I've got that CD, but I just can't stand the vocals. It's not that they're death metal vocals or anything, they're just weird! Do they have another CD with better vocals?

If by "crap" you mean "cheese", than I can definitely agree with you. It's a corny piece of work. I think it's what Lucassen was going for...I'll give him the benefit of the doubt there.

    >Lucassen is a AWFUL singer, and he >sings a lot in the album.

Wouldn't say that, but he's certainly the most poor of the bunch (considering his competition (Damian Wilson, Fish, et al), no wonder). Him or the "Futureman" (no relation to the infamous Wooten Brothers). Between the two of them, they've also got the worst lyrics on the album. More on that in a sec.

    >into Elisseum >the isle of Avalon...

Nearly all the lyrics are cheesy. The ones that try to establish the character in time are the worst (hippie and futureman having the silliest time periods, they tend to get the shortest ends of the sticks). Like I said, though, I assume he was making them intentionally corny. The kids like their "camp" factor, afterall.

    >HUMILITY (if that's the correct word)is what this guy >needs to learn, 'cause talent and skills I admit he >has more than enough.

Lucassen, from everything I've seen from him, is a goofball (in a good sense). I compare him to somebody like Zappa. Not on the same level, IMO, but it's the same sort of deal: musical genius that enjoys playing what they want to play and having fun with it. "Joe's Garage", one of my favorite albums of all time: the story of a guy who gets dumped by a girl (who goes off with a hot rock & roll band), gets an STD (gonhocacacaca) from a girl who works at a fast food restaurant, and eventually ends up "plooking" a creature that looks like a cross between a toaster and a studded chrome piggy bank. More stuff too, but you get the idea. It's all fairly abstract and silly stuff, just like "Into The Electric Castle".

    All is opinion, of course.

    Hi jammers,

I wasn't going to write about this, but I went to the Yes concert at the AJ Palumbo Center here in Pittsburgh last night... if Yes hasn't came your way yet on the Ladder tour, get tickets. It was a very decent show. It was my first Yes concert, so if I saw fairly obvious things, forgive.

They played some old, some new. It was nicely rounded. The two encores were Owner of a Lonely Heart (which was a million times better than the studio version) and Roundabout, both excellent.

Funny thing was the guy two seats down from me, after every song, would yell "STARSHIP TROOPER!". They never played Starship Trooper, but when I got into the car after the show and turned on the radio some guy called in and said "The Yes Concert was ok, just they didn't play starship trooper." Kind of coincidential.

Besides the drunk guy beside me poorly conducting the band the entire evening, it was an extremely decent evening. If you can get to a ladder tour show, do so or bash your head in with a rock.

Hey, I was at a friend's place last night. He has digital cable. I noticed a channel on there called VH-1 Classic Rock. Hmm, I thought, let's see what maybe good, but overplayed classic rock videos they're showing. Well, I happened to see the video for Perfect Strangers. It was horrible, but it was cool that it was on. Also some Yes, Hotel California (good song, but overplayed), and this pone band who's name escapes me. Arthur Brown's something or other. Some really laughably bad 70's art rock (big quote from it - "I am the god of hellfire. And I bring you...fire"). Seemed like a potentially cool thing going. I'll have to check it out some more.

Oh absolutely! What a great band! Luke, you also need to check out their debut album "Entropia" (also a concept CD).

Gran Turismo 2 is set set to come out on Dec 8th. It is supposed to be the only PSX game to push the system completely to its limits. I can't wait. There might be another soundtrack, as like the first one. A CD came out with all the songs on it. I played a demo of the game, seems pretty wicked. But its no Resident Evil 3. that's a mans game.

I can't believe that you're excited about this. The first Gran Turismo sucked wookie ass. The directional was WAY too sensitive. If you so much as *tapped* the button to go left, you went WAY left. It sucked IMHO.

    >>> Rush rumblings December 1, 1999

Rush drummer Neil Peart has once again picked up his drumsticks following a pair of personal tragedies over the last two years. Though he has yet to join forces with bandmates Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, the trio does have plans to record a new studio album in the year 2000. However, word has it that they plan to no longer tour. The band has also delayed the release of the companion DVD to their most recent live album, Different Stages, until sometime in the new year. >>>

I dunno about coupons, but my brother claims that 800.com has really cheap DVDs. I don't shop there myself because I don't have a DVD player, but I'll take his word for it.

I usually check around at the following places: DVDEmpire, Buy.com, and CDNow. Buy.com generally has some really sweet prices, as does CDNow. :) I just think that DVDEmpire has a bigger stock. Some local stored usually aren't too bad either. (like Costco). -- KorgX3 picked up Pink Floyd's The Wall DVD yesterday. :)

Think I'll be picking it up. I wonder who did the code. There was a company around these parts that did a game for the PC about 5 years ago that was pretty advanced. They actually went out to real race tracks and surveyed them, (hey Wes, how cool would THAT job be? :) so they could model the physics more closely.

Hmmm, the sound is this ad was not techno. Maybe this is the sequel? This was a mean sounding engine. Imagine JP turning everything on "FULL-ON", all knobs pegged. He plays a note and slides up the neck in concert with the RPMs, then as you shift he quickly starts down near the bottom of the neck again. Not sure what mode he's in; but to appease Al, I'll call it Mopar-o-lydian ;)

Another comment on this... this CD was pissing me off last night while playing it in my truck... Had the volume on about 15 (normal is about 7), hit eject and the damn radio kicked in with some DJ yelling in my face at full blast... If would have wrecked I wonder if I could have sued Shrapnel (no money) and the maker of my CD deck? hehe I fired off a complaint to Shrapnel and I suggest everyone does... Maybe they'll fix this error (which it clearly is) and repress the CDs...

hehehe. More like the Cult Scouts. Weird little group of people. They seem to mostly be based out of Idaho here. Basically they're a branch of Masonic girls who get together behind closed doors to practice witchcraft, bestiality, tarot reading, and drinking infants' blood.

Every once in awhile they travel door to door selling hash cookies and breastmilk. Mmm... mmm... good! -- KorgX3 is head of the Supreme Council of Job's Daughters. NP: Steve Vai - All About Eve.mp3
