Thanks! I guess it's not available in standard shops. "Ligh without

    thought, might be wrong!

Well, not to get crazy, but I thought (and according to the all-holy FAQ)
that Rudess left to tour with the Dixie Dregs. He wasn't "kicked out" or
"let go". He left. However, I don't know if he'd since asked to join and
refused, or what. Take that for what it's worth.

    That thing IS absolutely mindblowing!

I do have one Question about the famous/infamous Jordan's TTT MP3.
How come the keyboards are so prominent in the mix? I'm not
complaining, but I was listening and thinking "WTF?! I can actually
hear the keys better than JP!" What's up with that?

What does it mean when a guitar player is drooling out both sides of his mouth? The stage is level.

How many guitar players does it take to change a light bulb? Twelve. One to change the bulb and eleven to say they could do it better.

How do you get a guitar player to play softer? Give him some sheet music.

What do a vacuum cleaner and an electric guitar have in common. Both suck when you plug them in.

How do you make a bass player turn down the volume? Put a chart in front of him.

How many lead guitarists does it take to change a light bulb? None--they just steal somebody else's light.

What do you call two guitarists playing in unison? Counterpoint.

What did the guitarist do when his teacher told him to turn his amplifier on? He caressed it softly and told it that he loved it.

What's the best thing to play on a guitar? Solitaire.

How many bass players does it take to change a lightbulb? 1.None. They let the keyboard player do it with his left hand. 2.Don't bother. Just leave it out--no one will notice. 3.One, but the guitarist has to show him first. 4.Six: one to change it, and the other five to fight off the lead guitarists who are hogging the light.

In the 22th century, how many guitar players will you need to replace a light source? Five. One to actually do it, and four to reminisce about how much better the old tubes were.

Did you hear about the electric bass player who was so bad that even the lead singer noticed? d

    Just a few lack-of-sleep thoughts:

Order of Songs: I hope they keep the same order-of-songs-on-the-disc arrangement that they used originally. I like the (overall) way they had a kick-ass 5-7 minute song, followed by a short "experimental" piece, then another 5-7 minute stream of whoop-ass.

Son of Three-Minute Warning: The apparently had a lot of fun doing this. I would like to see another foray into jamming. Although I'm not entirely convinced that they must level us with another near-30-minute four-way stream of consciousness. Maybe two or three shorter pieces? Follow-the-leader perhaps, let Tony whip up something funk-filled and tasty and everyone joins in. Or maybe Jordan lays a theme on them and everyone improv-interprets (including MP!). Just don't take up thirty minutes on the disc with improv for the sake of doing it!

The Tour: What would be a great name for the tour? I see awesome pink-n-green tie-dyed shirts (or maybe I hit my head). Jamming and Improv? You bet! Once or twice a night. Allow taping? Hell Yes! Advertise that taping's allowed! With all this great improv, trading tapes with people from other cities would be fantastic!

Disclaimer: LTE can do whatever the Hell they want to do for the second album. These are just my thoughts put out there to see what others think or maybe expecting. Mike, John, Jordan and Tony could burn seventy-eight minutes of improve, or a slew of meticulously composed 30-second tracks. Either way, I'll pre-order my copy from Magna Carta as soon as I have a catalog number to use.

Hello people! I have a small question about my membership to the DTIFC. Alright, I subscribed just in time to get last year's Christmas CD, and, inlcuding that one, I have received three issues of the fanzine. Here's the question: Was the membership fee for four issues of the fanzine or for one year, no matter the number of issues we get? Please let me know, 'cause I don't want to send my money at the last moment in case it's time for me to renew. Thank you very much for your help.

Well, someone over in Marillion PR land decided that it would be cool to pull off a "computer-era" publicity stunt and spell Marillion Marill10n to look high tech, I guess. I don't really care though; I'm not a particular H-era Marillion fan, except for _Seasons End_, which is amazing. Even their "classic" _Brave_ doesn't do much to me, even though I wish it did, because I know someone who was in a similar situation as the protagonist in that album. I'm a huge Fish fan--I think his Marillion stuff is amazing and his solo work is pretty good too. After _SE_, which still had a lot of the "old" sound, H Marillion is too musaky for me somehow, and H always sounds like he's repeatedly jizzing in his shorts or something. :-)

Sorry for the lack of DT material. Can't wait for the live album and video--I better start saving up money cuz I doubt my parents are gonna be enthuiastic about paying ~40 dollars in one shot.

Easy answer to this one, though you may not like it: EMG 81. You don't get much hotter than active PUs. If you're looking for passive, I recommend the DiMarzio FRED (stock on my JS), but I've also heard nice things about the Steve's Special. Any other questions, let me know...

    >I disagree with this opinion. We need to regulate people, not the hardware >used to to carry out the desired crime. I totally agree with that. I have no desire to regulate guns, none at all. I think they're cool, and useful, and important, and I was only saying that If I had to pick, I'd rather regulate guns than movies with violence. But absolutely, neither should be regulated, the fucked-up people should. So I think Al and I are pretty much in agreeance. I was flipping through an issue of Guitar World the other day out of sheer boredom ( for those who don't know Guitar World is the worst guitar magazine the world has ever concieved). Inside they were showing some instructional videos and one of them was JP's! They really praised it a lot. Now I know this might not come as a surprise to some of you considering that the mighty JP has had a long running instructional article in Guitar World for quite a while. It's just nice to see something nice about my favorite guitar player, from my favorite band, in a national, well distributed magazine.

On another note; I see that the ol' "Lets get eMpTyV to play DT by constantly harrasing their request phone operators" has made it's return from the depths once again. Well here goes my 2 cents. My roomate was watching eMpTyV the other day. One of the programs (if you can really call them programs) on was something called "Fanatic" were the people who write in and are selected get to meet and interview their favorite celebrity. Wouldn't it be great if we could get Dream Theater on!!! I mean hey if Stone Cold Steve Austin could get on then surely DT could.

<< Last Thursday was a 80's pop metal hair special on MTV and they mentioned Bret Micheals upcoming movie w/soundtrack, but didn't mention a reunion(as assumed on the webpage) at all.

That's because what you saw was a repackaged version of a special called It Came From The 80s II: Metal Goes Pop. It originally came out two years ago and at the time the Poison reunion was not definite. While I loved that special when it first came out (and it was an hour long back then too), by now a lot of that information is out of date. Vince Neil has since returned to Motley Crue; Ratt has reformed, released an album, and is recording a new one for Sony, George Lynch is out of Dokken and has been replaced by Reb Beach (ex- Winger, Alice Cooper), Vixen has released a new album, Cinderella has gotten back together, and, of course, the aforementioned Poison reunion has taken place (although they are dragging their asses). Just in case you didn't know.

Damn, I've gotta try a guitar with EMG's in it. All I hear about is how much ass they kick. :P

In my RG570 I dropped some DiMarzzio's into is. An Evolution (Vai pickup) in the bridge and a PAF Pro (Old JP) in the neck. It's an OK combo, but I liked the sound of the Steve's Special and the Air Norton combo in the JPM series 2 guitars. Man, that was a humdinger of a guitar. :) The Evolution pickup's pretty nice, but gets a little muddy on the low end and the PAF Pro's a warm, tonal pickup good for light soloing a la Another Day.
