You forgot the Beasty Boys and Snoop Doggy Dog. I think that The Red

That must be the new one. How is it compared to their last disc?

Not only that... the RIAA always wants to raise prices for CD's, even though
the production cost of a single is close to NIL these days... I can
understand artists getting more royalties... but I don't support the price
gouging of the record companies... not only that... why don't they give
    artists more royalties?

Hopefully widespread infestation of MP3's will drive CD prices down...
because, if we have the mp3s... what's the incentive to buy a CD?? Hell..
I'll just decode the damn thing and burn my own CDs...

It's not like that, but let's be honest- a lot of people do that. I personally think it's sad that bands like the Goo Goo Dolls really aren't being listened to, they're being manufactured. They're a good band and I have to wonder if the people who rave the loudest about their music really listen to it since they only seem to rave about the same two songs. But that's just my view on things.

In response to people complaining that DT/LTE hasn't been to their city or country in quite awhile (or ever):

"Some of you lot are you some damned selfish and self centred, "

If taken the wrong way. I just take the complaints as exaggerations aimed at the band saying "hey, if you aren't touring my city because of lack of interest - I'm letting you know there is interest"

I haven't read all of them. Some complaints may have been rude, but I'm sure any "demands" to tour "my" city is just a creative way to BEG for DT to consider their city as a possible place to include on any upcoming tours.

I'm sure everyone realizes how hard the DT guys tour, record, and work on side projects. Quite frankly, I don't see how DT is going to be ready for the studio after every single member has been involved in MANY side projects that have already tapped their creative well. If I was in DT, I'd just record the FII "rejects" and Metropolis Part 2 and take it "easy" while giving the fans what most want.

Just a quick list of some of my favourite bass players (in no particular order except for Jamerson)

James Jamerson, Jaco Pastorius, Francis Rocco Prestia, John Paul Jones, John Entwistle, Paul McCartney, Percy Jones, Gary Willis

Out of the newer players, I really dig Stewart Zender and P-Nut

A lot of my favourite bass players aren't necessarily in the metal or prog rock genre because in these genres the bass is often condemned to doubling guitar lines, rather than playing with the drums. That doesn't mean that there aren't many great bass players in metal, it's just that they don't often get to show their wares.

Ok this is the very reason I prefer to lurk. The rest of this post will be used to defend myself so if you don't care move along.

I was merely dissapointed that LTE will not be playing in the mid-west. I know that Chicago is very good to DT and Tony Levin has said that he loves to play there. Now all you fuckers jump down my throat for being selfish. Which I am not. If I was selfish I wouldn't bother to drive out of town to 3 differant cities to see DT. For those of you that have money burning holes in your pocket and have the luxury of flying to see them thats fuckin great I'm very happy for you. There are those of us that either don't have the cash or are too young and the powers that be (Mom and Dad) wouldn't let them fly cross country for a show. In closing I would like to say GET THE FUCK OFF OF MY BACK! Juli

Of course they do, b/c they know the American public will pay it. Any why not??? Up until recently they never had an alternative (if I can use that word on a prog metal mailing list :o) ). Thanks to mp3s, the fat cat RIAA now has some competition over how music will be listened to. I think the best part of all this is that there's no freakin' way that you can wholly stamp out mp3 trading. I live for the day when a *GOOD* CD costs $8 or $9 and not just the crappy ones.

    My favorite bassists are...

John Myung for his speed, dexterity, and how fluid he plays Billy Sheehan for his incredible speed and his tapping skills with harmonics Tony Levin for his diversity in the bass section and for his work in LTE Stu Hamm for just being a kick ass player and Geddy Lee for being able to play bass and sing at the same time,,,something i could never do:) He also kicks serious ass!!!

Also does anyone plan on tabbing out some bass tabs for Platypus I am working on it now, wanted to know if anyone wanted to help.

lol. Sometimes I don't blame you. But sometimes... When I feel like no one feels like what I say has any place in their world, I just like to point at them, laugh, and take off my pants. Try it. It really shocks the hell out of some people. Just be sure to be wearing clean undies. Bosses are sticklers for cleanliness.

hehehe. I never have a problem with that. I think CDNow wanted almost $30 for TiO when I ordered it, but I just checked, Knights of the Round has it for $13.99 (German import). Put it down for postal delivery (at cost, no damn postage markups) and expect David to have it to you in just a week or so. I can never harp enough about those guys. Here's ya a shortcut. http://www.knightsoftheround.com/zcats.htm It takes a minute to load tho.

And while you're waiting for your CD to show, enjoy listening to a nice Church of the Machine MP3... http://www.safelink.net/washburn/church_of_the_machine.mp3 and maybe even an Ocean Machine one, too... http://www.safelink.net/washburn/voices_in_the_fan.mp3

Don't try my links until tomorrow though. I'm gonna leave my machine on to upload them tonight whilst I nuzzle my pillow.
