I'm reading this post, without knowing who wrote it...and I'm saying to
myself..."It's GOTTA be Merlo. No one else would cry about Interleague
play like this!" ...Hehehe..I was right!
D-Man, I agree about missing Kevin and liking Jordan cuz he sounds like
Kev. (Holy Shit!!! We agree on something!!!) .....But I disagree with
you on Interleague play...

In response 2 another post, I'd just like to say that it was nice to
see Derek really getting into the music. Why dump him if he's more into
it than James?
Dump JAMES! They need a new singer anyway.
AND ALSO, yes, I DO worry that the next DT will just be LTE III.
I really hope DT doesn't fall apart because of this.

OK. The only problem with LTE were the slower tracks (except track 2
rules), and that stupid closer in Universal Mind.
Anyway, I personally see DT as the bridge between the more mainstream
and the really prog. I would like to see them go more prog too, don't
get me wrong.
But IAW all sounds the same, and I skip tracks on that. I skip WAY more
from Awake than any other album. To me, Awake was the low point.
And also, New Millennium and Trial Of Tears to me DEFINE Dream Theater.
You do realize that they may never be the same, don't you?
So get off your obsessions of DT with Kevin, and look at what's about to
happen. Dream Theater's very iindividuality is about to sell out to the
Explorers Club sound. I did notice that EC and LTE sound very similar.
And it's good, but it's not Dream theater.
Of course, I could be all wrong, but I agree that a lot of the power
won't be in the keys anymore.
I think the one positive thing I can say about this right now is that
hopefully Jordan will actually use flute sounds and stuff (LTE track 2)
that NEITHER Kevin nor Derek would have touched...
-maX
And how come every time a PM band does a live CD or video or whatever,
they just can't leave the fuck word alone?
Depeche Mode doesn't have to impress people like that.

Maybe we could get both Kevin Moore AND Derek Sherinian to play on the next FATES WARNING CD?
Then, maybe also, Jim could let George Lynch get on a solo or two, and Ray could let Steve
Perry do some harmonies. WOW!

>< In addition, I just read (again) the liner notes to Once in a livetime
and I noticed that DT thanks the band they toured with. Did these bands toured
for the Infinity tour only? I am asking this because the Gaclactic Cowboys are
not in the list. ><
My guess...it was everything post-Images and Words. GC opened for them on that
tour, so no need to thank them.

the cover to "Images and Words" autographed in black sharpie by all

Great Derek moments: his solo on Explorer's Club (which was better than
great), and his work on Just Let Me Breathe. great jazzy feel. the song would
not be the same without it.

I was in The Wall today, and after walking around for a few minutes, the music
over the speaker stops, and much to my surprise, they start to play Trial of
Tears. I almost fell down. Anyway, when I told the clerk that Derek was gone,
she said, "Good, I hate that faggot." Oh well, not everyone isn't at least a
*little* saddened. Well when i showed her the picture of Jordan Rudess on her
LTE, she said "Oh good, he's cute." lol...i guess that's what it comes down to
these days

John, ditto, but there is one complaint I already have. i think there
should be a descriptive video of the JR video. Not only that, you should
make sure that your slow motion buttons work on your vcr so you could see
the man in action at a human pace. I wish i could buy this video, but I
know that instructional videos really make use of the visual aspect, so I
highly doubt I will understand it. I was trying to watch the starters video
for the Roland VS880 recorder and shut it off because it was so visual. Phewy.

Mosh, you make this sound so cold and thoughtless. I would never really compare a band to a corporation, whether or not they run similar lines, because ultimately, musicians are not prophet driven, they are a lover of art and they are audio artists. Speaking from such a camp, if I am going to rid myself of a member of a band, it won't be because record sales are down, it will be because the person isn't cutting it in the band. Wow, somebody have an ax to grind here? Why jump on Jordan already? Or just bashing Jordan because of all of the Derek bashing currently underway? (At least wait till the new disc comes out.)
Obviously he had offers from both bands at the same time. But it also looks like the Dregs had been there first. He was getting ready to tour with the Dregs. He was invited to an AUDITION with DT. One of several CANDIDATES. He was already familiar with (and a fan of) the Dregs. When you have 2 good, equal offers, you gotta take the first one. Plus the TIMING of the Dregs tour may have been better for FAMILY reasons.

For the record, i support Derek and won't be drawn into this silly little flame war that is eating up my inbox. I love Derek, I love Jordan, if I were gay and they were gay, I would have a massive orgy with those two and kevin more, OK? Let's just leave it at that, and for the record I am not gay either.
