    I'm reposting this to get more responses and ideas;
Can anyone on this list suggest some groups similar to DT but
heavier? Kind of like the songs 'the mirror', 'lies' 'erotomania' ,
'pmu' and the begining of 'uagm'. I like all of the heavy stuff but
would like to open up to other similar bands to broaden my own guitar
    playing.

    Thanks a bunch!

well, for my .02 on this, i have used 3 different machines in my entire
recordage history, I started with a tascam porta 02. Bleech, what a
peice of garbage. The band I used to be in used a Yamaha MT8X which I
liked even though I only got onto it for about five minutes. I
personally own a Yamaha MT4X which I feel is the god of tape based four
track machines. This sucker sells for about 399-419 new and is chock
loaded with many essential features. To start off, there are 4 Mic/Line
inputs(which is nice when recording band practices). On each channel
there is a High, Mid, and Low Eq. Along with 2 Effects sends and Stereo
returns. This sucker also has Dbx Noise reduction and Variable pitch
control, four track simultanous record, 2 location memory feature plus
RTZ, auto punch, and rehearsal. Along with all that there are 4 tape
outs to run the signal to another mixer and separate controls for
moniter outs. For what you pay and what you get on this machine you
can't go wrong because it is also VERY simple to use, which helps big
time. Feel free to email me for a sound sample of something recorded on
both the MT4x and the MT8x my email is Drumguy@uscom.com.

OK, guys, I have finally read the news on the official site about the 5
year long video and CD, and I must say that I love DT to death for this
early christmas present. And since I am employed, i am going to buy it
all, yes even the video. I know I can't see it, but I can hear it, can't
I? anyway, I keep asking this question, and not getting an answer. I want
to sign up for the fan club, but I would only be able to really have fun
with the fan club CD. Is there anything I can do about this? Can I pay a
reduced club price to get the CD only? Can anybody send me contact info
for the guy who runs the whole show?

I have some questions about the Once in A Livetime. Perhaps whoever said he has an advance copy can answer them. If you don't want to spoil the surprise of the album for everyone, please email me privately. 1. Are all the songs taken from the Paris show? 2. Is it the Fasten Your Seatbelts version of the YtseJam? 3. Do they play Caught in a Web or Caught in Alice's Nine Inch Tool Garden? 4. Does Peruvian Skies include the snippets of Have a Cigar and Enter Sandman? 5. Do they actually play all of Metropolis Pt. 1 and Learning to Live or do they shorten them significantly into a medley? 6. What are the track breakdowns and times? I apologize if these questions have already been answered, but I just got back on the Jam recently. Thanks, Mark

Why don=B4t you try the two CD box set. It contains a well variety of material from Kansas. (One thing I know is that the albums with Steve Morse aren't the best)

Yesterday I got House of Spirits "Turn Of The Tide". Wow! it is a very good album! Does someone knows what happened to this band?

Hummm... Get an album whose cover is kind of white, with a picture of a broken statue of the mythological goddess Themis (the Greek goddess of Justice), by a band called Metallica.

Pay attention to the first song of that album. If you need anything heavier, please let me know. :-)

I would definately consider getting a tascam (just my choice), I find it easier to use than fostex. If you really want a good portable 4 track, consider the porta 07 by Tascam. It's easy to use and has some good features like start/stop with a pedal, effect input and output, RCA jacks for recording and monitors. You also ping pong tracks to get even more tracks out of it, but if you do it wrong you'll endanger all the other tracks so I try not to ping pong. Evrything you need to know is in the owners manual, and it's written fairly well and easy to understand.

Overall, I think it has got good reviews, but from what I've seen, it = seems like many of the reviewers like it "just because" they are masters = on their instruments, and don't mind showing it.

I've seen ratings from 5/10 to 11/10 - from adequate to masterpiece. I = would give it 7 (=3D good). For it is very fun to listen to, but I've = heard better songs... 'Paradigm Shift', though, is one of the coolest = songs I've heard for quite some time! :-)
