Now it's public I can mention that he told me in confidence (so I didn't write
it in an interview I was doing for the British mag Guitarist), while he was
still touring with Alice Cooper at the end of May, that he was up for the job

If I understand correctly, Stanley Kubrick, the film's director,
owns the rights to the film in the UK and has not allowed it to be shown
after a few "copycat" incidents occured in the seventies (in other words,
deranged people committed acts exactly like the characters in the film
did).

Jammers
I have the promo CD of Platypus. I think it already has a release here in
Europe but is very hard to get hold of in the UK. Dunno about USA release
dates.
Ty Tabor also has a solo album out/coming out called Moonflower Lane. I just
received it from Insideout yesterday. I am doing an interview with him for
Guitarist magazine (UK).
If you want more info on Ty Tabor and Platypus, e-mail Insideout in Germany
on:
LTE is also VERY difficult to find in the UK. There is an internet address on
the CD but no e-mail. The url is:

Make sure you're using a real FTP program and not your browser. Browsers
are notoriously pittiful for downloads and a real FTP is far more stable...

those two cds are better (imo) Perfect Symmetry has KevMo on keys.

So, what you're saying then is that the only people on this list that
matter are the ones lucky enough to have been on for years??? Doesn't
seem quite fair to me. In fact, it's total bullshit as far as I'm
concerned. At least half of what you mentioned there is DT or prog
related, which is better than half the stuff on here. How about this,
STOP FUCKING COMPLAINING AND STOP TRYING TO CONTROL PEOPLE. You don't
like the topic, then don't read it, other people, myself included, like
being able to talk about anything dealing with DT, no matter how stupid,
tired, or inane, just because this is the only place we're able to do
it, since most people's idea of music is "It's good only if I can dance
to it,", or "Hey, these guys in Top 40 are great!!!", speaking of the
latest 3-chord wonder, whomever it may be. So, in honor of your top 10
list of not to be discussed topics, I'll answer each of those, and
probably start a big flaming war against me, but then, I don't care...:)
Ok, for all the newbies, here's a list of 10 topics that are no longer
discussed, since we have beat them into the ground:
1. Who is better: Kevin Moore or Derek Sherinian?
Neither, But I prefer Derek, I like the sounds he uses better, and I
also like his chord voicings better.
2. Who should replace John Petrucci if he were to die in a bizarre
gardening accident: Steve Vai, Steve Morse or Yngwie Malmsteen?
If Petrucci dies, DT dies, but of those 3, I personally listen to Vai
more, this is the type of question that really should be "Who is your
favorite guitarist?"
3. Mike Bahr: Why does he have time to read the jam but doesn't answer
my e-mail? Or the ever popular "where are my boots"?
I've never dealt with Mike, and don't plan to...:)
4. Which members of DT use drugs and what are their favorites? Related
topics: Did Kevin get medical marijuana in California for his
testicular cancer? Did KJLB really have hash with his eggs in
Amsterdam?
I have my own guesses on this, but I that's a topic I don't personally
like talking about, but hell, go right on ahead and do it...
5. Who's better: The Backstreet Boys or N' Synch?
I Hate all that shit....Some people like it, and that's their
problem..:)
6. Whose religion is best, mine or yours?
I have no religion, so I guess yours is...:)
7. Who sold out and how much did it cost?
Many popular groups sell out, stadiums that is. I believe the Pink
Floyd show here cost $50 apiece, and it was a sell out.
8. Why new Rush sucks and old Rush rules. Or vice-versa. This argument
has many parts, including the Metallica, Queensryche and DT segments.
I like all Rush, all DT, Pre-Load Metallica, and I Love all Queensryche,
though pre-HitNF was better IMO, hopefully the new one will be better..
9. Is Derek a hootenanny? Side topic - Did Derek sleep with your woman
or your brother?
I Don't care, hell, it's great that he's able to get laid so much, I
wish I had that percentage...:)
10. Vegatarians vs. meat eaters: Hamburger or Ham Murder?
I eat meat, others eat no meat, so what??? I don't do the killing, so
leave me alone.
Well, My first post in a month or so goes like that, But that really
gets me fired up...I'm sure why Clinton should be impeached, and why rap
sucks will also be on that list in a while too...

I don't post much, but I just downloaded this and I have to say... WOW! I think this definitely falls into the "HOLY FUCKING SHIT" category! I think this performance makes the Kevin vs. Derek wars obsolete. They both SUCK compared to Jordan! :) Seriously though, I'd love to hear the rest of this show. I don't know if they played it, but I'd love to hear Mr. Rudess's interpretation of Learning To Live.
Any chance MP3's could be made of the entire show? (That would be pretty awesome for those of us who are lucky bastards with cable modems and big HD's... :) ) Or at least if Ryan Whitaker could get his hands on it.
> Don't you think Fates Warning's "A Pleasant Shade of Gray" is WAY > overestimated?
Yeah. The other FW albums I own (Parallels, Perfect Symmetry, Inside Out) are all much better than APSOG. But I pretty much don't listen to FW at all anymore.

Well I wasn't a fan in the old days, but the album photography for both No Exit and Night on Broken both show Jim playing a white Gibson Explorer. The NE photos also have Frank Aresti on a Jackson Flying V guitar, so I would imagine the elder Fates was doing something similar, equipment wise, to what M*tallica was doing at the time, i.e. Explorer and Flying V guitars through probably Marshall amps and what was it, MXR Distortion Plus? Anybody else know for sure? I can really only speculate. Nowadays, Jim plays his PRS (custom Artist III, I believe) through a Mesa Mark III with Marshall cabs and some sort of Rocktron Reverb/Delay unit for that incredibly warm tone.

To All:
OK now, what is the problem? We all have nerves ya know? And there's a limit until you CAN go!
Why are you all here? Yeah, that's right, WHY you are here? Surfed the net and oh, look a here, a mailing list? OK, let's subscribe and see what happens! Is that it? Do you actually know DT and appretiate what they're doing? Now don't tell me you know the DT songs better than me, and that you can play Derek solos in your sleep. 'Cause even if you do, it DOESN'T give you any right to say those things. Who are you by the way? Some awesome keyboard player who never got out of the house? Or a genius capable to pinpoint on other people's short comings? If you have ANY respect to DT? Instead of being thankful that in this garbage music world where youngsters freak out on Spice Girls we have chance to listen bands like DT, you spit all over them. And you think you're SOOO COOL!
As Derek once said, "It's alway painful seing a fave band member leave". So what? We'll cry and bang the floor? I liked Kevin, I think he's awesome, genius, perfect, bla, bla. I LOVE him. But he left, and it was HIS choice. He is not complaining, so why YOU are?
You know what? I will be SOOOO glad if Dream Theater split!!! Yeah, that's right, split and then I hope I won't have the read this kinda stupid things. Maybe then you will realise that actually it's beter having them out there instead of going mad in front of MTV! You might have right to complain if DT starts drifting in pop/techno waters 'cause than it'll be big enough change to talk about.
It doesn't matter if the thread was on the jam 1 or 10 times. Because, It is a STUPID topic. It's just that the older jammers realised it the hard way? Who is who, who is better, who's haircut is nicer, what kinda boots they wear etc.
Being a DT fan (which I sincerely hope you are), how can you say those things? I know that if I'm DT memebr and read this I will be hurted internally. Or maybe hurting peole is your hobbie?
What stupid idea was that refering to Derek publically on the jam and saying those filthy words to him? WHO gave you right to speak like that to him? Oh yeah, you're "invisible" right? We can't see you! So go ahead and spit on all right?
When will people learn that COMPARING MUSICIANS is the most stupid thing!
If you don't like this, don't try to reply 'cause I won't reply anymore this garbage topic!
Listen and enjoy, if not, who cares, get off the list since Derek is still a DT member, no matter if you like it or not!
Best wishes, Bye,
Dushko
