to serialism or 12 tone music.

Well, trying to catch ip on some backlogged 'jams, so don't know if this was posted, but Van Halen just released an Internet only video clip for Once. It can be found at www.van-halen.com, www.vhnd.com, plus a few other mirrors listed on either of these sites... Know that there are alot of old-time VH fans here... They have it in a few differnt formats, MOV, AVI, RAM, etc. The AVIs and MOVs are about 25MB, though...

That natural reflex is an instinct....

That's because survival in the wild isn't a human instinct...human babies are born virtually helpless and need to be taught to survive....which is why humans have instictively high learning capabilities at such young ages....

Human's, just like every other animal, are born with insticts that via some evolutionary process are suited to the circumstances of their environment - ie "sucking a tit" as somebody eloquently put it :)

Not particularly sorry about the non DT content...because I happen to think that is one of the great things about this list! :)

    Cheers

I happen to be in the first camp, but both camps have plenty of members. Your mileage may vary. ><

I think he's an average prog singer with many annoying tendancies in a band that would be better without him, but still is a decent band and no more.

    Hi again,

I'm relocating to the Bay Area in February for a new job and was wondering if any of you jammers might give me a few hints or help me out to find my ways around.. Most probably I'll be looking for an apartment in Mountain View or Palo Alto. So it would be greatly appreciated if you'd e-mail me some life-saving infos like good CD-shops, coffee-shops, bars that play good music etc. If you are asking yourself: who is this guy and why should I help him? I'm a longtime ytsejammer (been here since digest #570, although mostly lurking), who lives currently near Munich, Germany. Also, if you'd like to know more about me, check out my homepage at http://www.wazoo.muc.de/

Please answer to this in private e-mail only, any information will be highly appreciated. Looking forward to hearing from you, maybe I'll meet some of you soon... Thanks to all of you, take care - Andreas "jerry" Schaefer.

    Hi y'all

I'm not sure if I should be proud or worried about my bank account.. I own 27 of the CDs on Neil's poll, 21 of the first 27 entries to be exact. Does this make me the average ytsejammer? And how is the average ytsejammer? Like John "shred" Doe who owns 746.45 CDs, attended 4.3 DT shows, has 0.7 kids and 0.4 ex-wifes? Maybe Neil should do another poll with the population statistics of this mailing list..

so much for this post, now for another first: 2 posts to the 'yam on one day.. jerry :--)

To me, thats part of the unique >>experience we get as DT fans, new arrangements, rare songs, etc. I truly believe that >>DT does this for there fans to enjoy, why then, do these "die-hard" fans have to ruin >>it for everyone else.

Sorry to waste a little space with copying so much of the message above, but I was at this show too, and I've been to 5 or 6 other DT shows and have seen this everytime. I have to agree with this guy completely. There's nothing wrong with singing even the whole concert, but at least back off your volume a little. Ever heard Another Day, trying to enjoy the song, thinking "I can't wait to hear him go for the high note" or whatever, and instead you hear it in stereo with some dude screaming a half step off and still cracking, right in your ear? I don't know- it kinda loses the intamacy there. And I also agree with the song intro thing like Lifting Shadows- don't you hate when you're about to go see a movie and someone tells you the ending when you didn't want to know? I go to concerts to enjoy them, not to throw down and compete. This hopefully isn't taken defensively, as it's not an argumentitively geared thing. Just be cool, that's all (for all those who think this applies to them). Rock on.
