4th.....must have been before Bruce Fairbairn died....
anybody know what that does to the release of "the ladder" -- not that i

I wrote this in a preventive purpose because some jammers like to flame people with different opinions. I think neither of us wanted to argue. It's just a case of misunderstanding from both parts. The fact that you always need to insult people made this into the argument I was trying to avoid.

It's good to see Tony M's name on this list. I've been listening to him for years, although I lost track of his work here in the late 90's. If you like classical fusion, I'd recommend you check him out. Tony is not only fast and clean, but he manages to add some soul to his playing. It should be interesting to hear him pared-up with Derek. The interesting thing is that Tony can shred on keyboard as well as anyone. Does he ever tour?

I got an extra copy of the Japanese version of the Flower Kings CD "Scanning the Greenhouse". Dont ask how - they call them "Senior Moments" .........
It is unopened and as such in mint condition. The Flower Kings are a progressive rock band from Sweden that reminds one a lot of old Genesis and ELP. (Note: NO METAL !!) In fact, the Japanese version of this CD contains the (full length) cover of Cinema Show from Genesis !! The songs run an average of about 11 minutes.
The cost of this is $22, and you pay the postage. Frist come, first served !!

The latest CD from Greg Howe is called "Ascend" and it features Vitalij Kuprij (Artension) on keyboards... It doesn't say in the liners that Greg plays keys, but I don't know for sure... I have seen Tony MacAlpine several times live and he is utterly amazing... My favorite CD of his is "Inspiration", very tastey...

>Care to explain your obsession for insulting people?
It stems from a major childhood abuse in which the Medulla oblongata is "pinched." This practice was common among many parents, particularly in the notherly section of the United States. The action is caused when parents discipline a child by grasping the child firmly and harshly by the back of the neck and applying pressure. The pressure causes a response from the Medulla (located at the base of the brain, near the back of the neck) which signals the pituitary gland to create mass quantities of testosterone and adrenalin. Not only does this burst cause the child to become enraged with fury at the time, it has more devastating long-term effects: increased muscular development, elongated penis length, athletic prowess, a greater sense of self-esteem, accellerated thought processes, increased immunity to toxins and infectious diseases... et al.
This form of discipline has recently been curbed through law enforcement and the recent trend for children to announce these disturbing brutalities brought upon them by their parents. Recent scientific studies have revealed that "disciplining" a child, as has been a common practice for years, is actually a hate crime against the child. When a person reaches adulthood, it has been found they develop a sense of abhorrance towards those between infancy and their teenage years, especially if the victim is their own child. Apparently, "disciplining" a child for immoral behavior is simply an excuse to perform a crime of angst. Morals and religion have lately undergone tremendous renovations whereas a child shall actually be rewarded for what was once considered "immoral" behavior. Thus, the lack of "pinching" of the Medulla Oblongata, will allieve the horrible side-effects caused by the action giving children the freedom to reach maturity overweight, lazy, sick, ignorant, and with small testicles as God intented.
Children who were abused by "pinching," upon reaching maturity, develop an irrational sense of arrogance and an overwhelming desire to dominate others which may explain why many of them enter the arena of professional wrestling as a means to allieviate their wrath. Examples of famous people afflicted by pinching include Terry "Hulk Hogan" Bollea, Randy "Macho Man" Savage, Bill Clinton, Howard Stern, Nicole Bass, and RuPaul.
So, apparently, AL was a victim of "pinching." You can see why the side-effects might warrant his desire to feel more important than you as he is much more capable of performing actions which you may fail to do. Rather than feel apathy toward him, express your pity openly and comfort an abused child.
Thank you. -- KorgX3 NP: Nightwish - Oceanborn

So Vanessa Mae eh? Well, I kinda dont like her. Maybe she is a sell out.;) I played the violin for 10 years, and I think that she is not a genious. Not at all. She just knows, how to sell herself. She is just a girl, who plays classical music in a different way.
But at first, when I had seen her for the first time, I had found her appealing....but when a saw her playing that white violin with those cut outs, I said: - No way! If she plays this cut-out violin, then it is really not a big deal. Because she can reach the higher notes much easier.
So...Boooooo Vanessa Mae. Uff! Thus spake:

All non ex-YU folks, might skip this one! ------------------------------------------- Hi! Just informing if any of you guys wanna check out a great mini jazz festival which will happen in Macedonia starting from 26-th August, in a town Kumanovo, half hour drive from Skopje, first city after the YU border!
The first night is going to be sick:
- local dude called Toni Kitanovski, who finished guitar studies at Berkeley with his Trio. They play some kind of Scofield type of jazz, but more groovin'. The drummer he took is a miracle!!! That guy took 2 years studying at once at Berkeley. I saw this Trio this summer, and I just couldn;t take my eyes of the drummer, and I don't even play drums! :) So, first: Toni Kitanovski Trio
- Yep, the punk decided to play for his folks finally - Vlatko Stefanovski Trio!!! :)))) Now,being it's a jazz festival,m these guy might pull out some jazzier jams, and all of them are into that music.
- Hold your pants now. Ready? :) OK! Tochak Trio!!!! Which Tochak??? The band SMAK guitarist you fools! :) This guy used to be said as best YU guitarist, and they were always there changing the 1-st place with Vlatko. Awesome guitarist. Now if only 1 more thing happens I'll have a heart attck - all of these 3 dudes coming out and doing a acoustic guitar trio! :) Like Paco, McLaughlin ... Actally this already happened in Belgrade, Tochak, Vlakto and one other, I dunno how it was. Any of you guys know about this?
Festival will be few days. Second day will be Anastasia and DD Synthesis night, Macedonian ethno oriented stuff. Don't tell me you don't know Anastasia, .. "Before The Rain" movie music ...
3-rd day: Garo & Paramecium! That's right the legend Leb i Sol drummer with his jazz rock band, great music! And they'll release their album soon so ... watch out.
4-th day: Bodan Arsovski with his "Ezgija" band, promoting his soon-to-be-released 2-nd solo album. I also heard him this summer, this is some sick stuff, all kinds of weird ethno rhythms, breaks, temp changes, .. nothing like prog shred fest, but still VERY complex music. AND very emotional and melodic in the same time! :) This is a must check out!
I still don't know who else, ... but this is far more than enough to start planning! :)
So, ... hope to see some of you, if you do plan to come, contact me. Believe me, you won't regret. The only pain in the ass would be the trip. How long does it take anyway from Croatia to Macedonia?
Sorry for the NDTC!

Sooo.... Petrucci is a sell-out for using a cut-out guitar so he can reach the higher notes easier? Perhaps we should bitch-slap him into into the 19th century and make him play a standard old acoustic and nothing else? :) -- KorgX3 NP: Chromakey - Colorblind.mp3
