wav files first. Is there a way to convert mp3 files to wave files?
Please email me privately as I dont have time to read all the jams :)

Ok... D-Man did a great job at maintaining the FAQ... but perhaps now
that DT has gotten to where they are... it requires more than one person
to maintain it... maybe a FAQ CONSORTIUM is needed... more than one
person who is in close contact with members... this way, the
responsibility won't all lay on one person... and we won't have to say,
"You piece of molasses, get of your ass..."

    D-Man said through Mojo's fingers :

    > I would be happy to re-adopt the FAQ, if you the jammers, and > you Pat, think this would be in the best interest of the band.

Actually, I've been hoping Chris would take back the DT FAQ all along... I honestly can't think of anyone else, other than Mike Portnoy, who could get the job done. ;-) And we all know that Mike's too busy doing cool shit to keep us all happy campers...

    > If you guys want me to take over the faq again, I will.

Is this even open for discussion? :)

well, I'm going to make my post for the season..:) don't get to very much...but some interesting stuff there...

well, for top 10 rock..I'd have to say, hard to order them(not including DT): Queensryche(especially pre-Here in the Fucked up Frontier) Aerosmith(America's greatest Rock 'n' Roll band, that's all i have to say) Jethro Tull(Ian Anderson's flute playing sets them apart) Blood, Sweat, and Tears(Are they jazz? blues? rock? no, they're just GOOD) Chicago(especially pre-80's) Sade(sexiest voice alive) Sting(great, versatile guy, Moon Over Bourbon Street defined him IMO) Alan Parsons(excellent arrangements and variety of instruments and styles, the ultimate in prog IMO) Emerson, Lake, and Palmer(Emerson and Palmer are both incredibly gifted, Lake was just there as support..:)) Pink Floyd(duh..:)) other prog bands like King Crimson, Yes, Fates Warning are all very good too, just couldn't fit them in...:) and really, after that, any kind of good FUNKY stuff like James Brown, Kool and the Gang, Earth Wind and Fire, etc. catches my attention. BUT, jazz is what probably occupies most of my listening, people like Stan Getz, Coltrane, Miles, Zoot Sims, Buddy DeFranco, Jimmy Smith and a whole shitload of others(I have a collection of over 2300 CD's, of which at least 1300 of it is jazz, the rest is rock, classical, soundtracks, etc.) probably a bit different list than most people, but it's what I like...hehe

As for the Jordan/Derek thing...I'll say that I'm sorry to see Derek go, I liked all the organ stuff, and I liked his chord voicings, never saw him in concert, and I can't say I care about his persona....he was a good musician...As for Jordan, I don't know if others felt the same way, but although I find him INCREDIBLY talented, he leaves me a little cold, not much feeling, where I saw a lot of groove in Derek's playing, especially on FII. I also don't personally care for Jordan's choice of sounds as much, I found they were too percussive, I just like more sustanence...just some ideas and opinions about the two....

Josh - the awesome guy who's sold me two (count em, TWO) ytsejam shirts, spouted:

    >Any particular reason you chose to use the level 2 compression scheme? I >hear they've got this "mp3" on the horizon. :-D

Me thinks you're on crack, all the files on my computer show it as being an mp3. Even the file I uploaded says on my ftp program that its an mp3. But I am using a crappy mp3 encoder...(can someone send me a link, or just a program, of a good encoder?!) It's wierd you brought that up though...One other person mentioned that it was mp2...but no one else has said anything. Hmm...Maybe I'm the one on crack :)

Other issues to be addressed: The Jordan mp3 that you all might have downloaded sounds like junk for two reasons. When I recorded from the minidisc to the computer, I had the levels set WAY too high, thus the clipping. Keep in mind I had just gotten back from the concert, I was tired and not thinking clearly! Another problem was the crappy mp3 encoder I use...bah...

One final thing. The LTE CD "Testing For Tension: Live At The TLA" will be ready for trading in a day or two...I'm just finishing on the artwork. (Thanks to Syrinx for the help!) Then I need to go buy some blank CDs. So go ahead and bookmark my page (www.erotomania.org/scott/tradehome.html) so that you can visit there often to see if the concert is ready to be shipped out. (And yes, I will soon be placing all the tracks in mp3 format...providing I can get an mp3 encoder that works...)

OK, thats about enough outta me!

errr...maybe because the mirror of awake is taken from the one on the cover of I&W and not the other way around?

This IS the last time I'm going to say this.

The sister crack was meant to be a joke (KorgX3 style - yes he and I got along great). Sorry it didn't come out that way.

I have already apologized for my behavior, as it was out of line. OK?

Also, I have said NOTHING rude to anybody who didn't either say Derek is a fking fknut faggot" etc, etc...

I've already said that. And yes, I admit I did take the wrong way about it. I should NOT take my personal stress out on the jam. Once again, I apologize. That's all I can do.

Does anyone remember what the jam was like when ACOS first came out? Now compare that with the way it is now. Believe it or not, I HATE it when people are always cussing each other out.

But I became like one of the very people I strive to avoid.

I miss the ytsejam being a family unit. Please help me to resurrect this feeling.

I will make the first step.

A thought occured to me earlier today. When JR was asked to tour for the Awake tour & become a member of DT, he said no. Now he says yes. He might have said no the first time because DT were about to embark on a tour with him playing keyboard parts that werent his & he would have nothing new to himself to showcase. Of course he would rework KM's parts just like DS did, but there would be no new song where JR actually helped write. Now that DT are headed back into the studio, JR joins, & DS is out. JR will write new material with the band. Maybe that is why he didnt go with DT the first time. Of course, I might be wrong, considering he went to tour with the Dregs & maybe wrote nothing new with them there, but I do not know. Just a thought. Discuss, prove me wrong, I dare you.

You know, I haven't been on this list very long, but the impression I get is that most of you don't really care about the feelings of the band members at all, and you ALL get really emotional about your own feelings.

My impression of this list in 2 years is like this. There will be 1 digest per week, and each will have about 4 messages. Observe.

    1) I like Dream Theater.

    2) Yeah. They are double-plus-good. But then, that's just MY opinion.

-note the poster took special care not to OFFEND anyone.

    3) Hi guys. How are you?

    4) It's me, Skadz. I have unsubscribed the last poster for his NDTC.

What gives? I know you all used to say "don't take things worth a grain of salt". Well? Listen to your own words.
