I believe Mike's confirmed the overdubs on ACOS, but the easiest way to tell
is by comparing the "Uncovered" boot to "ACOS". James was sick during the
gig, so his voice is not in top form, you can really tell during the
"screams" in Perfect Strangers, and John P. screws up the opening "solo" in
the first part of the Zeppelin medley. Well, he doesn't really screw up,
but he adds an extra note that isn't there on the ACOS CD.

You're all nuts, just seeing a DT video incidentlly on one pal video
tape was pretty thunder-shocking , in no way I thought is it good or
bad? I LOVED IT! It was Take The Time, and after watching that video TTT
became my fave I&W fave song! :) And overall, I think it's a good
video. There ARE some classical shots and those cool eye looks in the
camera by the soon-to-be-model KJLB, but what the heck - I finally saw
my DT guys on TV that time! :)

Seems obvious to me. Selling out means compromising your musical integrity in order to make money or please somebody.
The opposite would be to stick to what YOU want to do, nevermind to how much you make, nevermind to how much your label makes nevermind what you think your audience wants to hear.

Well, why don't we just import alot of Brittany Spears wanna be's and some swedish bikkini team members and raise them with nothing but prog. then when we are all like 60 years old, there will be all these HOT 25 year old prog girls . and we will tell them that the dress code on the island is daisy dukes and cutoff WHITE sleeveless shirts and play water sports and prog over a PA.. yeah.. then import some Liquor and Beer, no taxes of course. And Magna Carta can relocate there with all the bands and thier families.. eventually it will grow in size.. we will threaten the US with total world dominance unless they surrender the execs of MTV to us. We will then force them to watch every video they have played for the past 5 years in a theater 15 hours a day while a registered nurse (or a girl that looks good in a nurse's outfit) applies liquid lubricant to their eyes (which, btw are pinned open, and cleans out their ears for better hearing). With volume magnitudes in the 115 db range (audio engeneering arranged by Al sponsered by Rotel), they will be forced to gag and spew up thier lunch whenever they hear that shit played again, and we will then let the prog bands DT, SG, Marillion, Rush, LTE, etc etc.. play songs for them and they will finally see the brilliance of Progression. Then we will hire an ex-Microsoft engineer and an ex-Intel chipmaker to create a chip and software so that we can update the newly "braincleansed" execs weekley so that Pop and Crap doesn't again appear on MTV. Then we will withdraw our world dominance threat and live happily ever after, only after we hire an ex-3com engineer to wire the entire island with one giant network server and run cable modems to all houses (or maybe just T4s). And by this time all the ytsejammers with degrees will ACTUALLY get a job in the field they mastered (for lack of competition, and bonus points for have such great taste in music). And every jammer will be required to man the radiostation for at least one shift a month, so the variety of quality music stays strong and un-popified. This will also include the afforementioned band members. There will be fish grill parties everynight with music arranged by either dj or reafformention bands, with imported guests (just can't live on the beach without a little Jimmy Buffet!) giving concerts once a week. Oh yeah i almost forgot, BearTracks studios will be relocated to the remote island (and will be using pirated power via a long extension cord running from Cuba). The island will be called Ytseland, and will the home of the new theme park Disneyjam. Oh and we need a midget to run around going "de plane, de plane" ..
i hope i didn't put too much thought into this.. i don't have enough brain cells to spare..

Well Altura at least has done a short tour (about 5 dates). Unfortunately when they played Baltimore it was at some dive I never heard of plus I didn't hear about it until it had already happened (well supposedly).
I think Tempest has toured also.
Whether or not MC does anything to help with the bills is probably a big NO.

i don't think that's a very good example of "selling-out", simply because after the straight teen-rock party atmosphere of their first album, "More than words" was actually a step up in sophistication for extreme :)
i gotta figure out where my "extreme" tape is at. Haven't listened to that in a while, and, what with the mention of it last week.....

No offense, CD, but how the hell can you have a conversation if no-one is aloowed to express their opinions ? I mean, most of the rambling that comes out of one's mouth is based on one's opinions. If all that is to be cut out, I bet that the Jam gets quite silent...

Hi, there!
This Ytse Island-idea made me think: "I wonder how many black/colored/afroamericans/whatever people there would be..." This is NOT a racist question (at least, it wasn't meant to be one). I just happened to think about it. I think that most of us prog-rockers developed from listening to some sort of Yngwie / Europe / other cheezy 80's heavy metal into the more mature prog-metal. Whereas most black people (I MIGHT BE TOTALLY WRONG HERE, IT'S THE IMPRESSION THAT I GET) were listening to hip-hop/rap-stuff in the 80's which either hasn't developed or has developed into "R&B" and "soul" (which has nothing to do with the original Rythm&Blues nor original soul-music). Well, whatever, I'm just sitting at work being bored, and when I do so, the strangest ideas pop into my head :)
Take care now, bye-bye then Simon Long Krogh

I don't know how many of you are familiar with Canada's Much musci station, but we get it in New Orleans for some odd reason. (?) A while back on there heavy metal show "Loud" they played The Silent Man, this was in 1998. I thought it was interesting. That was also the only place I've seen Anthrax's "Inside Out" which was a cool vid based on that twilight zone episode where they guy kept seeing things on the wing of the plane. Only in the video Anthrax was jamming out on the plane!

Well, I finally got a job which means I'm finally bored enough to read this, no offense to y'all. Anyway, I just had to throw it my pesonal opinion on what a Sellout band is, and wether or not DT is a Sellout band.
Definitions: (1) The simplest definition, a hardcore straight-edge band starting to drink, do drugs, or anything agaist the sXe beliefs. (2) A band changing their style when they're not meant to. Possible motives are becoming more popular, making more money, glammer...fame, greed...etc.
Guys, this is scary, but I know a guy who had never heard of prog before I enlightened him, but at the same time his favorite band was Symphony X. Does that make Symphony X sellouts, appealing to a non-prog head? I think not. And if it does, call me a sellout too, 'cause I still like 'em.
Now, would DT have been considered Sellouts? Hell no! In my opinion, the music changes when the musicians change. The new keys in ytsejam for instance...good stuff huh? I never noticed it until Derek came along, maybe I just wasn't paying attention though. His style differs from Kevin's, and therefore the music differs. That doesn't make them sellouts. They'd be sellouts if they kept the name and changed to alternative or something like that.
Now, as for Jordan, I anticipate great things from him. Judging by his performances on LTE and LTE 2, I fell very strongly that he plays well with DT, and I think he'll be a lasting member/influence in/on DT.
A comment on the Ytse Island...well why don't we do something like that movie "Exit to Eden"? Then we'll have no problem with women. ;) Oh, and for the younguns on the list (as if I'm not) that's inappropriate for children. (I fealt it necessary to tag on that little warning.)
That's all for now. Hopefully I'll start actively posting.

Heheheh. Yah, but TTT is bad. PMU wasn't so bad, really. It was typical of the times. Videos generally are cheesy and don't make sense. I think the sterotypical "metal band wearing pirate clothing" of TTT was wrong. Blouses, ankhs... BLAH! :)
During that era, I'd have to say that most videos were cheesy. Ozzy holding the midget in Time After Time. The kid flying his bed around in Silent Lucidity. *shrug* The "Bee Girl" in the Blind Melon video (yipe!). The only videos I can think of that actually enthralled me and I ever really cared to see twice were Tool's claymation wonders and Live's Lightning Crashes (and that mostly because the song kicks ass). Other than that, none really stand out to me. :\
