift. And I haven't touched the DJ schedule in ages. When I have done my shift, it's been on autopilot - I throw in 3 CDs, put the changer on random, and go do other things.

I just want everyone to know that this is going to change soon. I've made a lot of excuses to myself and to the YtseRadio listeners when I should've taken the blame myself for not doing the shifts or doing half-assed shifts. Although I have been busy lately, it's mostly been a lack of motivation due to a variety of things that I won't go into here.

Since I am one of the "founders" of YtseRadio, I think it makes the whole operation look bad if I don't bother showing up for my shift. I'd like to apologize for my improper behavior.. What I did was wrong... oh, sorry, that's the wrong speech. Seriously, to the 2 listeners I have, and also to people like Kez who really take their shift seriously and put a lot of time and effort into it, I am sorry. I feel like a charred boll weevil. Someone shoe me in the nuts.. Co-founder Tempus?

Now, I really want to make an effort and get back to the real Smeg Zone, with me talking and playing different shit, and actually personalizing the show (like dedicating a song to ryan when he got laid off, or playing Deedlit a song on her birthday), BUT - there's a problem.

My brother is going back to school and taking his P200 computer with him, which is the machine I've been broadcasting from. Now I'm stuck with a semi-relic bought in 1995 - a P100 with 16 megs of RAM. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to broadcast with this thing. I don't think it's powerful enough to run RealPublisher and Pirch smoothly.. or even just Publisher alone. My broadcasts may be unlistenable (not that they aren't already).

So, I'm going to try to broadcast with the old school machine before my next scheduled shift and see if it's listenable. If not, then unfortunately, it'll be The End of The Smeg Zone... For Now (I learned that from Mike Bahr).

BUT, it may not be the end for long. Since I've been raking in the dough from my job (OK, only $120.23 a week), I would have no problems buying more RAM for the P100, since it's so cheap nowadays. Techies in the audience, help me out.. would increasing the RAM help me broadcast if I still have such a slow processor? And if so, how much RAM should I get? If RealPublisher, by some miracle from Ged, runs smoothly on the machine, none of this will matter. I'll let you know.

OK, this message is way too long.. I feel like an egotist to devote this much space to my problems. I think I'll end it now (not my life, RipZero, the message). See yas.

when Al DiMeola came to Monterrey last year we were able to talk to some of the musicians and ask some questions to Al...

it seems that Mr Al DiMeola is a little bit grumpy from what i saw and from what the percussion guy told us....I think this guys was from puerto rico or something like that, he was latin so we were talking in spanish and I think Al didnt understodd a thing we were saying....he told us that he was the older member of the band...not older of age but of joining the band, cause the other people didnt stand Al as he does...he said he has some wild mood changes sometimes...

    Hi

here is a little review of Superior - Younique

To me Superior are the best German Prog metal band beside Vanden Plas. I love "Behind" and "Younique" is even better !!! The new album is different. It's very heavy and it sounds very modern. All songs are good. The piano parts are beautiful, the heavy riffs kick ass. "This Promis" is just incredible.

Overall it's a very good album. Check it out. The band have thanked us (the Ytsejam) on the booklet :-)

YOU CAN HEAR SAMPLES FROM ALL TRACKS AT: http://www.noiserecords.com

Btw, can someone tell me which Kansas album is the best to start with ? I've heard some songs from Kansas and they've sound really good. Thank you.

Just tryin' to make this straight!

The time when Mike sent songlists of the shows which will be used for the live CD, it was written:

    - Take The Time / Freebird - Peruvian Skies / Ented Sandman / Have a Cigar

while on the songlist of the now finished live album is written only:

    - Take The Time - Peruvian Skies

But seeing the order it's obviuos that they put whole parts from the shows, so I guess on the upcoming live CDs, Freebird, Enter Sandman and Have a Cigar are included as outros, right?

It'll be a pitty if that's not the case!

P.S. Is it finally known if Metropolis part II will be included on the new studio album????

And about the guy who proposed making a DT B-sides album, I give my vote too! :)
