Holy motherfucking shit. I just downloaded that mp3 of Take the Time and I
want more. I have to have more. I will probably kill myself if I don't get
more, damn you bastards. Why did you have to let me hear that? I am
scarred for life now. I can never listen to DT the same way again. Why, oh
why, did you let him leave? That was the most awesome thing I have ever
heard? Who ever had that to encode into mp3, if you don't email me
immediately and tell me where I can get more of that, I will find you and
flog you repeatedly until you beg me to stop. Son of a bitch. I hate you
bastards now. I haven't been that orgasmic about anything since I heard
the Rudess Morganstein CD, and not before that when I heard DT for the
first time. You all suck. Where do you find this shit? Mike Portnoy, what
drugs were you on when you let him go? My God, I think my head is going to
explode and my brain fragments will wallpaper my room. I can't stand it
anymore. I am going to sell my keyboards and live a life of total musical
abstinance. Fuck you all, damn it. I need to have more. I am on my knees,
begging for more. God, this sucks.

Well, I thought....
>I find it hard to believe >that anyone (anyone who actually thinks about it for a second, that is) can >find buying boots from anyone other than the artist ethical.
I don't know how prolific(sp) boots are for other genre's of music (I was first introduced to them through DT). However, espcially DT fans, they are not going to buy a bootleg cause they don't want to buy the official release... Personally, I've bought every single DT "thing" there... singles, imports, you name it... but I also buy the bootlegs because it gives a prospective of the band that you normally can't get through official releases... Especially with DT's record label, they're restricted on how much "live" material they can release... I was sooo stoked when "Once in a LIVEtime" was confirmed. But just because I have a boot of virtually the same show, does NOT mean I wont get this new CD...
Thats case 1. Case 2 is regarding live performances. EVERY opertunity we get to go to a DT concert we take advantage of... Hell, the stories I've read about people driving thousands of miles for a DT concert shows that. There is something very special about live performaces, that bootlegs come close to, but not all the way... If I buy a boot of a tour, I'm not going to say, "well, I have the boot, I know the setlist, I wont go to the concert" That logic is insane.
Boots are there because the artists usually can't release everything on a label because A) the label wont do it, or B) because there is usually only a few out there like Ytsejammers, and the cost of production out wieghs the revenue.
I don't know... that's just my opinion.

Yeah, you got one. In fact, it should have been about the second or third e-mail you ever received from ax.com. The same e-mail that tells you where the FAQ is, how to unsubscribe, and all that kind of stuff. If you deleted it... well, then you're probably bound to piss someone off at some point. If not, go back and re-read it. We would all appreciate it. -d

Well, if you're just surfing on the web, with nothing better to do, you might want to go to CD Now and search for Opeth in their engine. Then, after you've browsed all the albums, use their "Music Advisor" and see what it recommends. Some of the recommendations are very, how can I say, meaningless, but others are very cool, to say the least. :-)

Ok,
here is my plan. I don't know if this has been discussed before, but what the hell. Ok, many of us know that hell whole of a channel called eMpTyV, right? Ok they have this thing called "total request," so I thinks we should request request request... I know it's not the best idea, but hell it should be fun and we'd be doing a good deed, yep Pissin off them MTV guys (what else did you think). So if you'd like to chip in with this good cause feel free to stop by www.mtv.com/mtv/tubescan/totalrequest/request.tin and request request request your favorite DT video. Here's to trying!!!
Best regards,

I disagree with this opinion. We need to regulate people, not the hardware used to to carry out the desired crime. The "assault" weapons you mention are responsible for less than .1 percent of all violent crimes committed in the US. Rifles are a little hard to conceal therefore not often chosen to commit crimes.
A gun is nothing more than a labor saving device, as is a chainsaw. Both (in the wrong hands) can be very dangerous, but used properly can be beneficial. Firearms have not changed much over the last 50 years, people have. If people wish to kill each other, they will with or without firearms.
We need to deal with the behavioral issues, not simply blame the chosen "tools" of the trade. The automobile is responsible for more deaths than all other "hardware" related deaths combined, shall we ban that? Auto accidents are just that, accidents. Raising children capable of committing such crimes is also an accident, one that's more preventable.

My Fellow Warriors,
I recently stumbled accross something which I have been looking for on and off for about a year now. The ultimate guitar chord poster at http://www.visualgallery.com/roedy/guitar_map.html. It looks absolutely brilliant but I live in Ireland and the website doesn't appear to cater for non US residents. Does anyone know pf any other shops which would ship this poster (or a simliar one) outside the US?
Thanks,
Rob.

hi all, thanks for the lynch recommends and to the guy who didn't like lynch mob: listen to the solos only then. Scott, I am sorry that I didn't answer any more. During my move to US I lost your e-mail address. BE EXCELLENT TO EACH OTHER. I was in NYC yesterday and bought some nice cd's Vernon reid, tyketto, poison, lynch mob's 2nd, massive attack but the thing I was looking for at rev rec, DT boots, was not there anymore. So I apologize for my recommendation 3 months ago. They had Satriani promo singles though. Last Thursday was a 80's pop metal hair special on MTV and they mentioned Bret Micheals upcoming movie w/soundtrack, but didn't mention a reunion(as assumed on the webpage) at all. Boy, this CC deville looked like he was 40. see ya then, I just can't think of anything to piss someone of... schnipp

[talking about TAMP]
I&W: Also, the general style and feel of the finished song changed quite drastically from the demo version, and live sound. Personally, I prefer the original.
JP: You do? It's just a different interpretation. I wasn't exactly sure how I heard it, but I knew that I wanted it to be different. I thought it was kinda typical just the way we had it, like too over dramatic. So I was trying to get away from that.

Ah, MTV. The BEST television channel in the world. Where else would the fashion designers of the world converge to ensure that what they want becomes the fad? What other channel provides such excellent educational shows like Sex in the 90's parts 1 through 10? Who else could turn a dime-a-dozen prostitute into a fashion model over and over again?
I dunno if you've noticed, but MTV absolutely doesn't care about Dream Theater. I really doubt there's any way in hell they'll even play them unless someone pulled an Airheads at their studio. Even then, you'd have to get passed the armed guards, advanced security system, and RuPaul. I think that place is tighter than Gwen Stef... well, tighter than Madon... well... it's tight.
So if you want to see DT on TV, I think about the only thing you can do is either wait, or just watch your Live in Tokyo video, cuz those buttmongers at MTV are only interested in ratings, not good music.
And with that rant over, I bid thee fond adieu... -- KorgX3 just woke up and looks a bit addled.

Hey.
The Simpsons make their bread and butter on social and pop culture satire. DT is not popular. It'll never happen.
Then again, the Ramones were on once: "Up yours Springfield! (I think they really liked us)."
Burns: "Have The Rolling Stones killed." Smithers: "But Mr Burns..." Burnds: "Do as I say!"
