About the broken platypi, I'm of the opinion that it's Ty Tabor's
presence on the album that caused the little doohickey thingies to be
broken.....I just picked up "Moonflower Lane" last week (The album
King's X should have made after Faith Hope & Love!!!!!)(makes me even
more pissed to have missed the KX/GC show last week)(have i already
whined about that on this forum?). Anyway, the thingies were busted in
that CD case, too....
I firmly believe that when the time comes and I pick up Tape Head, they
will be broken within that, too....so I'm prepared, went to a used CD
store and weaseled a few jewel cases for myself while finally picking up
waiting for the punchline on CD....
speaking of which, can someone with a clue send me details about Nuno's
new solo album? inquiring minds, y'know?

Well, this would be impossible unless the chip can change the actual
laser. DVD uses a diferent laser light, blue laser to be exact. CD's
and burners use a red laser. So, in theory, what you were told, can't
work.

i thought the same thing. according to a july 98 article in SOS with her
sound engineers though, the ambient sounds on stage resonate off the lid
and soundboard and cause the mics to peg the meters from crowd noise
alone. so they decided to use samples instead during the band songs,
which, on second look, actually do come from the kurz. something to keep
in mind the next time you think about taking your bose out on the road :)

more importantly, i think, DVDs use a much smaller laser. i don't know
actual numbers (al? rogerio?) but i know it's much smaller. so yeah, the
combination of a smaller laser (meaning smaller and more "tightly wound"
tracks on the cd) and a higher wavelength are what allow DVDs to store so
much more info on the same size disc. so not only changing the wavelength,
which seems somewhat possible to someone like myself who doesn't know the
technical details (i'm sure there's some reason why you can't just change
the wavelength, like you need a different lens or something), the size of
the laser is much easier to be regarded as fixed. ya know? heh, all this
about stupid off-topic stuff. i shut up now, yes? yes. moo.

I thought the exact same thing, Graham. I went to the official Maiden website where they had the announcement, photos from a photo shoot, and a brief question and answer session with the band. Of course, they avoided any vital question such as the one that you and I have. It was all crap like "so how does it feel to be back together after all these years?"... typical bullshit stuff. However, in the most recent issue of Metal Edge, there was an interview with Bruce, well before all this new stuff went down, and the interviewer asked Bruce to address all the rumors flying around about his rejoining Maiden. Bruce said that the only way he would consider a reunion was if he would be allowed to also continue his solo career. He recognized the fact that his last 2 albums were great and that he would not want to jeopardize that for anything. I'm sure that in the wake of this huge news, we are going to see quite a few interviews with many of the members of Maiden, so I think we can be confident that these types of questions will be addressed. I just hope, also, that Steve is willing to give up some of his stranglehold on the band's songwriting process and let Bruce and Adrian have their input as well.
Here's to hoping that Maiden can recapture the magic of old...

Actually, I think he plays an actual piano on SDV. You can hear the sustain pedals while he is playing the intro. I also think that there is an actual piano in the liner notes of Awake.

LOL. That's the only tme I've ever heard him talk, too. He did say something on stage at the Philly christmas show, but he wasn't miked.
As for a good acoustic piano as well as electric keyboards, check out Vitalij Kuprij's 1st solo album, "High Definition," where they are both used.

Moon Bubbles is an instrumental which I believe is based on their Collins-era stuff. I've never heard of any song called Excellent. Speaking of unreleased DT; anybody ever heard of the song Allusion, a track left off of WDADU? I thought this was better than most of those songs. Great ballad-type song with a lot of hooks
