"please ignore ayame yuki's last post" ? geez matt/ quit bitching about it. i
TRIED to help you, and all of my teachers have been right handed except for
one ( he got deported ), and playing left handed is hard for me, but not for
you. get over it and all i did was offer a TINY bit of help from what ive
    learned about that hand technique. oh yeah..and the 1234 4321 1434 2434 is a
better excercise to increase hand strength. the fastest ive heard is 160 from
a friend of mine who just recently recieved a scholarship to Interlochen. all
i suggest now is just relax, and re build up to your current tempo..wasnt it
    180 to 204 ? somewhere in the "flaminco" area ? :)

smile more, and dont ever ignore my tips. ive played 4 year longer, doesnt
mean im better though. and dont start bitching about it. im just offering
tips, take your frustrations out on your own guitar. that way you can
    practice.

matt's just mad that im a righty. excuse me if i majorly sucked as a lefty,
cant help that i broke my wrist about 5 times since quiting violin and
starting on viola. ( you dont wanna know how "stilting" it feels to have a
pointy horsehair bow rammed into the palm of your hand 3 times ). had a great
time spending 2 hours getting out the splinters. but im still a righty ( with
a cool ace bandage ), who can play either way..lefty or righty. enough of this
matt, i still think you can play guitar how ever you wanna. ( try playing with
your teeth...or chin ( if you have a bass on your hands ) ). i got that tip
from a guitarist in an awful prog band that sufaced at school. ( sounds like
metallica trying to play dave matthews band, but thats my opinion and that
    THEY SUCK! ).

how can 4 small drums be worth almost the same as a 6-piece drumset? was the price we were quoted way too high, or is there something i don't know about octobans that makes it worth the money? moo.

Possibly the type of wood used to make them. Thats my best guess. Tell your brother MAIL ORDER!

I read at Hardradio that ANGRA has been picked up by Century Media and will release Fireworks, Holy land, ANgels Cry and the EPs. For those who don't understand, this means US distribution and no more import prices.

I just read a review that said the new Metal Blade band DREAMCHILD kicks ass. I had read a reivew a few years ago which said their demo kicked ass. Reviews anyone??

A picked up IN FLAMES "whoracle" which kicks lots of ass heard 'Subteranean' which KICKS ASS. For those who are starting to get bored of traditional power metal get Subteranean or any IN FLAMES album. Heavy melodic riffing and awesome melodies combined with heavier close to black-metal esque vocals. no US bands can write music like this, that is for sure.

    Hey everybody!

First of all, I went to four of the five DT shows. Overall, I drove around 4000 miles roundtrip from Dallas to see these masters in action. I almost died a few times driving on ice on the way up =) and the trip itself was physically exhausting, but geez was it ever worth it.

I got those four shows on tape (Birch Hill, Philadelphia, Irving Plaza, Poughkeepsie) and they all sound excellent. I've only had time to put one song onto MP3. I chose to let you all hear "Different Strings" from the Philly show, as I and a lot of others here on the list are Rush fans. I didn't modify it from the DAT except for amplifying it a tad, and the sound quality still is incredible. It's at the Scarred URL below. Enjoy!

Also, "The Rudess Experiment" has been shipping for about a week now. I've gotten a handful of e-mail compliments on it so far, one person even saying it can be considered one of the top five DT bootlegs ever! I'd have to agree.. it's that good. For those of you not in the know about this title, it's a soundboard recording of the special show back in '94 when Jordan Rudess filled in as interim keyboard player (the only time he did). The bonus tracks are really cool as well, including the what was supposed to be the last Nightmare Cinema performance in San Antonio. I'm feeling pretty priveleged to say that I've seen three most recent NC performances in person. I've gotta be the only one who can say that. =) Every time I see them do NC I marvel at Derek's talent on the guitar.

I've been busy moving back to college, but once I get settled in I will collaborate with Nick Bogovich to produce the "5 Days in a LIVEtime" compilation set. If we combined our recordings then that title will be guaranteed to have the best quality schtuff on it. I have yet to get back to you, Bogie, but I'm comin'.. =) Anyway, that's the great thing about having three tapers attending those concerts. It helps to fill in all the gaps.. I couldn't go to the Toad's show, and Nick's mics conked out, but John Dibella got it all. Then I think Nick couldn't make it to Poughkeepsie, but I got that one. I was frisked at Poughkeepsie, and my camera was taken up, so it's a little bit of a miracle that I got that one on tape. =)

Anyways, it's 5:00AM, so I'm needin' some sleep. Enjoy the sound clip, and take care, everybody!

Wow, sounds promising.... I'll be seeing them next wednesday... Any other Belgian/Dutch/French/German jammers go to the concert in the Spirit of 66 in Verviers (Belgium)? Maybe we can meet or something...

As to Andre's voice.. the first time I heard him, I was surprised, because he does have a quite remarkable voice and singing technique... but now I realize that I cannot imagine Angra with another singer. Angra's sound is so much defined by Andre's voice (not to speak of his magistral arrangements)...
