as far as Yes goes.. you gotta buy Close To The Edge, Relayer, Fragile,
or The Yes Album.. any one of those is good to start with..
i'm not too familiar with marillion personally so i can't help you
    there.

The first one is anyone's guess.

The second one is too vague to know for sure, but damn if you didn't just
perfectly describe Aquarium Rescue Unit. Jeff Sipe on drums (SICK), Jimmy
Herring on guitars (SICK) and O'Teil Burbridge on bass (SICK!) with a great
vocalist, and some organs, wind instruments, mandolins, and percussion etc.
All of their albums are good, but In a Perfect World is their best (with
their best singer) and the live album is the second best (Fear Col. Bruce
Hampton though... what a wretched voice!)

aye, resurection and timelessness are a kickass way to end the cd, which i
believe is aconcept album, yes? a story about some kind of future where
machines have taken over, and the humans are fighting back... i haven't
read all the lyrics but that's what i've gleamed from listening.

    > HUGE step forward from Demanufacture, which is still a pretty badass CD in

yeah, even after i had Obsolete for a while I still liked demanufacture
more, cuz it has all the wicked fast double bass and stuff, but once i got
past that (and realized that it sorta makes all of demanufacture sound the
same - slightly), i realized just how much Obsolete kicks ass. moo.

    Hey folks...

New, full shows available in mp3 format. It's the 6/9/95 show from Birch Hill in New Jersey. It features the (in)famous "Mercy Fuck" version of A Change of Seasons. Also included is an early instrumental version of Raise the Knife (originally named Showdown). Other highlights include a strong "Lines in the Sand" influence to Derek's keys solo and "Eruption" by Van Halen played in that same solo.

The best place to get this show is on Bogie's Lines in the Sand site. (http://dreamtheater.mit.edu) You can also grab this on my website (URL in the signature) in case you have a problem at LITS. Bogie has also added the full The Dance of Eternity boot (including the original ACOS) and we'll be getting new shows up periodically. These are great shows to add to any collection, so get on one of those sites and start leeching! :)

NOTE: My email address is changing to alpine1@mindspring.com. If anyone needs to get in touch with me from now on, please use that address. My web address has also been updated accordingly. Thanks!

    Take care all...

yeah, man! Sounding like a broken record here. Ya gotta check them out live too and that will make you even more nuts. :) I have the 'Resurrection' video at my site if you wanna check it out. Dave McKean also helped out in putting that together as well as the CD cover art.

Hmm. Mike may have only noticed that time, but I know that there was at least one more. Does anyone remember being at the Summer 1993 (I believe the date was June 23) show at the Pier 6 concert Pavilion in Baltimore MD? As they played the end of Learning to Live, the whole audience was singing the "oh"s at the end of the song, and there was James pointing the mic out at the crowd. I remember it vividly. Does anyone else?

The audience singing that part on the live album sounds so cool I wish the band would have played that progression a few more times before going into ACoS. The fadeout on that song is so good. A few more times might have captured the spirit a little more.

I can't be bothered to quote it, but Chris Bernard shot someone down for suggesting that Metallica were a 90s band by saying that they started in the 80s. He then proceeded to explain how the 80s were good for music, and listed Rush as an example. Ummm..... WTF?

I have it. It's in an 'instructional' book that Guitar World released. It features lessons from a dozen guitarplayers including Vai, Johnson, VanHalen, Hammet, Gibbons, Gilbert.. and the list goes on (no JP though). I'm willing to part with it for a small compensation cause I started playing 6string bass recently and I'm selling a ton of guitar TAB books. Anyone interested in official TAB books of Satch/Vai/VanHalen/Malmsteen/etc.? Email me and we'll work something out. I'm also willing to trade for some quality bass lessons (TAB/video).

I just couldnt bear to type the word "lastingness". Anyway, I would not list 311 in an argument tryinmg to prove that the 90's were a good time for music. I don't think Nirvana belongs in there either. I'm sure there are many jammers who rejoices when Kurt Cobain died. I hopped on the bandwagon when Nirvana became the next big thing, and bought a tape of "Nevermind" (no CD player for me back then). I hated it so much, I never listened to the rest of side 2 of the tape. True, I occasionally like to hear "Smells Like Teen Spirit" or one of their other popular songs, just for kicks, but after being in Guitar Denter so much and having to listen to every single 12 year old wannabe guitarist on the planet pick up a sweet guitar and play "Polly", it gets old. Im glad someone mentioned Depeche Mode. It's hard telling people that your other favorite band (besides DT) is Depeche Mode. They've been around for close to 20 years now, and better than ever. I saw them over Christmas, and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. It was so great that I was crying tears of joy by the end of the show, as was the person I went with. Hope DT are still going strong like this in 10 years. Anyway, just my opinion.

BOOST YOUR WEB SITE'S TRAFFIC--GET LISTED ON YAHOO!

If your not listed in Yahoo's index of website's, your missing out on the largest source of traffic on the internet today!

Numerous studies show that 42% of all Internet traffic and 70% of all business to business traffic is generated from Yahoo!

Getting your site listed on Yahoo is without question the single most important thing you can do to promote your Web site. It should be your ONLY concern until it happens.

Nothing else will give you the return on your efforts that a good Yahoo! listing will.

We've helped hundreds of clients not only get their site into the Yahoo! index, but into a very prominent place within that index.

We can do the same for you.

For some of our clients, their Yahoo! listing is the only type of Internet advertising they have done. Some of these clients now get over 20,000 hits per day and do well over $100,000 in sales per month.

Yahoo currently rejects over 90% of the submissions they get. The submission process is rather complex and the choices you make here will SIGNIFICANTLY impact your chances of getting accepted.

If you've already been rejected - don't despair - we've gotten many clients into Yahoo's index even after they've been rejected.

Every site that gets accepted into this prized directory is looked over by a "Yahoo Editor." The first step is getting one of these already over-worked editors to even look at your site.

We'll explain the secrets to getting your site looked at.

The next thing you have to do is get into the editor's mind to understand what he will be looking for so that your website gets listed.

We've seen hundreds of Yahoo rejection letters and know why they reject sites.

We offer an information-packed "Getting Listed On Yahoo Report" that will tell you exactly what these editors will be looking for when they evaluate your site. You can learn from hundreds of other people's mistakes so that you won't make them when submitting or resubmitting your site.

Here's what's covered in the report:

<> A general overview of Yahoo and how it works

<> The technical details of what they look for

<> What SPECIFIC types of content you MUST have

<> What NEVER to do before submitting to Yahoo

<> Why looking at your competitors is so important before submitting

<> The specifics of how to submit properly and increase your chances - one of these secrets alone is worth the price of the report!

If you're thinking of submitting your site to Yahoo or have already tried and failed - PUT EVERY POSSIBLE ADVANTAGE ON YOUR SIDE.

Let us help you DRAMATICALLY increase your chances of sucess. Yahoo is worth the extra effort.
