I believe Kev used a real pano for Space Dye Vest. You can see it in the
pic of the studio, and if you listen really carefully to the end of the
song, you can hear the sustain pedal being released.

Also, I believe Derek used a real Hammond for the beginning of the FII
tours for the organ, but switched to the VK-7 later on. And the VK-7 does
    do some great organ tone.

Yes, "Freebird" is by Lynyrd Skynyrd......... however, it's NOT at the end of "Metropolis" on OiaL. Try "Take the Time". As for the jam at the end of Met, I don't think it has a name, does it?

    ----

Well..... ol' Joe spent some loot today on CD's.

    First of all, I went to Media Play and I have a few questions/comments about stuff I saw;

    - Who/what kind of music is Sven Vath? I saw this CD, and have never even heard of it before..... but the cover looked like it belonged on a prog CD or something. Just curious.

    - How is Therion's Lepaca Kliffoth disc? Theli and Vovin kick ass, but I know they used to be a death-metal outfit. So how is Lepaca Kliffoth? "Death-ish"?

    - Good God - how many damn Metallica singles can one place sell for Pete's sake???

    - I Took a look at some Tori Amos CDs.... I've never heard anything by her, so could somebody point me in the direction of a webpage with MP3's or something? (damn I'm gonna feel like a stupid-fuck if the URL is toriamos.com, hehe)

    - Does it just piss anybody off when you think of how hard bands like DT work, then you see like 500 facings of a CD that's probably popular just because of a "look". Case in point - They have a display the size of Nebraska of some CD by a girl named Britney Spears. I've never heard her, or even heard of her, but I'm gonna take a wild stab and say it's due to the fact she's very marketable because she looks like a million..... scratch that, SEVERAL million bucks. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

While I was there I figured it was a good time to increase my number of Iced Earth CDs, especially since they're in town in a few weeks. So I bought Night of the Stormrider. Well, after two listens I don't think it's as good as their last three (Burnt Offerings, The Dark Saga, and Something Wicked This Way Comes), but make no mistake: this is still a really good metal disc. I do miss Matthew Barlow on the vox on this one, but John Greely is actually not bad at all. I really have to urge anybody who likes good heavy metal to check out Iced Earth (the latest, Something Wicked This Way Comes is probably a good starting point).

I also placed a special order on Jag Panzer's latest, Age of Mastery. I don't know much about these guys, but I wanted to check some of their stuff out before I see them on 2/20 opening for Iced Earth.

When I got home, I placed an order with Laser's Edge for both Pain of Salvation CDs (One Hour By the Concrete Lake, and Entropia - both Japanese versions). I can't even tell you how anxious I am to hear these two discs!

Also, I figured what the hell...... why not go ahead and order The Quiet Room's Introspect CD. These guys are also opening for Iced Earth, and I'm curious to hear the disc. It's been described as Fates Warning-ish to me, and indeed it is a bit from what I heard (only two VERY SMALL .wavs).

Ah well, that was my excitement for the day, I know all you bastards don't care though.......... :)

Hmm... my explanation is that they just put it where they like. Remember LaTM: It's not on the front cover, neither on the back cover, it's on the disc itself...

On a sidenote... I only discovered the majesty symbol on the cover of FII a couple of months ago... That one must be the best hidden symbol on all of the albums (or did I miss some?)

I've received quite a few requests for the initial LTE NAMM video and now I have some additions.

I have come up with the following video tape for trade: LTE Roxy 2/1/99 - 56 minutes LTE NAMM 1/31/99 - 51 minutes Petrucci at NAMM 1/31/99 - 10 minutes Total Tape time - 117 minutes

If you have already put in an email request for the LTE NAMM show, then you don't need to ask for LTE Roxy and Petrucci at NAMM. It fits on one tape at SP anyway so you will get all three.

I also have RPM/RMP (Rudess-Morgenstein Project) at NAMM 1/31/99. This video will not be included on the above tape for the obvious reason (only 120 minutes on a tape). This show is 28 minutes and has some nice overhead shots (close) of Jordan's hands. Very clean audio on this as well.

I have already purchased 50+ blank tapes (Maxell HGX-Gold T-120) to record these as well as borrowed a couple of VCRs so I can do multiple simultaneous copies. So I should be able to CHURN these out quickly.

If you don't have ANYTHING to trade, we can still work something out.

I will be out of state for 3 to 4 days, but I will make Sat/Sun (the day I return) a mega LTE tape trade day. Please don't think I am ignoring you if you haven't received a reply email yet.

Hopefully I haven't forgotten anything (its late, I'm tired). But I worked on updating my website. Please link to the following for MORE information if you are interested in this tape:

The newer keyboards are getting better, but NOTHING else sounds like a grand piano. The Hammond "B" & "M" class organs are also unmistakable. BTW, IMHO, dual Leslies fuckin' rule! That sound CAN'T be duplicated. But you know what really gives me a woody? (like you'd care) A full size pipe organ. i got to meet Mike backstage after the last holiday show, and one of the things i asked him was whether they (DT) were planning on putting out any more of the unreleased material from FII...this is, in a nutshell, what he told me...

..he said that they were going to try and work out something with the fan clubs to make unreleased material from ALL of their albums (not just FII) available to fan club members!
