That's the most incredible thing I've ever read on the 'Jam!
For years Heather Nova has been my favorite artist, but I never=20
thought it worthwhile to write to YtseJam about her, her music=20
being totally (to say the least) different from DT.
I have everything she's released, and because you said you=20
liked Siren, I must recommend strongly her previous album=20
Oyster. It's darker and sadder, and to me even more poignant=20
than Siren. And she's already demoed songs for her=20
upcoming disc!
Also to add to the ongoing "most moving song" thread: the top
20 in that category for me would be all Heather.

Message-ID: <386379B8.96B01A83@isd.net>
OK.. So I'm wondering around my local 24-hour Wal-mart in the wee hours
of the morning... Doing some last minute Christmas shopping. (As always)
As I stroll through their painfully limited music department, (Looking for
some lame CD the daughter wants) I happened to notice they had "The
Ladder" by YES. Well I didn't, and that just didn't seem right. Now I'm
working with limited funds this late in the game, and I've already spent
$300.00 more than I had planned this year... Decisions decisions decisions..
I thought: Aw fuck it, the shirts were on sale.. :)
After my detour to White Castle, <cringe> (for my monthly digestive systems
stress test) I returned home for some 5:00 AM package wrapping fun. Yuk..
I placed the disc in the player and sat down to start wrapping gifts. By the
fourth track I had entered a musically induced stupor. (with a little help :)
I stopped wrapping (not Rapping) and really began to focus on the music...
The Ladder is truly a great album. It's very fresh and enjoyable. I was so pleased
it didn't sound like another tired band trying to milk another buck from their
geriatric fan base. ANY 70s era YES, or Spocks Beard fan would LOVE this CD.
Anyway.. Time to see if I can get my fat ass down the chimney. :)
Merry Christmas!

Twas the 27th of January,
Nineteen twenty eight,
When two young lovers
Snuck off for a date.
The woman was a sight
All dressed up in white,
And the man equally handsome;
They met late at night.
Little did they suspect
On that wintery eve,
That Veronica's husband Edward
Had a card up his sleeve.
]From out of the darkness
Some glass did shatter,
And the sound of footsteps
Approached with a clatter.
To what did Julian's
Keen eyes did appear,
But his own brother Edward
Who approached with a sneer.
"Keep your hands off my wife,"
Edward had said.
"And get away from her now
Or you'll surely be dead!"
"Edward I love him!"
Victoria cried.
Then Edward went ape$#!%
Like we figured he might.
He pulled out a gun
And Julian a knife,
And Edward shot Julian
Not once, but twice.
Victoria screamed out,
An anguish filled cry,
And fell to the ground
Where she lay still and died.
Julian crawled to Victoria,
His life draining away,
And they both died together
In the dark alleyway.
Edward did run
To his home in a hurry;
Thoughts of prisons and bars
Did make him worry.
So he crafted a note,
A suicide to confess,
And planted it on Julian
To cover his mess.
And as he stood over their bodies,
He said with a grin,
"I'll be back as a hypnotherapist
To kill you again!"
Merry Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, <place holiday here> Everyone!

And can we hope for a tour of sorts in the US? You'd think a New Jersey band

I happened to see a bit of Leno's show few nights ago, and some dudes made
a painting with Robin Williams, and there was this *really* weird band
playing on the background with 6 drummers & percussionists & stuff... all
players wearing nothing but black (except the faces were neon green or
yellow or something).
Does anyone know what band it was? I really liked their weird-ass stuff and
would like to get some CDs or anything.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read someone bitching about DT
touring with 2 other bands.
Some of you people just have no idea how lucky you are, seeeing
DT and 2 other great bands would be something special.
You can bet the other 2 bands will be great too.
DT don't tour my country (Australia) so in November I flew to
Europe and caught the shows in Zwolle and Brussels.
Now shouldn't I be the one bitching about having to travel
to the otherside of the world to see DT ?

I had an early Christmas gift tonight. I heard DT broadcast for the first
time, on DirectTV!
For those of you not familiar with the DirectTV music channels, I'll
explain: with DirectTV you get many music only channels broadcast to you,
each playing a specific type of music. There are channels for all the
main genres(rock, rap, pop, etc), as well as some more "specific" ones:
Big band, blues, worldbeat, etc.
Each channel plays music round-the-clock over crappy graphics, and at the
bottom of the screen displays artist, song title, album title, and record
label.
I noticed a while back that there is a "Progressive" channel, and I have
been tuning in regularly to hear OFB, or something of that nature. I was
disappointed to hear Grateful Dead, and other such semi-prog (if that)
stuff.
Finally, whie flipping thru the channels, I heard the beginning of PMU!
Oddly enough, it was on the "metal" channel, not the prog one. Either
way, it's good air time, good publicity, and an early Christmas present.
I danced and sang ecstatically.
Happy Holidays!
