I didn't think there was going to be an election. But if Pat does give
up his FAQ duties, for whatever the reason, and Chris doesn't step back
in, I would like to express my official interest in maintaining the FAQ.
Pat and Chris, I didn''t have either of your email addresses handy -
    sorry.

I sent my last post before receiving the last jam, in which the matter of the faq was addressed. Anyway, should an anvil fall on Merlo, somebody give me a call.

Hi...with people talking about the FAQ, well...maybe someone ought to bring up the fact that Jordan's bio is kind of unlike the bios of the other members. Sure, it's straight from Jordan's own site, but...well...the obsessive-compulsive side of me thinks that it ought to, at least, have some more of the info that the others have in their bios like "favorite drink." :) Actually, the thing that I was wondering about was his age. Someone mentioned that there was an age difference between him and most of the others. I was just curious what that was. Not that it matters.

Back to what I'm supposed to be doing with my time...

    Mike,

I hope you submitted this before I wrote the thing about Chris. If not, you should do yourself a favor and talk to Chris about it. There are a million reasons why Chris should assume the FAQ, provided that it's a smooth transition. Please don't take this the wrong way, but there are also a million reasons why you shouldn't do the faq.

    Hi ya folks,

Jump on over to www.erotomania.org/scott/files/LTE_Acid_Rain_Philly.mp3 and grab yourself (obviously) the MP3 from Philly of Liquid Tension Experiment performing Acid Rain. It was the encore, and Petrucci botched two different guitar entrances, plus Tony's effects box conked out on him. Catch the excitement!

(Soon this will also be up on Bogie's page dreamtheater.mit.edu with hopefully the full show...but we'll have to see)

I just saw the video yesterday, I also got the CD.. what happened to Raise The Knife? was it ever released with vocals on it? I just heard it once before a DT concert and thought that it was pretty good (I really didnt like it much without vocals) so I was wondering....now that they are in the studio and they said that they wont record anything from the falling sessions but metropolis 2.....will raise the knife will be ever released with vocals?

what I missed from the CD is a new song, kind of bombay vindaloo on live at the marquee.... the video has a new song (cover my eyes), I mean it's new even when we heard it before.... I think the CD could have been better with a song like raise the knife or a improv....something new...

the video was good, the footage from the studio was good, watching portnoy and petrucci dancing drunk was fun...camera wise I liked more Live in Tockyo, they knew when to tape someone and on this video someone could be soloing and the camera was taking shots of the audience or anything else...

having the uncovered footage was a great surprise, I didnt know there was video for that...it was well compiled...

I didnt like the fact that Derek was there so much, he's there at the beggining, he's there dancing and talking....damn....I guess he's also out of the band because he's a terrible dancer....he looks kind of a rythm enemy....goofy not funny....

like frank zappa said: he's so gay, he's so gay......

I havent heard Sluggo yet but I have the rest of Keneally albums, they are really good, specially HAT and the double live album called "Half Alive in Hollywood"

from Frank Zappa check out "Roxy and Elsewhere", it's an old album but it's pretty good, I truly recommend this one, it has some instrumental songs that will turn your mouth open and you wont be able to close it for a while, it has some songs with vocals as well and some of those are very funny... "Jazz from Hell" is an all instrumental album, pretty weird and hard to listen but interesting....

I have some other Zappa albums but I guess the easiest to like from those is Roxy and Elsewhere and Joe's Garage...but I think Joe's garage is a little bit plain in time signatures.....Im not sure about this though....

Jeff, I agree that "The Progressive Rock Files" is a decent book. The latter half of the book is great for anyone just getting into the genre, as it is a fairly complete listing of bands A-Z with halfway decent descriptions of their sound.

The ISBN # of the book is 1-896522-10-6

And the Pink Floyd tracks (a 16 min+ version of Interstellar Overdrive and the previously unreleased "Nick's Boogie") are definitely worth having.

    Slainte!

Just for the record: I, of all the fans, don't want it to be on the next album. That would mean less other tunes and we all know how much it sucked not to have all the goodies on Falling Into Infinity. (Talking about that Knife song, the Where Are You Now wail, the Speak To Me part etc.)

But then, whoever asked me, right? :-)

ok. here it is. a ruff on the bass drums, then a heurta on the highest octoban, followed by 2 hits on the rest of the octobans, then 2 on the high tom, and 1 one on the next tom. It's hard to write out, because the bass drum ruff is in a duple feel, then the rest are 16th triplets. For those of you that are unaware of drummer terms... a heurta is kinda like 16th,16th,8th,8th in a triple feel. ; digga-dah-dah. I am pretty darn sure (almost certain) that this is 100% correct. I think the only person that could prove me wrong is the mighty Portnoy himself. If any of you are still not convinced, mail me, and I will show you how I came to this.
