That's how I got introduced to 'em, PMU(and I still here it every once in
awhile) and TTT both got rotation here, as well as Lie, and Burning My
Soul(but not for very long). Never heard UaGM on the radio, tho.

Hmmm... Are you able to control the intensity of light? Will Dream
Theater play? What if I wanted a very dark video (just to preserve the
mood of some songs), say, with one micro lux? Is it possible? Where do I
send the money? This one will clearly be a must have, man! The first show
of the next millennium, man! Wooohooo!

folks have written: <<<heh. I've tried hell-loads of 'em. The only one for me is AudioCatalyst. IMO, it's about the only piece of software I've ever bought worth its price. Go to http://www.audiocatalyst.com/ and download the demo. There's nothing sweeter than ripping a whole Cd in less than 15 minutes.>>> and: <<<For mp3 encoding, there's nothing like Xing CODECs, which include AudioCatalyst which can do super bit-rate conversions like 256 and greater, >>> and finally: <<<Xing encoder is terrible. Sure, it's like 10 times faster, but I can clearly hear the horrible sound quality even when I try NOT to pay attention to it.>>>

so is audiocatalyst a bad choice? if you use audiocatalyst do you *have* to use the Xing encoder (like, is that what runs it?), or is the fast Xing encoder just an available option? the a-c website seems to give mixed messages about this. i'm looking for a windows ripper and encoder that records high quality sound, and that gives me some song-editing capability.

    You know,

Skadz mentioned that he really didn't want jokes on the jam. Now, I'm not making an issue about that... what I _AM_ wondering, is if you're going to post a joke to the jam... why wouldn't you at least post something somewhat funny? No more lighbulbs, and no more "If X then it's prog" and lame ass stuff like that! We should just compile a big list of all the lame as moronic jokes that have been posted to the jam, and send it to all new subscribers so they realize it's already been done, and it wasn't funny then either. Someone should execute that Fatswarm guy... he's doing a lot to back up my hotmail theory (and yes, that's still a joke). 4 times over.

P.S. I need pros and cons of PC based recording vs. ADAT vs. external hard disk recorders (like the VS 880 and 1680) if anyone is knowledgeable and wants to help me out a bit.

While I don't have the "Holy Grail" tape, I'm sure I have a gig with Rudess in the Dregs. I've seen every Morse/Related gig in my area since 1984, and have about 99% of them on tape, the only mishap being the infamous Morse gig in NJ (about a year ago) where Petrucci showed up and they played The Bash and Cruise Control. Needless to say, I literally threw my analog deck against the outside of the club and bought a DAT the very next day.

I remember hearing about this. Was this not the impetus behind Jordan and Rod collaborting? They stunned themselves during the jam or something and decided that making a recording with each other would be worthwhile. At least that's what I heard. I'm positive that someone out there has this gem hidden away. Own up, motherfucker! On another note, if any of you music historians out there know anything at all about the Pythagorean method of scale construction, could you please e-mail me? I am a bit confused by this idea and need issues resolved. Tank yoo. -Rahul Ananda

Oh, NO. Who the Hell is Fates warning? :)

Well, they DID tour with DT for part of the Awake tour, but that's not good enough. I didn't see them, and I don't think many of us were able to.

But seriously, how AWESOME would it be to see Fates and DT touring together later THIS year?!?!
