I *believe* this disc is a "mixed bag" of different tracks from
the tribute albums that Magna Carta has put together, if i'm not mistaken.

The truth is that today, the use of real piano is rare. All I can think of right now is Saviour Machine and Helstar.SM use real piano in "Legend" pt1 and pt2 and Helstar do the same in "Nosferatu". Rage, have also used real piano in "Lingua Mortis" (1995 or 96) but that was a special occasion (they played along with an orchestra). However, most progressive rock bands of the 70's played with real pianos: Genesis in "Foxtrot", ELP (Keith rules!) in "Tarkus" are some examples. BTW, anybody heard of Moon Bubbles and Excellent? They are supposed to be unreleased tracks of DT.If anybody know, please give me all the details.

I hope this didn't go through multiple times, but I had a problem when I first tried to send it...

Anyway, I sent this response to the ytsejam:

    >>>On the OIAL version of "Metropolis", what is the song they break into near theend (about 5:17)? It is some improv jam or is it a cover of another song?<<<

    >>QUIT asking that!!! It's been said SO many times. Okay, sorry. I asked too. After it was already dead. It's Freebird (by Skynyrd?) Anyway, it rocks out, but I don't listen to Skynyrd.<<

Nick Gianotti informed me of my error. Freebird is at the ent of TTT, not Metropolis. So now I must publicly declare myself Ambassador Idiot and apologize to the onw who asked the question in the first place. (Mr. Parmet?)

Thanks Nick. Now to look up 7 octave ranges...

Definately not a Duran Duran member - though he is British. Simon is just a plain kick-ass drummer. He is know for being totally ambidextrous (sp?) not only with his hands but with his feet also! He is currently the drummer for Toto, but has played for tons of different people and bands both on tour and in the studio. Some of his earlier stuff that I'm familiar with isn't really Jazz he tends to take music from many different genres and combine them. He is just awesome to watch. I bought his first instructional tape and about wore it out. if you can't tell I'm a huge fan of his!!!!!!!!!!

Funny that should be mentioned, because I think it is so cool, and once asked Derek about it, and he confirmed it was just an improv jam.

You know, ever since I saw that message this morning, I've been waiting for the reply. I knew it would be amusing.

I also like techno, along with many other types of music that would make most of you scratch your heads in wonderment. Or something like that. I pride myself on having a music collection where anyone looking at it will find at least one item that makes them say "You actually LIKE that?"

If you're unfamiliar with techno, I'd highly advise listening to Audet's sunday night Ytseradio show, where he plays all sorts of interesting music. I'd listen more often, but it happens to be on at the same time as La Femme Nikita and The Simpsons here, and anyone that knows me knows that television pretty much wins out over any other sort of entertainment (I'm so shallow).

So count this as another vote for techno/electronica or whatever you want to call it. Of course, I'm not sure if this counts as a pure vote since I like Marillion. And The Gathering.

NO, Derek, to my knowledge, did not use a real Hammond in the beginning of the FII tour, it was more like a Korg organ module like the vk7, I think it was a two keyboard or manual organ, and he switched to the vk7 because, he told me, that the vk7 was not as noisy as the Korg module. Lately I have been grabbing cd's right and left, but two that have stood out among these are Tape Head by Kings X and Still Life bye Fates Warning. First Tape Head. This is my first KX cd and man every track on this thing just rocks, even the slow stuff. Can anyone tell me if more of their stuff is like this? Next is Still Life. I got this because I read/heard that the live version of APSOG is better than the studio, which I don't have. All I can say is that it would sure be hard to be this version, it rulz. Plus the other songs are just great live.

Next on the 'to get list', Chroma Key, Gordion Knot and Clockwork

Actually, that song was in South Park. It was the episode where they had the football game and Richard Stamos came to sing "Loving You" and when he hit that high note, a bomb was supposed to blow up the mascot of the opposing team. And when they were making the bomb, they said it was an F#. Now I don't know how accurate South Park is, but whenever I hear that song, it's all I can think of.
