Also, his band blows goats. I saw 'em this summer at the 'Greaseman Jam'
near Manassas. Mostly he walked around the stage with a cigar in his
mouth, but on the 'important bits', he'd come over to the mic and talk/sing.

The festival featured (aside from the Greaseman Band Ingus) John "Dr.
Dirty" Valby (who's repetoire is 100% bodily function related and funny
for...a couple of minutes at least, maybe three), Nils Lofgren (great
guitarist, real underrated -- and his voice is 80% Geddy Lee 20% Bob
Dylan), and the main attraction (and real reason I went), the always
    awesome Jethro Tull.

    But I'm rambling...

Fellow Jammers and especially Jim Shields-
Ozric Tentacles is a great band. They are space rock, they are
progressive rock, they are keyboard reggae dub, they are acid rock, they are
    AWESOME.
Fellow jammer DavID Plotkin is in mad frenetic love with Ozrics, and
I'm sure he'll post a few words about the band. I have many of their CD's,
but lack a few still. Good suggestion for purchase might be the more
readily available Arborescence, or if you can find it, Erpland, or Strangeitude.
            Dave, take this one over!!

Don't know if you've read it or if someone's already posted it, but Q
Magazine (the next most influential, and wide-spread, music mag in the
world, after RS) has a review of DT's OiaLT in their january or february
issue (with Garbage's Shirley Manson on the cover). The album gets a fairly
positive review and three (out of five) stars. This is remarkable IMO. A
good review in the context of a mainstream magazine. If you want me to type
it in, tell me so and I'll do it sometime this week and post it to the jam.

Hey, I'm the dude that flamed IceQD, saying something about her acting like a primate with a mollusc's intelligence...anyway, it seems Craig thinks I was talking about Ice and Doc and maybe even Skadz...I wasn't. I was talking about Tweetle Dumb and Tweetle even Dumber, Fire & Ice. Anyway I won't post anymore negativity about them, promise. I am well aware that Doc and Skadz don't act like Fire and
Ice. Why would I criticize the Doc, he's the one that made that brilliant comment about their bubble of retardation or something. I totally agree with Doc. Anyway whatever, it doesn't seem we'll ever be rid of those two, I just hope they do something to get themselves kicked off...or like I was thinking, they should unsub since not many people seem to be interested in anything they have to say.

Now, I am asking the jammers for some help in a matter...you all know the John Solo photo...I remember seeing it in a Guitar World (or School?), it was an Awake-era interview, and I'm pretty sure JP was talking about how they recorded the guitars for Caught in a Web....anyway it was a really cool article, and I would like to read it again. Does anyone have it that would be willing to make me a
photocopy, or better yet does anyone have it online? Also, I'm wondering if anyone out there has Cynic demos...I have the Roadrunner demo and the demo before that (the one with Thinking Being, Cruel Gentility, and another song)....problem is the recording I got has the right channel only. Anyone have a good recording of those that would be willing to dub me a copy or something? In return, what I
wanted to do was put them on a CD (the sound quality won't be that great of course but fuck it, just to have em on CD would be cool), and also I was going to put on the Burning Inside demo (for those that don't know, this is Richard Christy's band, he's on drums for Death now)...anyway in return I'd of course send whoever it is a copy of the CD when it's done. So if any of you jammers can help me, it
would be really cool. All right, talk to you all later. By the way any jammers going to the March Metal Meltdown in NJ? Some great bands will be there, such as Amorphis and Iced Earth (check it out:
http://thesyn.com/metal/general/marchmetalmeltdown.htm), I'm going so any jammers that want to meet up...cool. Later.

Well, yes. I use DOS. :) Since MP3 is a headerless format you can simply
tack 'em together end-to-end using "copy /b" just like you would text
    files. Like this:

    copy /b song1.mp3 + song2.mp3 + song3.mp3 bigfile.mp3

where bigfile.mp3 is the name of the huge "tacked together" file you'll
    end up with.

It's perfect for live shows - for example, my Pearl Jam 3-5-98 Melbourne
show is one whopping 112MB file.

    Lying bleeding in the dark,

    Duffel

You can also buy a copy of "Break" with bonus track from the Laser's Edge for $15. Though my copy I ordered from LE a couple weeks ago isn't a promo copy or anything. But it does have the bonus track and comes in this cardboard sleeve.

Sorry to keep posting this to the jam but atleast it has something to do with 3 members of DT.

Well, I decided to add Another Dimension from the Roxy to the end of the video I am working on. It still has the distortion (actually this song was the most distorted of the whole video) but it is just such an AMAZING song that I had to put it on. I had a little bit of blank space at the end so I figured a distorted audio Another Dimension live video is better than blank space. If you can't handle the distortion on the audio, you can always hit stop after Acid Rain. Worst case scenario, you can atleast watch it once.

That leaves the Roxy video section only missing Paradigm Shift (already on the LTE NAMM section) and Kindred Spirits from the original "tape" offer. And to top it off, you get the Rudess Morgenstein NAMM performance as well.

I think that even though the Roxy section had some rough parts (video/audio wise - definitely not performance wise) you will still enjoy the tape as a whole a great deal. And if you are a guitarist wondering exactly how Petrucci played that "one part", then you will love the closeups on his guitar.

And if you have already set up a trade with me, you should expect to see the YOUR video tape in the near future. If you have sent in an email and haven't heard back from me, don't worry. I will respond to each and every email eventually.

    Hey,

Yeah these guys are very cool, I first heard them back in about 1990 I think. Get "Strangitude" - everyone needs this in their collection.

I bought Rush - Different Stages at the weekend, I don't often buy Rush but I have "Exit Stage Left" and "A Show Of Hands" and I thought the next live album would be a good addition. I've only heard it once but I have no complaints so far... Something quite funny though - I got my daughter the Brittany Spears album (yeah it's awful, but she likes that girly-pop stuff), at the same time and my 4-year old son got incredibly stressed when we turned Rush off and put Brittany on, "I want Daddy's music!" he screamed - I was so proud <sniff>...

Dave (a UK jammer - now in Alabama).
