Not true at all. The black discs are like that becuase then they look like
playstation disks. The color has nothing to do with the copy protection.
When a playstation disc is burned they actually burn bad blocks into the
disc, which can only be done with the really expensive mass burners they
have. When a playstation boots up one of the first thing it does is check
to see if those bad blocks are there on your disc. As mentioned before a
Mod chip basically prevents it from checking to see if those bad blocks are
there.
Just wanted to clear that up :)

Is Peter Jackson directing it like he has been rumoured to be doing for the last two years??? Coz I read an article in an New Zealand paper that said he was casting......and that Sean Bean is suposed to play Strider (however I think that Micheal Wincott- is that his name? from the Crow and the dors - would be perfect for the part) and Sean Connery to be Gandalf....these are just rumours though......
Also if the LOTR soundtrack is gonna have anybodey on it it has gotta have BLIND GUARDIAN!!!!! : )

Just wanted to pass along some Paul Gilbert info. He's working in the studio on a new CD called 'Flying Dog.' Paul's Band include Bruce Bouillet (guitars), Tony Spinner (guitars/harmony vocals), Mike Szuter (bass/harmony vocals), and Johnny Fedevich (drums). Release date is supposed to be around Christmas.
The movie thread is really helpful! I'm Way Way behind. :) I'll keep all this info and start renting eventually.

I don't personally think prog is exactly what the doctor ordered for a soundtrack like this IMHO. I hear more along the lines of dark brooding orchestral stuff. Dark and sad music for a dark and sad story. I think it would be interesting if they use the music Tolkien wrote for some of the different races in the film as well.
