Did anyone catch the DT article in the latest issue of Metal Edge mag?
Basically it talked about the releases of 5YIAL and OIAL. I was wondering =
    why
it didn't include any info on Jordan joining the band...
Anyway it was cool to see DT in a mag...

Actually if youread the Metal Wire, it says that DT had changed keyboardists
but it was too close to press time to put any additional information.

Write Eve6 off now, their songs are just plain irritating. The Flys aren't
bad though. Of course I've only heard the one song (and a bootlegged cover
of Crazy Train that's pretty cool).

The only other radio hit I know of theirs is Underground. I liked them the
first few times I listened to their album, but the more I listen to it the
more it fills me with the urge to defecate ("Go on Judge..."). Kind of the
    opposite of most prog albums.

BTW, what's Chris DeGarmo up to these days? He would make a decent 2nd for
DT. And having heard the new QR samples it would appear he's not the one
responsible for their shitty last album. Or maybe swipe Alex Lifeson from
Rush for a few months. I'd love to hear JP with another guitarist (more
guitars MORE MORE MORE!!!!!!). I don't see Vai or Satriani as backup
guitarists though. Just listen to the end of the G3 album. When they have
to share the lead it sounds like hell. Nuno would be awesome though. And
    he can sing...

Because some magazines- ESPECIALLY Metal Edge, (although it's still one of
the only kickass rock mags out there) have a serious lag time between the time
they get printed, and the time they finally released to the public. Sometimes
Metal Edge is up to 3 months behind in current events, so when that issue was
printed, Jordan probably wasn't even a member yet. For example, there was an
interview w/ Motley Crue talking about how excited they were about their
greatest hits album that was coming out in a few weeks, but at the time I read
it (right when the issue came out), the album had already been out for over a
    month.
It's kind of a pain, but like I said, they're the only good major rock
    magazine left these days.

Ah, I'm not too sure about this one, Mosh. As far as I know, DT _did_
sell out the HoB, since one time I went with two extra tickets and sold
them pronto for well over cost (no, I'm not a scalper, just paying for
gas to drive down from Santa Barbara). Why would ravenous fans gladly
scoop up the tix from me when they could go to the window and not even
have to deal with the "bend-me-over" Tickbastard charge? My impression
was that DT did very well at the HoB both times I've seen them there:
if they didn't sell out, they came close.

DT does NOT need more guitars!!!!!!! JP is incredible alone. Vai &
Satriani are ALL effects. I SUCK on the guitar, BUT I can sound like
Vai or Satriani with 20 effect rack AND about 15 foot pedals. Hit one
note & it sounds like Bach or Mozart. ANYBODY can use effects, but JP
is just GREAT! Probably my fav guitarist.

Any bass players out there have any clue why it is that we just can't hear JM most of the time? I can barely hear the guy. Sure, he'll be audible on most of the songs for which he wrote the lyrics, but what's up the rest of the time? Is that a common thing for bass players to be barely audible? Maybe, I just need a real stereo or a bass unit for my little bookshelf system.

Pardon me, but In Flames is Death Metal, Melodic Death Metal.

You seem to like "Whoracle" a bit, right? Then, you should definitely check "The Jester Race". Not only in my opinion, "Whoracle" is the second coming of "The Jester Race".

BTW, one of the most entertaining aspects of In Flames is that their lyrics actually say something and they're usually refletions about the structure of the society and social relationships.

It's nice to listen to bands in heavy metal that don't use the clich=E9s of any kind of tales.

Ok here's the deal on probably one of the BEST songs CONCEPTION ever wrote that very few fans know about. The amazing song "Black on Black" was a Japanese bonus track for the "Power of Metal" live 2-disc set on Noise Records which featured 4 bands (GAMMA RAY, RAGE, CONCEPTION, and HELICON)....GR and RAGE took up most of the discs while CONCEPTION and HELICON had about 3-4 songs each.

Even though the lyrics for "Black on Black" are in the booklet the song has only appeared on that live compilation as far as I know. But.....WHAT A SONG IT IS!!! The only way I know is because a friend from Brazil sent me the song on tape and I was FLOORED!!! This song is EASILY one of CONEPTION's most amazing compositions and its a damn shame more people haven't heard it. Throughout the whole song there are acoustic and electric doubled leads/riffs, etc....its the acoustic guitar interplay that makes this song just EXPLODE right from the first glorious second down to the last.

I can't understand how they could make this song a bonus track....It could have been the TITLE track it's that good! ahhhhh...now I have to find that tape and hunt down "Black on Black" because I'm drooling just thinking about it.....what a gem.

    hope that helped :)

    cheers, Carlo (Fates)
