Hey guys, Just decided to rant on somethin that happened to me the other night and redeclare my allegeance to DT. =)

I was asked to DJ my friend's 17th B-Day party and me being the nice guy with the good stereo system I am, said yes. Got there, played some good modern stuff (i.e. Third Eye Blind, Goo Goo Dolls) and threw in a little of my stuff (i.e. Rush-Limelight (live)). Once the party began to pick up I played a little rap and hip hop *flame resistant armor ON!* as much as it disgusted me. Everyone was happy except this one click of girls that kept on buggin me and said "play something we can dance to", "this music sux", etc. I PLAYED WILL SMITH FOR CHRIST SAKE!! (I feel so dirty) So a kid came to the party and said "hey I got some pro equipment at home, want me to bring it?" Didn't want to bother with the crap anymore so I said fine and he left to get it. *Bill picks up mike* "Attention everyone. Since we cannot seem to come to an agreement on what we want to hear, you'll be listening to my music. Oh and by the way *gets up on chair and does DX move* S*CK IT!!!!. *bill turns off mike* THEY GOT 20 mins OF THE HEAVIEST DT I HAD WITH ME!!! They got JLMB, BMS, and the Mirror before the other kid showed up. A girl from the click came up to me and goes, "Are you aware that not one person in here wants to here this?" I go, "One person does, (*expletive deleted*)" and gave her half of the peace sign. Elvis has left the building.

You're close, as far as I can tell. They're all sixteenth notes but he does divide them into groups of 3. The first grouping of two, however, seems to me to be a ruff. A ruff is a small roll added before beat 1 (that's the best way I can explain it :P). WHen you do rolls you get rebound with both hands. With a ruff you just get the rebound from one hand and hit the down beat with the other. It could also be akin to rolling a grace note.

Hey, for anyone who knows the "Machine Messiah" song from Drama: There's one cool part in the intro (2 seconds), which when you listen it sounds like the LP was turned on faster speed! :) Sounds very cool! Belivee me, if you listen Drama on gramaphone you'll jump to see what happened! :)

Bah, now that's an awesome album, but what's wrong with Jon Yes albums? :)

IMHO, Fragile is most tasty album!

Yo, who ever asked for recomendation. do not buy the early Yes (first 2 or 3 albums)! That's not it! You can buy them AFTER you get overt the first lesson with the other albums! :)

Very true!!! Liking and respecting can be 2 different things! You don't have to like some band but you can respect their work!

Example: I really don't like Pat Metheny cheesy music (especially latest work) burt after I heard his 1-st album "Bright Size Life" I was down on my knees! Man this guy can play! So, he definitely attained my respect, but I still don't like 80% of his work ! But he IS great musician! --

Hey, I just wanna say how i'm equally disappointed to not see LTE in chicago. Not only am I incredibly far away from New York or LA, but even Chicago is hard to get to for a 15 year old without knowing any other progressive fans (and not having very understanding parents!). I've just started getting into prog over the past two years, and LTE was one of the biggest contributions to my music collection. This isn't supposed to be some whiny letter begging for a concert, I'm just saying I'm not sure it was wisest move to skip over the central portion of the country without even stopping to laugh at the fact that we aren't gonna get to see some of the most talented musicians in the world playing some rockin' songs. I just wanted to let whoever cares know how much of a bummer this is to myself and all the other itsy-bitsy-ytse jammers with no car, no money, and no flight. This bites, I totally coulda gotten this chick I like to go with me.... damn! I keep telling myself there'll be more concerts.... but you never do know....

I want some bootlegs but I've got nothing to trade (except the old WOWOW concert that my cousin made for me.... hehe). How do I get started on trading? please e-mail me the answer, I feel like I'm missing out!!! thanks

I would like to say now that I find it very tiresome to see the attacks that have been going on against a certain person called 'Ayame Yuki' on this list. Whether this person is a 'spoof' member of the list or not is irrelevant. SOME people seem to think that this person is young and female. This may well be true and, if it is so, she doesn't need the comments recently made by a certain 'Someone'.

It is difficult enough to make your away in the music business as a FEMALE without 'someone' picking on you. Often there are several 'someones' (usually MALE). Personally I always 'speak my mind' to these people (sometimes just by DOING things BETTER than they do). We female musicians have to encounter enough misogyny along the way WITHOUT having it fostered on this list.

    Thank You.

Brother AL speaks the absolute truth. Here's some recent examples.....

Somebody sent AL an MP3 of Vanden Plas' "You Fly". AL loves it, and decides to order it. AL thinks I'd like VP, and sends me the MP3 (thanks AL!) . I love it, and ordered it. Hell, I'm sure I'll end up ordering their two other discs (AcCult and Colour Temple), too. Maybe AL will also. ONE MP3 = TWO CD SALES (and counting..... potentially 6+)

It works the other way too..... Somebody (Carlos Alfaro, thanks!) sent me two Pain of Salvation MP3s that really blew me away. I'm gonna order both of their CDs (as soon as they're back in stock at the Laser's Edge). I sent the MP3s to AL, and he'll probably get the CDs too.

These are only two recent examples (of many), by the way.

Moral of the story: Please quit jumping all over Andrew Coutermarsh's back!

]From what I saw, this has very little to do with misogyny, but rather with disrespect for immaturity. Bickering over a chord, exchanging insults, and offering one's opinion as the definitive with little to back it up are fairly immature things to do, and Ayame has done them all. I personally believe in equality of the sexes, but immaturity is one thing I stand against in others in a public forum and I try to eliminate from myself. This also has little to do with age. I'm a young jammer myself (16) and so to condemn people my age would be rather hypocritical. It seems to mostly have to do with what the jam is becoming, has become, or will become, which is to say that many Ytsejammers don't particularly relish the thought of it being an immature, flame-bait list.

My example doesn't compare with your story, but here it is anyway- the stereo in my car was busted for a long time, so that meant no tunes while driving. No radio. And I don't listen to the radio much when at home (what's the point, that's where my CDs are!). So, I downloaded Alanis Morissette's (then) new single "Thank U" which would be released in stores in a few weeks, then a few months after that, the album itself would be released. Listening to that song, I decided to buy the album when it came out b/c I liked the mp3 so much. mp3s are good for the music industry I think. Besides, anyone who's devoted enough to a band to track down their mp3 stuff on the web will buy the CD, natch. mp3s are the best thing to happen to the music industry in a long time, IMHO.
