hey all!
I was wondering if anyone is going to post a review on the show of
yesterday? how long was it? how r the new songs for LTE 2?
also.. I got my hands on the Progfest 97 cd.. not bad at all.. but there is
something that's puzzling me..
The John Whitton Band.. the 3rd song on the cd... man. i don't remember the
name.. anyhow.. it sounds like a song I heard before.. and that i have at
home.. either from im guessing Flower King's .. but I could be wrong..
anyhow.. if anyone understands what I'm talking about.. they could answer
me.

Sorry about that. I haven't read all the Jams lately
(they just keep comming!) and I was in a bad mood.
75% of what's in the Jam is flaming or oppinions that
some people yell out like they are the facts of life.
It just made me slightly irritated and I took it out on that
post without even reading what it was all about. sorry.
I'll read ALL the Jams before the next time I post.=20

I agree with your post, and well id just like to make the observation that maybe
the fact that DT is not nearly as popular as VH greatly contributes on the whole thing
being low-key and not some bitter flameage between the band and derek or jordan and
derek ( im talking about them flaming each other not US ). If DT were say as popular
as VH, Aerosmith or even Metallica..the media woulve made it a lot uglier. All this
not considering of course that the guys in DT, Derek and Jordan may be professional
enough NOT to turn this into a Van Halen -like thing, which i think they are...i mean
if for example derek intended something like that, he woulve emailed here saying a
whole bunch of reasons ( real or real to him ) for his firing, and mike woulve
counterposted defending himself and the band... etc etc.. we of course (at least I )
would be even more dissapointed to see THAT, than to just have to wait for time to
clear things up....

Dream Theater back in the studio in February
Added on 01-03-1999
Dream Theater will be back in the studio in February to work on a new album.
None of the "Falling Into Infinity" leftovers will be used, except for
possibly Metropolis part II. The band will be writing and recording
simultaniously (ala LTE). Unfortunately, Mike's project with Pete Trewavas
(Marillion) and Neal Morse (Spock's Beard) has been put on the shelf for the
time being.
Also from maX:

I don't think you should be the one asking to remove anyone else from the
list. Posting 7 times in one jam is not cool, dude. That goes for EVERYONE
who has an itchy trigger finger on the Send button.
About Jordan/Derek, I'm glad to see the change. As many of you know, I was
never thrilled with Derek from the beginning, both as a keyboardist and a
showman. I'm really looking forward to the next disc, which should really
get us back to the heart of what DT was intended to be. :)

Actually,
I thought that was quite funny. I started imagining Derek out raking the
fall leaves. He's wearing his see-thru shirt, his vinyl/leather pants and
his "I think I'm Bono" sunglasses. Then he pulls out the gardening shears.
Tears a hole in his shinny pants and shoves his rake into his
chocy-starfish. Once he's got it all snug and fit properly, he continues
raking the lawn.
Priceless.

Hey guys and gals. I know we have talked about Zappa's music here
before, and after recently picking up Mike Keneally's & Beer For
Dolphins, Sluggo album I have been wanting to check more of Zappa's
stuff out. I already have Zoot Allures and Sleep Dirt. I know that
Mike Portnoy said that he got into Zappa because of the weird time
Sigs. My question; which albums contain these weird time sigs. I do
like both of the above mentioned albums by Zappa. So point me in the
right direction. I want to assume that the albums that Vinnie
Colliuta(sp?) and Chad Wackerman played on would have some interesting
time sigs.
Plus if you haven't picked up Mike Keneally & BFD's Sluggo, you need
to. Very good stuff if your not in the 'mood' for prog-metal.

hi there, Bowery Ballroom, my diary.
I'm taking the bus from NJ, should take 30 min. max. The driver decides
to chat and chat and drive as slowly as possible without endangering his
health. Took us 45 min. Well, I arrive in time to see, fuck, they have
T-shirts(I don't have money, damnit). Well, I give my coat away and spot
d-man, nice surprise, later Christina who apparently got kicked by
Jordan("He kicks my ass"), but didn't hurt her knee.
You people who were complaining about not having shows in your area?
You did the right thing, because this kicked ass. THere were about 250
people in the club(my guess) which was really cool, 'cause when people
just spoke a little louder he was audible to the band(Somebody:"You
really kick ass" JP shyly(sp?)"Thanks")
The guys enter the stage, Jordan gets a "welcome to DT" looks really
friendly and from the whole show I get the impression that he's one of
the nicest guys you could hang out with. Not heavy enough for DT? Listen
to the new LTE stuff and think again. JP was a little shaky in the
ballads and again I must say, when he improvises fastly, I don't like it
anymore, he tries to get too many notes in no time.I feel like Crang
going:"Shredder".Tony Levin enters the stage, I go, holy cow(maybe Satch
should hire him and start a Hair band:). He was so cool. Jordan played a
nice solo btw, where we could see what he might add: sounds. Luckily I
could stay until they were done although I guess they were signing stuff
afterwards, right?
Mike, you were good, too, as always. People that was awesome. But
Mike(portnoy), I still want one of those shirts!!!

This is not funny. This is an amateur attempt at humor. It fails
miserably. If I had a sister, I'm sure she'd be more than happy to hand

Fear not, JP's beats/minute are just too fast!! Velocity is an important
component of momentum. Related to this somehow is 'inertia' which tends
to allow someting to maintain direction :)

Bravo!! That was lucid thinking!
IMO, the only thing I'd change is the phrase "Success will come" to
"Continued success will come". IMO they're already successfull, and it's
recognized out there in many forms (for example: Mike on the cover of
Modern Drummer, other highly respected musicians playing with them,
rabid fan base :), not too shabby a set of number in record sales
considering the genre as a whole).
