    "ai, ai, ai, ai..."

the hand automatically reaches for the volume knob on the car
radio....there's no conscious thought involved in the motion, rather an
involuntary movement that almost precedes the, "hellyeah! Crazy Train!"
    thought busting through the brain.

a number of things go on when a song of that caliber comes over the
radio, many of them go unnoticed by the listener...like the pounding on
the edges of the steering wheel, like the foot mashing down on the
accelerator, like the traffic around which probably thinks someone just
    went nuts in that car......

4 or 5 minutes, and 7 miles down the road,

    "next!"

and i'm lucky that there weren't any cops around

p.s.: i can only imagine what might happen if ever a dream theater song
    came over the airwaves......

Xing encoder is terrible. Sure, it's like 10 times faster, but I
can clearly hear the horrible sound quality even when I try NOT to pay
attention to it. L3 is my favorite, and the frontend EasyMP3 is great for
L3 if you don't like that DOS command interaction. I've encoded about a
gig on L3 w/o any problems, so it should be ok :).

i'm sure Messrs Myung and Labrie had input into the deal, but.... >>>>

I do think it was engineered mostly but JP and MP, with JM and KJLB "seconding the motion". JP and MP had the most experience writing and recording with JR, so it seems only logical that they would push for it once they thought JR fit the band better.

I agree. In fact, I'll take it one step further. I would be mighty pissed if I went out to buy the new Dream Theater disc, only to discover that JoRud doesn't play on the whole disc. That would be tragic! I know some folks really like Derek and so fourth. But it would be a serious let down. Frankly, JoRud kicks Derek's ass from here to Pluto (which has been officially re-confirmed as a planet!) and back again in more ways than 1 billion. That simply can not be interpreted as anything other than fact.

If MetII never gets released, I'll consider it a trade off for JoRud. Damn! JoRud is in dt!! Pinch me, muthafuckas!!! I must be dreaming!!!

I just came across this link from Billboard's main page the other day, it's an MP3 search engine. I tried it for a song I've been wanting for quite a while, and couldn't find anywhere else....it searched and came up with probably 5 different sites with it. I didn't have time to scroll through all the DT mp3's, but it had quite a few, (the first listed was Damage, Inc...hehe) Anyway, the URL is http://mp3.lycos.com (i think)...seems to work great for me :)

I heartily agree with Kev's statement - if you like Heavy Metal (not that hairspray stuff that MTV used to call metal) GO BUY THIS ALBUM! Great vocals, excellent guitar and drum work, and VERY well written songs. All finished off with a top-notch production job by Neil Kernon. It has elements of Speed/Thrash, Prog, Power, and even Goth - but it just sounds like Nevermore.

BTW, have I mentioned yet that I'm thrilled that the evil Kevin Shirley's NOT involved... :)

LOL! There's a Mitsubishi commercial on now that uses the beginning of Crazy Train. My mom was trying to keep my attention locked in a conversation till that one came on. Suddenly my eyes flip to the screen and my little brother and I chant "ai, ai, ai, ai..." in unison.

That's OK. It was a boring conversation anyway.

And how the hell can you listen to the radio? *gapes* I guess if you don't have a cassette/CD player you'd have to... That'd suck. The only radio station I think that's worth listening to is KAOS in LA. :)

Here are my responses to the last several jams.

Well, Korg no longer makes X5 boards, now they have a Korg X5D. Go to http://www.korg.com/ to check it out.

About the moron polls. They should NOT be here at all. The only good that'll do is upset and/or piss off jammers. Not good.

Derek Sherinian's solo CD will be released on Magna Carta.

Now for the DT stuff. Dt99 looks really promising, not only because Mike is taking more control, but because I feel they ARE trying to get to the root of what DT is all about. I think DT99 will be the "flagship" DT album 10 years from now.

Also, I love Derek's playing (even more than Kevin's), but I think Jordan Rudess is the best board player on the face of the Earth.

Chew on that! <Fire suit on>
