well, since LTE consists of DT members here's the DTC. I thought it was hilarious when 250 were whistling the "adventure " song and all screaming "excellent".

In the introduction of the North American Allstars they played Satch's War.

In the end of Lenny's song Fly Away where he sings //I want to get away,Iwant to get away, yeah// Does anybody else think that the //yeah// sounds like a yeah from Paul Gilbert on the Live in San Francisco CD/video??

Damnit, I didn't get sigs in NYC(LTE) cause I had to leave. After the DT show in Birch Hill, did they finally come out and sign anything? Damon, I think you're idea is good(admin).

    peace, sebastian

I've listened to this clip about 5 or 6 times and I must say that although it may be heavier than some LTE tunes, it doesn't strike me as HEAVY. In fact it sounds more like a groove jam. When I say groove, I mean more like a common theme was set up and they each take their turns playing over it.

The first 1/3 of the song sounds composed. Especially Jordan's part. After that, it sounds like the just decide to take turns shredding over it as Mike Portnoy holds down the "groove".

Very cool song, but not what I was expecting from the other LTE concert reviews. To me Acid Rain still sounds VERY LTE.

If this is the future of DT, it can be a very cool thing. Acid Rain has some REALLY GOOD PARTS. What would have been different if this had been a DT session would be that DT would have taken the initial jam and played around with it. DT would make it sound like a composition, whereas LTE would make it sound more like a jam.

    Guys...

I know there is a CD boot of the providence RI. fix for 96 show... I am looking for a copy... I don't want to pay an inflated price of an orig. I am looking for the music... if you are willing to sell a CDR copy of these disks or offer it in trade please contact me...

Like I said the show is what is important to me not the "collector's value" of the disks... no crazy prices... but if you have the orig. disks I could work out a buy that involved a CDR copy back to you...

Hey folks, we've just been away a few days visiting the aged relatives.

Anyway, we've decided to follow Korg's example and unsubscribe because:

    (1) Someone seems to be trying to start up the bitching about Derek again which was unacceptable to start with and is still the same. We were thinking of joining Korg at the time any way.

    (2) Someone else seems to be trying to start some regarding John Petrucci and his attitude to the fans after the LTE shows. That is totally unacceptable. Perhaps he was just dog tired after all that playing? Gigs affect different people in different ways (from experience). Also he seems a little more shy than Mike Portnoy (animal of the muppets!!)

    (3) There was someone who mentioned starting up a Dream Theater music discussion list to include theory and analysis of their songs, etc. We will look through some back digests to try and find out who it was but meanwhile, if you see this message, please e-mail us British musos because we would love to hear from you and join a list like that.

    (4) The recent bitching about JLB was also unacceptable.

We are sure there are plenty of DT's actual fans on the list and we wish you all the best and hope to see you on the suggested NEW LIST some time soon, where we can all get away from the constant sniping of the bitche jam.

Just hanging around long enough to see this post make it through and we hope to hear from the jammer who wants to start that new DT list. Anyone who knows who it was, please e-mail us.

Bye y'all - oh and we would like to invite a certain Australian flamer/jammer to sit on it and TWIST (on Mike Portnoy's used drum stick that is) while being spit roasted over his own barbie (nice and hot now!) and save us the crackling .....

Fire and Ice and the band.

Ok, I knew DT were good, but now I'm just completely blown away.

Awake came out after I&W right?

How were they able to get the mirror from Awake into her hand when Awake didn't even exist yet? Are DT from the future? Is the mirror a time machine?

My mailer has been acting kinda strange lately (sometime posts like these come out of nowhere and just appear on the jam); so depending if the stargate was working or not, I just may have apologized sometime soon if this ends up already having been added to the previous version of tomorrow's faq.

    Hmm....

I play an Ibanez RG Prestige model, and unknown to me, you're supposed to adjust the action when there is no preassure applied to the bridge (in other words, when the strings are on). Unfortunately, my taste in action height has been fickle, and Ive changed it every now and then to see what works best, all the time stripping the action height adjustors at the bridge, so now, when I do all that weird shit with my vibrato arm, it never fits quite back in tune because the height adjustor pegs are stripped. My question is this:

How much would this cost to fix? How easily can it be fixed, and, if I can get the new pegs, can I do it myself? Thanks

The following is a list of my top 50 favorite bands, in no particular order, and for no particular reason, because this information is not at all interesting or noteworthy to any of you. I chose these bands because I am an individual with individual tastes and preferences in music, thus, these are the bands that appeal to ME in particular. I do realize that some of these bands may also be on your top 10 lists and top 50 lists, but I assure you, it's just concidence. Actually, there are some bands on the afforementioned but hereto unpublished list that none of you have heard of, but seeing as this is a list designed by and for ME, it's not really important that you have functional knowledge of any of the bands, or their sounds, styles, criminal backgrounds, etc. Let's face it... you're not going to ask me about any of these bands, because you, like me, don't really care about average joe's favorite band lists. These lists don't provide any new information, except in rare cases, like when someone puts "Borknagar" or "Ildjarn-Nidhogg" (from whom, the album 'Svartfrad' really stands out) on one's list and you learn how to combine phonetic sounds in ways altogether unheard of in English ("ZaaaaWAUGENFUCK!" - Bafu Vai). You know, come to think of it, maybe my top 50 list doesn't belong here, but instead on a web page or something where no one will see it, and ironically enough, they still won't care to read it. Maybe I should adhere to the rules of this list, and talk about bands related to progressive music, like Fates Warning, who rule, or Inferno, who you can ONLY find in the cutout bins at Progressive Metal cd stores (since I have one near me, you must too) Maybe I should abstain from excessive name calling, cursing at people with divergent views on reality... maybe this list doesn't need my religious perspectives on things like abortion and the whole "Popsicle vs Jello Pudding Pop" debate from Vatican II (this time it's personal). Maybe common sense should tell me not to talk about "That time my buddy sold crack to Mike Portnoy's drum tech" or whatever. Maybe I TOO should find myself a token band to push until all of the members of this list are so sick of hearing the band's name (Empty Tremor) that no matter how talented the band is, they SUCK by DEFAULT because I wore everyone out by sending the same ass kissing post with the same TOO BIG SIG in each of 1000 ytsejam posts (per week). Or maybe I will post my top 10 favorite bands.

1). Fates Warning 2). Bumblefoot 3). Symphony X 4). Tribal Tech 5). Pat Metheny Group 6). Dream Theater With Derek 7). Dream Theater WITHOUT Derek 8). Bafu Vai's Mom 9). --

No, I shouldn't be doing this. You see, in writing up to ban number 8, I have already lost about 80% of the people who were reading. The other 20% of you are just too slow to realize that you don't care about my favorite bands, but you're all getting ready to send flames to the list (not to private e-mail, because you have a keyboard and a reply button, so what the fuck?) about how much of a lame ass I am, and how I'm sexist from Texas, driving only automobiles made by companies owned by Toyota. I mean, my ultimate goal isn't to make you guys all skip by my posts when you see them... I'm not just here to take up bandwidth in some inane hope that Mike Portnoy will see my name and say "He is the winner of my 'Win Mike Portnoy's Family' contest," in which I become the drum hero of little kids and big kids alike even though I'm too damn lazy to develop skill and ability on my own (doesn't matter, because I listen to TRUE PROG METAL, and that means I'm already a better drummer than almost every other human being alive, especially rappers and country musicians.) Soon Skadz will unsub me too, and then I'll have to get a hotmail address (the default provider for all of your Ytsejam Refugee needs). Until then, though, you can just kiss my ass, because I will NEVER tell you who my 9th and 10th favorite bands are. You'll just have to read about them on my geocities web page!

Keep your hair long and don't wear anything that isn't prog. And don't forget to talk shit. :)

    - Chris

Ha Ha! I'm sure the anticipation will be killing everyone for the next few monthes. We're just going to have to wait and see.

Dream Theater is a different entity, but I'm sure there will be similiarities with LTE. LTE was mostly about jamming and musicianship, but there were also lot's of good compositional ideas floating around.

On a new Dream Theater recording, I'm sure the emphasis will be more on the compositions and writing. And with the added aspect of vocals, there should be quite a difference between DT and LTE. But will they be at that high level of quality we all expect from DT? Will they match up with each of our individual opinions of what is good? I guess we'll just have to wait and see...
