Their new CD comes out in about 2 weeks (Sept 22nd)... same day as the new
    Apocalyptica CD... woohoo!!!

Anyway, the Galactic Cowboys' "At the End of the Day" is awesome, IMO.
some of the best stuff they've put out. really chunky, and the harmonies
have been upped a notch since their latest metal blade CDs...

I have a link on my website that you can pre-order the CD, and also I have
added 16 soundfiles (one for each song) to my page as well.

    enjoy!!!

Just now I remembered an interesting event.

I was at my friend's home, a fellow college and guitar player.
That day I bought "Live at the Marquee" CD and went to him to play it
for him. I was the one who introduced him to DT and at that time he was
already a big DT fan; he had the I&W CD. So, we played the CD listened
    and suddenly he said:

"Huh, let's see how good these guys are! Take the Marquee CD and see the
    time length of Metropolis!"
I realized that he wanted to compare the length here and on the album
version to see if live they are keeping the same timing. Ya all know the
    complexity of Metropolis, right? :)

"OK", I said and while going to the shelf for the CD started to
calculate and worry. :) Why? Because live gig is a tricky thing and,
while he liked DT quite a bit, I knew if the comparation shows huge time
difference he could still say "Na, they not that special. In studio it's
easy to keep up the time and have 100 chances for repeating until done
right..." And I didn't want him to speak like that about MY band. ;-)

I took the CD and saw: Metropolis part I - 9:36

Than we took his I&W CD and searched for the Metropolis title. Slowly
turned our heads on the right to see the time length. I started to
    sweat. :)

He went "Whooooooow! Jesus Christ, they're crazy!!!!"

What we saw was: the magic itself 9:30 !!!!!!!

    :-))))))))))))

hi everybody. I just read the Jam and you were discussing about
movies. Here are my favorites (no specific order)
     Dead poets society
Back to the Future 1 and 3
A Brazilian movie called "Central do Brasil"

About the people that talked about 2001... gee, it is really boring,
    but it has great ideas.

About Crossroads, the classical piece plyed in the end of the movie is
    Paganini`s Capricho 5, isn`t it??

    | Does anyone know a band called Tribal Tech?
    | How do they sound like? Are they any good?
    |
    | Karol!

Tribal Tech are a modern jazz fusion band; consisting of Scott Henderson
    /Guitars, Gary Willis/Bass, Kirk Covington/Drums, and Scott
Kinsey/Keyboards. Their music is extremely technically demanding, and
although it's really unique, sort of sounds sort of like Holdsworth
meets Weather Report meets Zappa meets Hendrix meets B.B. King. It's
not for everyone - certainly not a jingly, radio-friendly sound - but if
you have the patience to look beneath the surface, you'll discover a
wealth of musicality. All the musicians are monsters in their own
right, but for me as a bassist, Gary Willis in particular makes this
band... he is, imo, the best of the post-jaco fusion bassists (and my
personal favorite bassist, bar none), taking all that was good about
jaco's innovation and bringing it forward, rather than simply ripping
off his licks. All bassists should hear him...

I saw the Winter Rose CD (LaBrie's old band) in a store and thought there
might be someone here who can't get it as easily. Please email me if you
want it and I'll buy it then -- the total cost would be $18 (which includes
    shipping within the US).

BTW - is there anyone at all who has been to one of Iron Maiden's shows
on their current European tour? Please email me if you have...

Music Blvd is offering two free jazz cd's that were mentioned here --
DiMeola's Elegant Gypsy and Mahavishnu Orchestra's Birds Of Fire. Which one
would be a better purchase for a jazz newbie?

    Thanks,

Hey, guess what, guys, I just got a job. I'll be working for none other
than the WWF, starting next monday, doing television graphics. Since
this is, in some funky, funky way, being useful to society, I guess I
was wrong about all that freaked-out rambling I did when I graduated.

In other news, I just got my Empy Tremor apoca-whatever free ytse-tape
in the mail! I wonder if I was the last one on the list... anyway, it
sounds great. I might buy the CD, in about 2003, when I have sold all
    these shirts.

Movies, in no particular order: the Hudsucker Proxy, Fargo, Raising
Arizona, Grosse Pointe Blank, Shortcuts, The Player, Seven, 12 Monkeys,
Die Hard, Before Sunrise, V and V The Final Battle, The
Untouchables(that train station scene!), Clerks, Chasing Amy, Party
Girl, Falling Down, Fallen, Reservoir Dogs, Army of Darkness(evil dead
III) Pulp Fiction, Kuffs, The American President, Dead Poets Society,

How about some least favorites? I'll start: Babe, Pinnochio(both are
evil movies that fuck with kids' heads), Priscilla Queen of the Desert,
Toys(with Robin Williams? remember? no? good!), and of course, Rocky V:
The Final Insult. Also, I don't care much for naked gun stuff, though of
course airplane is a mandatory favorite.

Hi, everyone. Has anybody noticed that Japanese CDs sound better than american and german CDs? I have both japanese (with the baby CDs) and US versions of Awake and FII and I no longer use the american ones. I have also both japanese, american german versions of CDs of other bands, and the japanese still sound better. Can anybody give a technical explanation for this difference?

well, I finally wrote something and got a lot of replies, isnt it great? the weird thing is my topic was non musical....I was talking about some movies I rented and asked for some recommendations, I didnt think I would get even a reply....it's a miracle....well, since I didnt say what movies Ive liked here they are: (it has no order)

Dead Poets Society Contact Never Ending Story 1 (I saw the second one and was pure crap, I dont even imagine why there's 3) Back to the Future 1, 2 and 3 Indiana Jones (the 3 of them) Pump Up the Volume the movie from the metallica video (one)...I dont know the name of it but it's a war movie about a soldier that looses his arms and legs.... I like the Lethal Weapon movies too....they have action and comedy.... Braveheart Seven uhm....have you heard about the movie "tesis" is from spain, I guess it wasnt played at the US but it was a thriller very well done about those movies were people are really killed.... Stealing Beauty uhm...I have lots more but I better stop now this is a music based mailing list....

    > About Crossroads, the classical piece plyed in the end of the movie is >Paganini`s Capricho 5, isn`t it?? > > Gabriel >

yes, it is paganini's caprice....Im not sure about the number though....but it has some variations...

they also play mozart's turkish rondo with a blues feel, it sounds pretty good. --- MP3 of the week - "Coyote Face (LIVE)" By Z http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/2025/
