Well, as it turns out, a couple of weeks before the reunion was announced, a
friend of mine talked to someone in Canada who I believe does promotions for
Bruce's band...he was told by Bruce's manager, I believe, that there is no more
band...Bruce was taking off for England right away, I think to talk to Steve
Harris. I don't remember who exactly this came from, but I'm in touch with CMC
fairly often, and talk to promotions people regularly, so as far as I know this is
totally confirmed...sorry, no more DickinBruce. by the way, imagine how sick
Maiden will sound live, Adrian and Dave doing harmony leads...and Janick playing
rhythm guitar...perhaps they will gain some badly needed chunk during their
    leads. UP THE FUCKIN IRONS.

    Hey folks...

I got a few requests on IRC for a good sound quality version of Lost
Without You. I've put an mp3 up of the version from Birch Hill
6/9/95. This is the infamous Mercy Fuck show and is excellent sound
quality-wise. The URL for my page is in my .sig. Hope everyone enjoys!

Listen, who can tell me how to get rid of the two en-dashes at the top
of my sig? I'm using Netscape Messenger. Anyone? Anyone?

I spoke to JM briefly at the Vanderbilt show in L.I. I asked him
something about his chapman stick, I don't remember what. I just wanted
to hear him talk, really. He politely answered my question with
absolutely no indication that he was uncomfortable talking to me. It was
a nice little mini-conversation. In my experience, therefore, he is much
more outgoing than JP, who can be evasive. And it's not like JM is
totally passive onstage, either. He'll grimace and stuff. sometimes.

Furthermore, I think he adds a coolness to the image of the band.
    Mystic, perhaps.

It's amazing - there's a mainstream band that's actually *good* (no prog whatsoever) There is, however, a song in a time sig other than 4/4. OK, fine, it's a rather unimpressive 3/4, which I guess could equal 8/12 :)...

Whoever posted about the new Collective Soul album was right on the money. This album is freakin' brilliant. I'm listening to it for the second time as I type this. These guys keep getting better and better with every album. This just made my top ten of the year and possibly of all time. I'd type more, but it would distract me for listening. Later.

/Al is learning how to play "Also sprach Zarathustra" on the Swinette.

The Swinette is a simple musical instrument that was invented in 1971 by a poor Wisconsin farmer named Arnold Spambauer. Arnold discovered that a section of dried pig intestine stretched across a hockey stick made a very unique bow. The Swinettist sits in a 24" arm less chair, hooks five pubic hairs onto the toenails of his/her right foot and stretches them to the floor. The taught hairs are then bowed with the Swinette. A skilled Swinettist can make interesting pitch changes by wiggling the toes on the right foot in unison with the bowing action.

Any ideas? Erm...For much the same reason as using a sequencer live, I'd have thought. Tori's obviously not going to get in a second keyboard player (insert obvious-yet-hopefull DS crack here...), and she wants as much piano in there as possible. Well, let's face it - the rest of the band are so fucking timid that they may as well not be there. Personally, I'm voting for her next tour to include Matt Sorum on Drums and JP - or indeed, my good self - on guitar.

    > >while it is true that she used a kurzweil k2500XS and a K2500R on > >the plugged '98 tour, she did not use any of the built-in piano > >samples > Very true, but I never said that she used it for the piano stuff. As I'm talking crap, and I'd like to apologise. But then, so was the guy I was replying to, so I'm not going to beg for forgiveness, merely ask. Of course, Tori *did* use the Kurzy for playing "Bells For Her" and "Black Dove (January)" live, and - I suspect - for the latter in the studio. I still challenge anyone to take me on over Tori Amos (please!). And since she ain't on-line...

since you're in the UK, we'll let it go. He's a big (but apparently controversial) radio personality here in the US. Basically, I believe he has the largest audience, en total, of any other radio show in the US (except maybe for that ridiculous LoveLine crap). The only exposure you may have gotten to him was his movie Private Parts, but I don't know how big it was in Europe (probably not that big).

    > > the intro to The Mirror every once in a while since Awake came > AKA "Puppies On Acid" to everyone else on the 'Jam...

well, if you want to be technical about it, it's actually the intro the "The Mirror", since the clip is from the Awake album. I just hate being corrected... :)

This is a song that I've been working on for the past few days. It's a remix/medley/(tribute?) of several ideas from Dream Theater songs. I mixed it as a giant WAV file out of mostly loud and heavy parts of DT songs. So if loud and heavy is not your cup of tea, you might want to turn your speakers down. It's called "instruMENTAL" because it has no vocals. I could really use any feedback any has for me (preferably, nice feedback <wince>). I think this is the final version unless something makes me want to change it.

I'm sure there are plenty of you that will hate it just because it's not the original song. I'm sorry.

I need a web site that I can upload an MP3 I just made. It's about 8MB and my crappy AOL server only allows 2MB per screen name. Anyone know where I could temporarily get 8MB for this?
