    A quick addendum:

    > Hehehe. "Brian" <= "scrambled brain." You fight logic with nonsense.
    > Your inflated head bears no resemblance to Rossane's fat, bloated ass,
    > but I do believe a few comparisons can be drawn between the two. It's
    > sad that if you opened your mind for a moment, you'd drown in your own
    > fecies.

Just wanted to point out that if anyone is going to be accused of slinging
"nonsense" around, talking about "Rossane's fat, bloated ass" and the
subsequent empty rhetoric must obviously qualify.

First off, I'm new to the list. I'm Chris and have been a DT fan since
WDADU came out. I've been converting others to them for almost as long. :
) I've known about this list for several years, but just recently got a
computer so I'm finally able to talk to other DT fans. I'm 27, a
guitarist, and listen to a wide variety of music. I realize most of this
stuff is unimportant to the list, but I'm getting to that. I just like to
let people know a little about me, I guess. I finally bought a copy of
OIALT, and loved it. I just orderd FII, so I can't wait to hear it. I've
been out of the loop for a while, but now that I have Internet access, I'll
know what's going on!! I've noticed some arguments about "who's better
than who" about present and past members of DT. IMHO, who cares who's in
the band, as long as they continue to release the caliber of music they
have become known for. With my experience with playing in bands, change
can usually be good. BTW, I'm not trying to get any thread about this
topic started, I just know that from another list I was on years ago, there
was a very similar debate (it was a KISS list.) I just know that those
kind of threads get no where. Opinions are like assholes. Everyone's got
one and thinks everyone else's stinks!! : ) Anyway, I just love their
music, and as long as they don't suck, I'll still buy them. That's all for
    now. I'm sure I'll throw in my 2 cents every-once-in-a-while! : )

    Chris Martin

Oh yeah, since everyone was talking about the new music they had bought,
along with the above CD's, I recently got Rush- "Different Stages" (the '78
disc was worth the price IMHO), Pantera- "101 Proof Official Live" (fucking
awesome, as usual), KISS "Creatures of the Night" remastered and Ace
Frehley's "Loaded Deck" (I'm a huge KISS fan, so of course I loved these
CD's). The only "new" CD I've heard was the Goo Goo Dolls "A Boy Named Goo"
(my wife bought it.) It was O.K., but it sounded a lot like White Lion!!
Also ordered LATM and Zappa's "200 Motels"! (Gotta love Worker's Comp!!!)

    Hi all,
Our beloved Mike's new LTE drumkit features 1 bass drum (with double pedal
of course), his old LP timbalitos as first and second toms, a 13" tom, 16"
floor tom and a 14" tom on his left side. All the drums are from his old
Tama Imperialstar setup with the DT logo finish. Also there are LP "Jam
block" and "Blast block" on the pictures of the LTE shows, but I haven't
heard a sound from them on the LTA show (thanx, Bogie). The second
interesting thing is his front bass drum head, which is an "Aquarian". I
thought Mike uses only Remo and has an endorsement...
At least this is what I can see on the pics...

man, that sounds like the kind of place I'd like to work, if ever i
decided to become a tour guide......

you'll be amazed, though, how many people protest when you try to
express that sentiment whether in person or in print.....i've tried
both, and it wasn't too pretty, the way people tried to proclaim their
absolute even-mindedness, bringing up "facts" like "I have so many
    (insert different race here) friends."

Music is certainly no different -- i'm sure some of you have come across
people who claim tolerance of "black" music through listening to Living
Colour, or Prince. What the museum's doors, and what Amanda said are
totally correct -- we all have a set of prejudices absolutely coloring
how we look at everything, including how we feel about what is "popular"
    or "mainstream".

And too often, we find it all too easy to dismiss that which we don't
like, without "fair" consideration of its merits. The mass denials of
such prejudices, followed immediately by general dismissals of entire
genres is probably the single most aggravating thing about the people
and posts made to this here forum.........

    Hi eveyone,

Here are some more info about the Dream Theater tribure CD by Energie records.
I don't really care if you belive me or not, but all thses are facts:

Months ago, I've got an email from a guy at Energie records.
He told me that, they plan to release a couple of tribute CD's like U2, Queen,
Metallica and ... The guy said, that he's a die hard Dream Theater fan and
he would like to do also a Dream Theater tribute !
He was searching for quite unknown bands who were influenced by DT.
Through internet (searching for DT influened bands) , he comes to EMPTY TREMOR
and my email address and the rest is history.

Why these bands ? Well, because they aren't to expensive to pay !
Another idea is that the Tribute CD will be 2 CD set for a single CD price.
On Disc 2, each band will choose one of their own songs which is representative
for their style. Sure, this fact should also help each band growing their fan base.

Anyway for disc 1, so far we have :

EVIL WINGS (Italy) "A fortune in lies"
    AZTEC JADE (USA) "Another day"
    OVERLIFE (Spain) "Metropolis Part I"
    ACCOMPLICE (USA) "Pull me under"
DRAMA (Norway) "Lifting shadows off a dream"
MOON OF STEEL (Italy) "You not me"
    CMKY (Italy) "Surrounded"
EMPTY TREMOR (Italy) "Medley: Take the time/Under a glass moon/A change of season / Learning to live"
ELEVENTH HOUR (USA) "Learning to live

There is more to come ...

P.S. Soon or later, a bigger lable like Magna Carta or Metal Blade will release another
Dream Theater tribute. It's all about money, not ..

    = hate?

"I wanna fuck you like an animal"
"I wanna feel you from the inside"
". . . You bring me closer to God"

Sounds like a LOVE song to me!

Sorry, Brian, but have you actually fucked anyone? Ever really get into it,
and feel like your whole reason for being is embodied in your dick? Ever
rock your baby like your back ain't got no bone? (Apologies to Bonnie
Raitt, John Lee Hooker, et al). Ever lose your self in the raw, animal lust
of hot, sweaty sex until you finally explode in orgasmic pleasure????

    Me neither . . . ;^)

hehe - I just had to do that!

But seriously, I love those lyrics and fail to see where the "visceral hate"
comes in. I know "Fuck you" isn't exactly a term of endearment, but IMO "I
wanna fuck you like an animal" would be a compliment that a lot of women
would love to hear (in the right context, of course!)

Just my opinion; I could be wrong.

And now for something completely different . . . Has anyone heard the Doug
Pinnick solo album "Poundhound"?? Columbia House has it, and they're
running a "Buy 1, get 2 free" deal. I'll prolly get it anyway, but I just
wondered if any of you had heard it yet. Comments?

In retrospect, the charm of the whole proclamation was rather pointed. The
conclusion that I drew from the comparison between Rosanne's flatulant
buttocks and your cranial cavity was that both were extremely capable of
spouting excrement in extreme amounts. Hence, should you open up you mind,
you would drown in your own fecies... However, much of that was written in
simile and should not be taken literally. The mere imagery of the literal
translation does not bode well upon one's digestion. The reference by which
I'd stated your head spouts shit is what my English instructor would
pronounce as "verbiage," or verbal garbage.

At once you complain that the lyrics have no depth, then when offered an
example of how your selection of lyrical content which you are attacking ("I
want to fuck you like an animal") is completely inconclusive as to the
content of the song AND you were offered an example of how your evidence is
inconclusive, you assume the fetal position and refuse to comprehend how any
person supposedly lesser than youself can convey incredible meaning from the
text contained within said song. Therefore proving, at that juncture, due
to your complete hesitance to relent your previous attack, that you were
indeed only complaining of your own lack of perception with no particular
mindset to accept that it is a worthwhile complement to many an intelligent
    person's daily musical diet.

The prosecution rests, Worm, Your Honor.

You seem to know as much of Nine Inch Nails as of alchemy. You know they both exist and have read a couple of lines on both subjects. Damn, Reznor has released under the name of Nine Inch Nails quite many albums, yet every MTV watching dude only remembers one tune - "Animal".

Remember when somebody accused Peter Steele of penning stupid lyrics, only because the accuser had only heard the song "Kill All The White People" and possibly couldn't grasp the point of the song anyway. (Okay, he was quickly quieted down by some excessive third party Type O quoting.)

Hell, if we started to judge Dream Theater (*) by only one line in one of their songs, what would we get if the line was "under the sun there's nothing to hide"? I don't even wanna imagine the dude on the beach, who's going around and showing everyone what he's got underneath that overcoat. :-)

So, in short, I used to hate NIN and Reznor's guts, but that used to be the case with Depeche Mode as well... And now they both rock like nothing else.

And what did I write this for? :-)

    (*) - Dream Theater content.

A double cd set will be manufactured in a De-Luxe Artwork presentation (Digipacks with 16 pages full colour booklets), disc 1: each selected band will perform their interpretation of a selected DT song, disc 2: each selected band will perform one song from their own production. The scheduled release date is mid April and the planned DT covers as I know:

EVIL WINGS (Italy) - A Fortune In Lies AZTEC JADE (USA) - Another Day OVERLIFE (Spain) - Metropolis ACCOMPLICE (USA) - Pull Me Under DRAMA (Finland) - Lifting Shadows Off A Dream MOON OF STEEL (Italy) - You Not Me CMKY (Italy) - Surrounded EMPTY TREMOR (Italy) - Medley ELEVENTH HOUR (USA) - Learning To Live

Maybe our band (Serenity from Hungary) will be also on the cd with Awake medley, but not because we need a fan base of DT and not because of "money". I just have to mention that the record label can't even pay our studio recording, so it's all fun for us. Otherwise it's not obligatory to buy that record. :)

    Cheers, Bungle
