I have to agree about the ytsejam t-shirts. I got mine in the mail
yesterday, and am very satisfied. Josh did a great job on them. They're a
nice heavy duty shirt. The artwork turned out really well. I recommend
them to everyone.

curious on any reviews...
It sounds a lot like Accident of Birth stuff to me so far (which is a good
thing).

I know what you mean, so many bands are hyped on the jam, I had big expectations for S-X. Like you, I was a little disappointed at first, but they really grow on you, especially the vocals. For me, they now surpass the high expectations that I originally had!

Since the lack of new management for DT everything that has been sent to the NY office has got stuck there. NOTHING has been forwarded to Neil Elliott in the UK so please be patient. It has nothing to do with Neil at all. There was a message in the last DTIFC fanzine (which you obviously have not seen cos you haven't got it) which said DON"T send any money etc to the NY address.
Please pass this on.

Hi folks...
As many of you know, the Galactic Cowboys have recently released "At the End of the Day" in the US on Sept 22nd. If you haven't found it yet, keep trying. This CD truly is greatness. If ya need a catalog number to special order it from a local shop, try (MBR #3984-14183-2).
Now onto the bad news... this came from the Official GC page:
"Galactic Cowboys would like to officially inform all of our fans what has transpired in the past week. On September 16, 1998 our drummer Alan Doss, for personal reasons, resigned from Galactic Cowboys. Alan has also decided not to do the tour with us (which starts in two weeks). We are sad to see Alan go, and while we wish his timing was better, we wish him the best. We sincerely thank Alan for 9 1/2 years of dedication to the music and for his invaluable contributions."
"We WILL do this tour. Filling in on drums is Erick Tatuaka. Erick was chosen last night (Sept. 22) for this position after auditions. Erick is from Austin, Texas and has most recently been the drummer for guitarist Chris Duarte (Jive/ Silvertone Records). Rehearsals have been going great and we are all very excited about hitting the road. See ya soon! More news as it happens... you heard it here first! Love, Ben, Monty, Wally"
The tour is still on... whew!!! I guess all I can say is I wish Alan the best. I wonder if he'll still produce future GC projects??? hmm... they still have at least one more CD on their MBR contract...
well, talk to ya'll later, Dan

Yo MoFo's, Well this cd came out Tuesday and I haven't seen any posts about it yet. Basically if you liked Carved in Stone or even thought it was just okay you'll probably love this cd.... but if you hated Carved in Stone you'll hate this one too. They added more of a Savatage type sound (duh, this is a rock opera) to the band this time around. The production is also much better. Everything else is pretty much the same. They could use a producer to focus their sound down a little bit...sometimes all the keyboard layerings are overkill and it's impossible to get a real clear mix with their arrangements. The songs are good. It's progressive metal...they play fast and in odd time signatures. Any questions?

Sorry... I should've been more clear in my post... LTE will be going back into the studio in October, with the same lineup... Portnoy/Levin/Petrucci and of course the much talked about Jordan Rudess. :)
> Mike Portnoy (drums) > Jim Matheos of Fates Warning (guitar) > Neal Morse of Spock's Beard (vocals, keyboards) > Pete Trewavas of Marillion (bass)
This line-up does not have a name yet, but will be in the studio in December. I'm still drooling over the thought of hearing Mike and Pete play together on one album. :))

Friend of mine and I are having a bit of a musical trivia argument. Perhaps there's somebody out there who could shed light on this topic:
Was Steve Vai ever in Savatage and/or did he ever play with them?
(BTW, I'm the one siding with "no".)

Hey everyone. I just had the pleasure of getting some email from Enchant's drummer Paul Craddick. Without further ado:
As far as I'm concerned, "Break" is hands-down the best Enchant album, so far. We've developed a much more original sound, I think (adding alternative and grunge elements into the melting pot), and I feel pretty good about the drum performances. Stylistically, what I'm doing is a bit of a "compromise" between Blueprint and Wounded, leaning more towards the latter (although, hopefully, w/ better and funkier groove and feel). For example, one new track, "My Enemy," is similar in spirit and arrangement to Blueprint-stuff, but played more loosely, with "rawness." It sounds more precise to me than Wounded, but looser than Blueprint. In addition to "Break," I finished off a side/solo project this summer, called "Xen," that's quite a bit different than Enchant.

Hello, Well, due to restricted funds, I had to choose what to buy among the four CDs released in the past two weeks. Here are the two I came home with:
Cowboy Mouth - Mercyland: This southern rock band is great live, but poor production tends to make their albums very stale. Their first label release, Are You With Me?, at least had some truly great songs to compensate, but the material here is lacking somewhat. The two best songs are ruined by bad production (one song is muddy, the other has poorly layered vocals), and a great deal of the album is forgettable music. But I'll wait till I see them again live before passing a death sentence on this disc.
Chris Isaak - Speak of the Devil: This album rules. I couldn't imagine him putting out another album to compare with Forever Blue, but there really isn't a bad song on this CD. The first song, "Please", is pleasantly reminiscent of the title track to Heart Shaped World, and the second song, "Flying", is simply and indescribably beautiful. After only two listens, I could already hum half the tunes on this disc and sing the choruses to the rest. On the off chance there's an Isaak fan on this list, I urge you not to pass this one up. Well, Joshua Redman and Fighting Gravity will have to wait a bit, though my disappointment at the Mouth's new CD may prompt another purchase sooner than I can afford. But there are also videos to be bought and rented, comics to buy, movies to see, and six hours of TV I taped this week to watch. Whew! I got a busy weekend ahead! Oh... and the Sox clinched! Woo-hoo!

This is my first post to ytse, so rock on... I downloaded the TTT mp3 from the /incoming site, it took about 8 hours to download, and I'm on a T1, but it was worth it. I have to say that Jordan rocks both in the song itself and the kick-ass solo tacked on to the end. I don't want to get caught up in the Derek vs. Kevin vs. Jordan battle, but I will refrain. I will say that keyboards _is_ what's lacking in FII, probably becuase it just wasn't written into the songs.
So what's the word on the next DT tour?
