Oh here we go again with your self glorification, why do you need to tell us
this again ? Oh I know to boost your ego and try to convince everyone that
    you are better than me.
I really don't give a shit about your career or music and I've read an interview

and believe me I would'nt be bragging about being a music journalist, bwahahaha.

Oh clutching at straws aern't we ?
You bring that up after 3 months ?
Everyone, cept you, knows it was a light hearted sarcastic dig at seeing your
name on the jam so much.

Bitching ? Hardly, I mearly mentioned that myself and a number of other jammers

Amongst the jammers I am in regular contact with, you are a joke
I took one look at your alledged album and fell off my chair

Yep, here's yet another derek post. Sorry but something just kinda pissed me
off at the philly show last night(the show was unbelievable, levin's a god).
When Mike announced jordan and welcomed him into the band, he made a crack
about jordan needing to get some platform shoes now. It was pretty funny, but
still, i dont think its right to do now. Then i saw something in a post about
how JP said something sarcastically like "yeah we had a real good
realtionship." I dont know, i'm just wondering what really is between them
because it really seems like they dont like him at all. I just thought it was
in bad taste. Derek was a great player and brought an unbelievable amount to
the band. I'm gonna miss him. Sorry, I just had to get this off my chest.
    Now I'm done.

I interrupt your regularly scheduled debate to plead with any jammer out there
who would be interested in parting with their '98 Fan Club cd. I've been a
member of the club since it's inception (and was even a member of the 2
previous DT clubs), but somehow, someway, my subscription expired. Neil tells
me that he sent a renewal reminder, but I KNOW I never got it. I always renew
when I get that. Anyway...this whole time I've been waiting for my cd...and
    now it's not coming.
If anyone out there has one they'd be willing to trade or sell, please contact
me by private email (kyletarag@aol.com). I have an extra FanClub '97 cd I'd
be willing to trade...amongst other things. PLEASE let me know if you can
    help...I'm desperate!

I'm sorry to fill up the list with shit, but when I see stupid comments

Hey man. I have Nikki's album personally, and it's really good. Not
all prog and not very metal, but it really is good music.

And I think the artwork rules.

Maybe you should listen to stuff before you slam it.

Personally, I think the jazzy stuff is more Levin, and more "another
side" that wouldn't be on a DT album.

Also, there has been a lot of arguement about DT99, so it looks like
we'll just have to wait and see when it comes out...

I hope they do stuff more like Universal Mind (without the closer) :)

    Yo Jammers,
This is my first post to the Jam, so I thought instead of saying "Damn JR
rocks & DS sucks" (well, i just did, but derek is funny as hell, so back off
of him, you cant be that funny) I thought I might talk about the LTE show in
Philly. They were billed at the Theatre of the Living Arts, which holds
about 200 people (???? I dont know for sure, can any1 verify this?). The
doors were supposed to open "around 8:00" but I think they opened at about
8:30 or so. Walked in, guy told me if I walked into the bar area they would
throw me out, its like I can actually get a drink when my license says Im 16
anyway. Walked inside, & I was surprised to see that there was seats
instead of the standing room only policy. Me & my friend got a seat in the
5th row, right in front of where Petrucci stood & played all night. LTE
were supposed to be on at 9pm, but if LTE were a bunch of roadies setting up
equipment for another group, they werent onstage. When the lights dimmed in
the TLA, there was this rude annoying person in back of me screaming his
head off. Well, to my surprise, it was Kez. Damn, he is nuts. Well, the
lights dimmed & Jordan was the first to take the stage. He started playing
"Osmosis" & the first thought that ran into my head was "Damn, i cant stand
this song" but, hearing it live, it totally changed my mind. It was a great
way to start things off, & one of many JR highlights thoughout the show.
Tony Levin then walked out to join in on the Chapman Stick, which looks like
the worlds biggest bitch to play, but he played it like it was nothing.
Good Ole John Petrucci walked out next to join in, & it kicked ass just
being 10 feet away from where he was playing. It was like he was playing to
you, for you. Then Mike ran out, got the biggest amount of cheers, & joined
    in.

That was the beginning of the show. The minute they blasted into
Paradigm Shift, the show was nonstop
    on-the-edge-of-your-seat-piss-your-pants-and-make-mommy-mad action & it was
fantastic, & the crowd ate it up. There was lots of headbanging, especially
from the guy right in front of me, he was goin nuts & Jordan was looking
over in his direction with a funny look on his face every time :) For the
price of 15 bucks, this was worth every penny. The show was tight, & as
Mike said "Last night it was the experiment, tonight is the first show",
what a hell of a first show! Or second! The 3 new songs they played,
Another Dimension, By Accident, & Acid Rain, were very good & heavy,
especially Acid Rain which reminded me of Pups on Acid at times. All the
songs they played were played very very well, & they did not dissapoint at
    all.

On JRs stage presence. When I first heard about the DS/JR thing, I was like
"fuck, I liked DS alot, but JR cant be that bad, He will fit in ok..". Last
night convinced me that although the presence of DS will be missed in live
DT shows, JR will make up for that musically. When I heard his solo in
Another Dimension, I thought to myself "Damn, hes gonna rock the DT world".
& I think he will, in one way or another. He also had a kind of charm
onstage too. When he wasnt playing, he would stand there & play air drums
with his hands. During Acid Rain, he got up behind Mikes drumkit & played
Marraccas or whatever those things are called.

The show was about 2 hrs long altogether, & every single minute of it was
great. Mike, John, Jordan, & Tony: Thanks for taking time out of your busy
schedules to give us fans a mini tour. Also, for those who dont live in NY,
LA, or Philly, please, get Magna Carta to release a live show from this tour
for all the fans who couldnt attend. We arent asking much, & ya know, we
are gonna buy it anyways!! Thank you for being so kind, funny, & kick ass
musicans, & Jordan, welcome to the family.

Sorry if this post was too long or whatever, but you got a delete button,
use it! Thanks for readin & listening :) back to lurkdom for now...

    Don't worry about it.

The playback laser is not powerful enough to damage the disc surface.
Long term pauses (several days) could cause unnecessary wear on the
spindle motor and bearings, but even that's negligible unless the
machine is a complete pile. In that case, I would consider failure a blessing.

I agree. I don't think he digs the whole 'adoring fan' scene. On this last occasion, especially:

He acted the way people do when they're about to leave a party. He might as well have started jingling his car keys for effect. Maybe he just had to go. But he had most of a beer left, so I doubt it. Also, he was a little evasive. I had to keep grabbing his attention and I couldn't really converse with him. He clearly was not in the mood to chat. But you know, at least he did. I got oodles of stuff signed, and it's not like he has to even come out and talk to us at all.

And the last I met him, he was cool - in the rain outside Irving Plaza last may, and he still greeted me and my friends, and initiated handshakes with us.

But the time before that he really pulled a fast one. We're at the Vanderbilt last January(Killer Show!!) and everyone comes out but him. Finally, after over an hour, he pops out and says "Hey guys, what's up! I'll be right back!" And then he disappeared, never to return. I think he may have hopped in his car and sped off, because the last I saw he had gone to the parking lot.

    Yeah...he could be warmer.
