Theoretically, it's not impossible for a man to have a 7-octave vocal
range.A woman
called Maritta Gunther (or something like that) covered the piano range,
which is 7.5
octaves.However, only the 6 of them were considered to have musical value.I
found the
name of that woman in the Guinness Book Of Records, so i don't think that
anyone has
a vocal range that exceeds 7.5 octaves.Now, about Mariah, I can't say
whether she has a 7-octave vocal range or not, 'cause I only look at her,
not listen to her!

While I certainly can't claim to owning any live cynic tapes (desperately

cafe jazz came over the PA. After a while i recognised the music as 'Under
a Glass Moon'. Anyone out there know how i can get hold of this? was it
just a bit of fun or did they give more songs the jazz treatment?
I'd love to give a tape to my Dad!!!!

I think her debut album was Little Earthquakes, or Small Earthquakes, or
Tiny Earthquakes or something like that. It's a great album (my brother
owns it and I listen to it pretty often when I see him), and it has some
really great songs on it. It has some shit, but it also some real good
songs, more good than bad I'd say. I've heard her EP Crucify (which
features a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Thank You") and it's not as good as
Earthquakes, but then again it is an EP, so there you go.

You know what would be real cool? Jordan using a REAL piano for
the studio recording of the next DT album. With good playback gear,
keyboard simulated piano sticks out like a turd in a punchbowl.
That really detracts from the overall experience. IMHO
Yeah, I nice, warm, grand piano... /Me shudders just thinking about it.

I'd say that this was the ideal time if anything. Why not do an
anthology double CD of all of the Derek-era stuff that was unreleased
(or at least, as much of it as will fit on a double CD)? And for that
matter, it'd be pretty cool to hear some of the demos that never got
to the studio. And why limit it to the fan club? Songs like "Speak To
Me" have huge potential for Radio airplay, even in the UK (well, it
sounds like U2, dud'n' it?), so why not release it properly?

Part 1:
Just listened to Long Island Expressway from Acoustic Dreams!
Is it just me, or the bass line is the same as Awake's "Lie" intro???
They do it as a bluesy jam and do the blues chords changing scheme, but
that's the bass line IMO!

Hi all
here's the first of a number of reviews I promised.
ACRON - Labyrinth Of Fears
(Elevate Records ER02007)
Until last Thursday I had never heard of Acron, but
now I'm very glad I have. What these 5 Italians have
come up with on their first full-length album is more
than impressive. A fairly accurate description of the
mix would be symphonic prog, with some power passages
and some gothic elements. Bands like Dream Theater,
Symphony X and Paradise Lost come to mind, and I can
also hear bits that sound like Superior and Black
Jester. What sets the album apart from standard prog,
however, are the vocals - no wailing castrato, but an
aggresive, slightly dark metal style. There are some
very nice keyboard pieces and effects, sometimes a bit
funky and reminiscent of Derek (who?). The drummer does
a great job, especially the nicely dosed double bass
passages, and the overall performance is simply very
solid and professional. Outstanding tracks are the
opener "Dislocated", "The Last Candle's Burning" and
"Obsession", which has a strong "Metropolis" feel to
it. A band to watch out for and certainly worthy of
my 9/10.
