What about with AIM, which I use? I can chat with AOL people (and
fellow AIM users) w/o ever downloading AOL. For any AOL user who wants
to ditch AOL, I say go for it, then go to www.aol.com and download AIM.
It's the only AOL product that I would say is worthwhile.

someone talked to john p or mike p i believe after a show and they said it
was already recorded. i realize this is sort of a word of mouth thing, and
therefore prone to unreliability, but it's from the band member to a jammer
to the jam, not that many steps... seems reasonable to believe it's true.
the "only practiced it once" thing came about a while ago. perhaps they
recorded it in the interim? (src = subtlerage content :) who knows. moo.

Might I recommend the new Nevermore cd, Dreaming Neon Black? If you are interested in extremely heavy, well-played power/prog metal, this is the ticket. The cd finds the band in rare form. I got my copy from CDNow for only 10-something delivered with the 5 dollar off deal they were running through Yahoo. Be prepared for some heavy, dark, great stuff!

I did discover that winamp (2.09) does let you decode mp3 files to wav files. All you do is change some options, hit play and your play list of mp3s are converted to wav and fairly quickly.
But the question that I haven't answered yet is does winamp do a good job of decoding mp3 to wav?
also are there any other good mp3 sites out there besides Moshs, the mit one, and mp3.com? What I mean by any is any site that doesn't cause 10 windows of crap to open before you get to the site...

Bert! Calm down! I was just saying what would be cool for me. I don't expect Mike to say, "You know, there's a few poor souls in ytse-land that want something, and I'm the man to do it." I'm not bitching, griping, or whatever. I'm just saying it would be very cool if Met2:the derek version was somehow available to us, since it will be so different than the original. I don't expect Mike to go out of his way for my wishes. It's just a wish, not a demand. It's not like I'll start a petition or anything :)

Damn it, Gaz, do you think that OFB played it just once, had it notated and everything, and never recorded a DAT of it? I'm sure 30 minutes of complex music isn't easily memorized by playing it once. I'm sure Mike recorded it (as I heard he records everything) and it may be rough around the edges, and maybe not that good quality, but I'm sure it exists. Besides, if they had improvised in this rough version (experimenting with riffs and stuff), then they wouldn't want to lose that because it would be difficult to remember in a 30 minutes, hyper complex song. And I believe Mike said in his own words that it had been recorded.

i'm sure Messrs Myung and Labrie had input into the deal, but....
